Worlds Brightest LED Light Bar - 4kW LED Array

I initially built a 4kW LED array using 40 100W emitters with 60 degree glass lenses, but the beam was a bit to wide to be practical for use on a vehicle.
After that I built a 1.8kW array using 18 100W emitters with parabolic reflectors. It had much better long distance throw and was way more practical (but still not very practical).

Make a water proof version to look below the sea
It would bounce off of everything in the water.
It would be about as effective as using this light while driving in snow.
@@Ali-kp7bh that's still wrong. Under the sea, you'll find the seabed which is Rock.... Etc. But they teach you that in the songs. You want the light to look into the ocean.

On the first one yeah. Without the parabolic reflectors it's pretty lame and kind of a fail.
The trouble comes when you get a car coming the other way and you have to turn the lights off! You'll take at least a minutes to adjust to the darkness! (Or your normal headlights)
But this is still super cool! Awesome work!!!

Looks like a comet crashing to earth in slow motion. That's awesome!
Hi there, just found this video today, really awesome, I mean really awesome, I have around 1700 wattts of aircraft lamps on my truck and I'm pretty happy, not met anything on the road brighter but that's because I've not seen you yet, really nice setup you have, I can't afford to go the led route yet so I use the aircraft stuff for now.
Thanks for sharing this with video
Nice light. It really got me thinking about one thing... the sun. To put into perspective this really shows how damn powerful and bright the sun is. How its capable of lighting and warming half of the earth even though its 93 million miles away.
I bet the ISS can see this truck from space
Duh the earth is flat it has been proven already.
maybe rescue teams need these to be attached on helicopters to look for people in search and rescue missions.
Generally rescue teams don't miss people by Metres , but Kilometres.
Y2Kvids
Then they just need to attach 10 of those :P
Perhaps but at those illuminations reflective tape would like up like an arc welder!
Wouldn’t they just use thermal?
Not exclusively - especially when searching water. Spotlights and Mark 1 Eyeballs are still the instrument of choice for close search.
Baby Owl: "Daddy how did you lose your eyesight?"
Dad Owl: "Sit down son, I'mma tell you a story."
Wow..what a fascinating build.
Now wire it up so it strobes, install it on a large drone, fly it high over towns and see how many UFO sightings there are. :)
*turns light on* truck goes from 198 wheel horsepower to 30
Guns Of Spuds 😂😂
Would still have the same amount of power, just most of it would be used running the lights. Under 3hp. 1hp=750w
he had a generator on the bad
I reckon I can build that
Do you understand what wheel horsepower is?
r/woosh
I've searched around the internet, indeed you do have the brightest light bar ever!!
Have you tested this on a broad daylight? I'm curious can it beat the sunlight if a person say stand around 5 meters from the light? Would appreciate it if you test is
You have 4K TV? Daniel had a 4K truck LED!
4kw burro kkkk
4kW kW as in kilowatt
10k hid??
With both of those together you may actually be able to view your lights from GOES 15 or 16 (weather satellite) which have a resolution of 0.102 miles^2 or .25km^2.
Y'all should see if you're able to create a brightening on any of the published images.
*edit - you could pull the images from an online repo or pull them directly from the satellite directly through a SDR.
damn that would be cool, i am trying to remember the youtube channel that was makign thier own antennae(?) to read the images as they were being sent
+any1alive The Thought Emporium?
Through a sdr?
A "SDR" is a software defined radio. It's also generally used as a term for a radio receiver that you can directly plug into a computer without requiring any extra unique/special hardware. They run from around $40 for a cheap one up to around $1000. With additional software you can decode things ranging from SSTV to satellite imagery to satellite TV including 'normal' radio frequencies such as HAM and AM/FM radio.
Hopefully this explains it to you a bit better.
@@ThomasPlaysTheGames could have probably googled it but nice information, sounds like a good summary
How does the decoding work...sounds awesome as hell, and is it much money for the software like thus
Could i grab everything thats get send back and forth from/to satellite?
Awesome. Just the arsenal I need to win these high beam wars.
Have you ever tested the truck and lights on rough terrain? Looks like it would be an excellent search and rescue light.
Impressive as these shots are, it would (probably) be even more interesting to see how bright they are in daylight, when you have the sun as reference!
Looks like I just found my next DIY LED light bar parts! Absolutely amazing!!!! I was going to take 8 Convoy L6 reflectors along with 4.8 amp drivers and XHP70 emitters and build a 32,000 lumen light bar but after crunching the numbers I think 4 of these modules will do the trick. 89 dollars for 14,000 lumens! that's hard to beat. AWESOME VIDEO!!!!!
I wonder what the heat input was to the hood of the truck. 4kW boils a liter of water in 80 seconds. Also, you can cut decent sized sheet metal with a 4kW laser beam.
Holyy!!! That thing is a freakn BEACON!!!
There are military trucks with 200cm anti-aircraft searchlights in the +120kW range..... for the next project i wana see at least 200kW in LED power :D
Yeah but that 120kw searchlight is probably equivalent lumens to a 1.2kw led setup LOL.........Keyword: efficiency.
@@JaayyMan no They use halide lamps these days , 120kw would be in the range of 60-70lumen per Watt , most high power LEDs are in this area too
Peter Zingler Led's are actually more than twice that. Look up the Cree XHP70.2. That can do 181 lumens per watt. And there's others that do even better.
@XHAD Did you just use assume "military" and "overkill" were contradictory?
That would be a lot of heat to remove for an LED setup. HID bulbs don't need to be cooled.
I'm just thinking when your driving, if someone comes round that corner, they are going to be blinded. Like blinded for life.
Yeh, actually really scary thought. Like, did he need a permit to test this because it is extremely anti social and dangerous.
Joe0400 probably not any different from looking at football field lights
@@space.cowboy69 you don't look at football field lights at eye level at 20meters from you in a direct beam. And installation of football lights needs a permit.
I was thinking this is good for when somebody leaves their high beams on you can remind them with this light bar.
@@reddaB You would see the light coming for miles. If you are stupid enough to just look at it wide eyed then you probably shouldn't be driving anyways.
I'm all the way up in Ontario and that light was so bright I spilled my coffee
it would be awesome to see such an application on a drone facing towards the ground at good heights like a sun
Holy s*** this is craziest LED array I've ever seen. The part when you light up whole valley from on top of the hills was just amazing.
It'd be cool to make a synched strobo mode to lower light output and power consumption while keeping a steady non-flickering light beam.
BigClive is probably very excited and wanting to get his spudger on these!
Green Silver true!!
Normal daylight is about a kilowatt per square meter... so it's throwing about much light as a mirror the size of the windshield would at noon, more or less.
It's amazing how well the human eye adjusts to night time.

Kindly tell the name of background music. It's soothing.
Move the array 5 inches back, that way it will not blind you as badly. The light will bounce o the top of the truck and not on the hood.
Bye clear coat
Inches? We don't do that here
Hi, I’ve built a single row light bar and mounted 26 x 100 watt led cobs and water cooled the heat sink, I have 13x 400 watt power inverters each 400watt inverter is powering 2 x 100watt cobs.
I was going to set it up to run off the car 12volt battery but would rather it have its own power source. How would I go about doing that?
Wow this is awesome! Definitely use this light in the dark woods while hunting for Bigfoot. The whole forest would light up and nothing would be able to hide, especially Bigfoot. Also, I’d take this out camping with me so at night when you hear something rustling about in the woods, just turn the light on and see for miles. Ha!!! 🤪😂👍🏼🖖🏼
