I forgot that I watched this live. I remember being amazed that RC was so dialed in, that he called the 33ft thing before they even failed at 33. He sees patterns better than just about anyone, and I'm a fellow pattern noticer.
I remember watching this live and was just in awe that he shown up to compete at X.

Technically he won every overall in 05 so it’s kind of a perfect season depending on how you look at it. But I do agree that it’s not
Except overall is what matters for a title. So technically he was undefeated he just got out ran a couple times. RC I think he also has the most podium appearance than any other rider.

@racing747 it was a different time , people were into that style back in the early 2000s. Back when metal militia and free style was at an all time high, when riders expressed themselves and were aggressive riders and didn't have to worry about image as much. Tattoos, punk rock, metal etc was still relevant. Back when pants had real leather sewn in the inner thighs, custom designs were a fad. Just a different era

Not taking anything away from Carmichael but with that short run and slick dirt, the torque and traction of the 450 certainly helped him I would think.
Ricky would've been easily clearing that till atleast 38 feet

When they combined the Olympic sports and the X games it ruined both of them. Was a precursor to ruining football and hockey these days. Hopefully baseball remains.

Carmichaels bike probably also made 10-15hp more than any other bike in the competition. That was his factory race bike and it was blatantly obvious.

RC is referred to as the GOAT of AMA motocross/supercross overall. McGrath is the king of AMA Supercross. The sanctioning body is implied with these titles. Obviously Stefan Everts is the GOAT of MXGP and Tony is no slouch in that regard either.

It's the x games for... extreme games. If it was so dangerous do you really think RC would compete? Even if it was his final year racing do you think the best rider would just go out the and do something to hurt himself for a piece of plastic amongst his thousands of trophies?
We had step up jumps at our tiny track and it wasn't a big deal. This is nothing compared to what they're hitting full tilt in a race. Easily clearing 33'in height plus another 100 in distance lol
