Travis's double flip clip still gives me chills with how insane the crowd is even before he goes off.
That night was electric.
And to think he has now landed a triple 3
Yeah when Josh Sheehan landed the triple, that was just ridiculous I really don't want to see anybody try that again, hitting a ramp at nearly 60 miles an hour being probably 70 something feet in the air, I'm glad Josh did it because he landed it and I'm glad no one else has tried it, one of the few tricks I feel that way about because, well yeah.. anyways, unreal!
It looked unreal. I've watched the clip so many times, and my brain still has a little trouble believing my eyes.
The stuff they're doing now is just insane to me. That fact that nearly all of these pull double backflips like its part of basic training now
It's so overwhelming that within the space of a couple of years the backflip went from the most electrifying move to a common move in everybody's arsenal

I'll never forget watching Travis back flip twice that night n all the flashes from all the cameras in the background... Never happen again not a moment so big in the sport..
I watched it live too and yeah, that feeling was just indescribable

Same... Travis is the only pro-race driver I've ever met that I've struggled to talk to... He's been successful at everything...
He has wins in some form or facet in pretty much every form of motorsport except off road trucks and formula cars...
Dude is one of the most talented people with a motor under him ever... Period... He's driven everything: Mx, Sx, FMx, WRX, WRC, Nascar... Dude has done fuckin' everything.
The amount of camera flashes during Travis's double are nuts. Every knew something historical af was about to get thrown.

To me I've always seen Travis pastrana as the hero of motocross. Even watching him on his shows and doing things off the bikes, the guy had zero fear and was amazing to watch
I mostly watched X Games as a kid for the skateboarding but always got so excited when a Travis Pastrana run was coming up

Man xgames in the 2000s was the best ! It just doesn't have the same feel today ,, seats are empty! ,, before social media took over ! Before everyone was on their phones , you just lived in the moment

That is why Travis Pastrana is my idol and hero. So is my father, but Travis is hands down the most amazing human being alive. The significance of what he did, then to apologize to his mom for worrying her and putting her through that. Its just what i respect. How you treat animals and your mom. This guy is the pinnacle of what i consider to be a truly awesome human being.
Travis is a freaking madman !!! That double will always be the peak of the sport! The energy in that building is insane!

Being in the staple center that night was a feeling I’ll never forget. Everyone collectively holding their breaths as he went off the lip and when he landed the walls shook, I was just about in tears of excitement watching my hero pull that. 13 years of ago at that time and still remember it like it was yesterday. Forever the 🐐 199🙌🏻
Let's give some credit to Carey Hart. He's the one that showed the fmx backflip was possible. He lit the fire. And now, if you "only" do a backflip, something must have went wrong.
Wow the energy of the 2003 X Games was so different. I started watching in like 2008 and I was still a kid. I had no idea how crazy it was then.
15:50 to 16:00 is one of the greatest camera shots in the history of sports. Iconic.

When Mike Metzger hit those backflips it was like time stood still for me as a kid.
Amazing memories ❤️ never forget Metzger’s “double” backflip, and Pastrana’s double. The world was watching Travis that night. Chills.

That trick chuck did has to be the hardest trick ever. Nobody even does that trick ever. Everyone is afraid of it.
Caleb Moore did this on a snowmobile on the Winter X Games and Brett Turcotte almost did this on the Winter X. Also Brandon Cormier wins last snowmobile freestyle with the similar trick

For sure. 03-06 was the best. Mulisha and pastrana. Riders today are amazing but meh.

Man, moto used to be the biggest sport at the X Games. Those were the days. I honestly think it has just reached a point where the likelihood of serious injury or death is so high, it doesn't have the same mass appeal it use to.
Where did the crowd go? Sad seeing those empty stands.
