😌☹☹😧🤣
Is it possible to do that mold with concreate?
The resemblance between this guy and Sean Connery in the Rock when he's being interrogated is eery. Also, good vid.
7:25 That moment when he finally get the spot. So satisfying~~~~~
Mickr4 I know right
LOL. I was staring at it like "please get that ... please cover that" ... LOL
The Bob Ross of Blood, Guts, and Horror! Please be my Grandpappy!
Glad to be....sonny
This is awesome! I feel like I am watching a mask making tutorial on a tube tv during the late 80's early 90's
I love how you don't make this intimidating like some other people do, they act like its the end of the world if you get a little messy and absolutely loose their minds if you even touch the plaster a tiny bit with your hands.
Yes! Love how he is real!
I've just found these videos looking up how to make masks out of plastic, but this has awoken the sculptor in me. These videos are amazing, as is your work. I know exactly what I'm going to be doing as soon as I can buy the materials.
lucky person who gets to be around him and learn from him . so lucky , all i get is youtube videos lol. good job. your winning in my book.
I have been waiting since the TV series to hear what paint he uses for mold release. Awesome. Maximum talent, minimum cost!
"It all washes off...eventually" My man!! Hahah!!
I was binge watching the series that I forgot to check the time! Now I will only get 4 hours of sleep. I have no regrets though. Can't wait for the next vid!
this is way too underappriciated
I agree!!!!I wish the tv show was still on the comradery between the staff and the way they showed you how to do things is unmatched by any other show
Sincere thanks Mr.E for revealing some of your valuable tried and trusted methods in these videos.
Your excellent 'Making Monsters' show deserves to be resurrected -Stat!
This put me to sleep so hard and I mean that in the best way. Very relaxing to watch. Thanks for sharing.
I could watch and listen to you all day!
they need to bring back the TV show they had I was hooked on it plus seeing them work was awesome!!
This has been incredibly entertaining. I wasn't even interested in making a mask, I just wanted to see how it was done.
Thanks, Ed. Finally, someone that could care less about the outside of the mold! So many people will show you their smoothing techniques and lament the cuts from the sharp plaster. I like it rough and not sharp, but I don't bother to spit shine them. Thumbs up!
Yay Ed Edmonds is still rockin the monster lab
I hope to see the next one sooner! looking forward to it!
This is great, thank you for making these videos!
Glad you like them!
This is 1 talented dude
I love watching craftsmen at work and you are one. Thanks for being a great instructor and making this look attainable. Can't for the next part.
Thank you for this series! I've been looking for a good mask tutorial that skips using silicone for a while. The host is really engaging and relaxing and it's cool to just see stuff get made!
great show miss your TV show! can't wait to see more.
Appreciate your time making this video Ed, nice one.
You can be as much talented as you want but not everybody is as charismatic as Ed Edmunds is, I mean the guy is too much fun to watch, I always fast forward the tutorials cause the dudes are always lame and boring, with Ed is just... damn, the video is too short haha ! thanks for sharing, Ed ! this is too generous from you, I'll be sharing this video as much as I can.
he starts putting the plaster on the mask and all I can think is "mmmm forbidden iced cake"
Thanks for sharing your knowledge to keep this art alive!
Awesome video! Thanks Ed.
Excellent !!!! Bravo its great to see a master at work. Thankyou

FANTASTIC!!!! Ed
Great stuff, thanks! That's how I make some of the creatures and sculpts for my van.
Ed you have great skills and thanks for the instruction I have to try this
Great channel! I am really amazed by the quality of the content!
I like the Bob Ross reference I personally thought you were the sculptor version of him lol
Fascinating
way to go Ed!!!!
Okay. I'm subscribed and hooked. Can't wait for the next one
Awesome been wanting to learn how to do this. Can't wait to see if you show how to do it with a bust or the little full props and figures
I really enjoy these I actually learn from these lol hope the next one comes out soon so I can do the next step. love these vids
you can use burlap to add strength to mold! add 3 lays to mold after do detail bush soaking barlap in your plaster. ultcal 30 what you nomal use to make foam molds if you plan to run foam in it.
I really wish you would have shown more about how the hell to get all the clay out of the mold, this is IMO the hardest part of the entire process!
It can be! I'll cover it better in another video.
water jets. cover clay in vaseline or sth similar
Crap I'm most of the way through the video and that was my biggest question lol.
The few molds I have made, I prefer to carve wax, and do a lost wax casting style, just met it out in an oven. clay is much harder to remove.
I use a hose that on a almost pressure washing setting you just have to be super careful to not damage the mold
What a cool guy. Thanks for the information.
Very informative and looking forward to the latex mold part! :)
i love all of this!
I love the very Gentle method of removing the sculpture from the base. HAHA.
Great video Ed, hope to see the next one sooner than later.
Jack...
You will.
Thank you so much for this!!!
I am so glad to have found your channel! Although I wish I had found it sooner. I'm really looking forward to learning how to get all of that clay out of your plaster mold. I tried to make a latex mask for my son (he wanted to be Sloth from the movie Goonies) and it turned out okay, not as perfect as I had hoped, but I really struggled getting the clay out of the mold. I had followed another CZcamsrs advise and used wood glue as a barrier between the clay and the plaster and it really did not work well for me at all, I will use the gloss Kryolan paint from now on. Can't wait for the next video :)
Now I am in suspense. At least I have something cool to look forward too. Subscribed and shared.
This is great
I love this videos!
Cool I used to want to work in the industry when I was a kid I watched MRS Doubtfire and that's what I wanted to do . Wish I had done it !
love your videos!
Hey instead of using the hemp that's stringy like that you can get burlap strips it's just a lot faster 👍🏻
Great Massive Mold
very nice art...I like it! Thumbs up and subscribed...
You deserve so many more Subs
Idk why, but I loved seeing the hemp disappear into the mold.
I've been looking for the hemp you used.. but I don't know what it's called.. is it like "hemp fibers" or "hemp string"?
buen video man saludos chicos
you are amazing bro
Hey there Ed, I am completely impressed by your talent! I have been watching your videos and am proud to say that I created a scary character and he is great! I sculpted the clay a day ago, made the mold today and have filled the mold with mask latex. I am currently waiting for it to dry before tackling the painting. Just wanted to send you great thanks and to let you know that I have enjoyed your sense of humor and talent greatly!
Hi Samuel! All of us at Distortions thank you for your kind words and we are happy you enjoy the Monster Labs. Congrats on creating your first character! Wishing you all the best!
Thanks for the video's.
Oh man! Can't wait til the next video! How long do you think we'll be waiting till wee see the Alien Zombie in all it's glory?
Not so long, we got really busy!
Derp Derpson hffff
repost
THATS SO AWESOME THANKS FOR SHARING !! HFL !!
I kinda cringe up when I saw you whacking the base plate to get the mold off of it, I'd be incredibly scared to shatter my mold by that! But hey, you're the professional here ^^
You could use a splash brush for the plaster and glue size to slow it down for bigger pieces
Yu are like Bob Ross I love yur work great job :D There's no mistakes only happy accidents ;)
Why has this guy only got 900 subs
This is a great series! I have a quick query though--first time sculpt/mold; I let my clay dry and harden first, and I want to put plaster on the sculpture, but I'm wondering if I'll be able to remove the dry clay from the mold...should I just cut my losses, start over, and apply plaster while the clay is still damp and flexible?
Thank you for making your videos! Where do you get the hemp from?
Check out our list of what clay we use and supplies in the video description. (Amazon Affiliate Links)
Hey Ed! Why do you prefer #1 pottery plaster over ultracal 30. Pottery plaster is much softer no? Also what do you use for for foam positives?
hi edd, will the next part be out before christmas, thanks.
I have a question. I live in a rural area and have access to hay and pine straw. Can either one of those sub out the Hemp? I love these videos by the way. Thank you very much
Hi I hope you guys still respond to questions on this video! If I am making a full head mask that covers the entire face would I want to cast the entire head in one setting or split it between the sides of the head, i am also using oil based clay that I've been told is reusable, does this mean I should not spray it with the paint?
Can you do in fiberglass or liquid plastic
I was just thinking that this guy reminds me of bob Ross and then he referenced him
I want to eat the mask. Looks so creamy!
Incredible! About how many pulls are these plaster molds good for?
About 50
Hey ed, I was wondering where can you buy hemp?
