- Moto X debuted at X Games in 1999, and this show chronicles the best motorcycle action from the first 10 years. It includes the greatest hits from the golden age of moto: 15-year-old Travis Pastrana winning the inaugural X Games Freestyle contest, Brian Deegan and the Metal Mulisha wreaking havoc, Mike Metzger blowing minds with back-to-back backflips. It’s all here, from the first 360s and body varials to one of the crowning moments of X Games - Pastrana’s legendary double backflip in 2006.
Some of history’s top racers are highlighted, too. Motorcycle Hall of Fame members like Ricky Carmichael, Jeremy McGrath, Doug Henry and Jeff Ward all are featured capturing gold medals in disciplines as diverse as SuperMoto to Step Up.

Every time I see the double back flip from pastrana I get chills.
I think that's the universal response at this point.

The birth of a new sport, it was a unique and welcomed beginning!
The early years were the best. I miss that energy and excitement.
It's still there in riders like Jackson Strong and David Rinaldo.
I miss the old days of X Games.
And I’ve attended all three that were in philly.

The evolution 10 years later is a more exciting thing to watch, riders were more extremes, the likes of levi sherwood and thomas pages doing those double backflips, special flips and that historic bike flips were truly awesome

I remember watching that 2003 Xgames when Nate Adams threw that backflip heel clicker the first time, then Deegan and Pastrana battling it out. That was when everything changed.
There won’t ever be another Travis Pastrana, in my opinion the best of the best he really took freestyle to another level. The Mulisha has a lot of greats but Pastrana will always be the number one name in freestyle.
Never. He is STILL a pusher of the sport and environment to this day. FMX arguably wouldn't be here anymore without him
THESE were the golden days of Freestyle moto X. So much progression in such a short amount of time and personally, I’d make an argument that these riders were, and are still the most talented riders to ever throw a leg over a bike. Simply because they were the guys who pushed the sport to where it is today. And of course, the Revelation 199 of Travis Pastrana on a whole other level. God bless the early years of FMX.

I love progression but its a double edged sword. I love seeing the craziness today, but i miss when our heads EXPLOADED seeing a heel clicker and thought backflips were the holy grail

We have awesome fmxers today, but cause of all the social media and stuff they have no personality at all....it was never
the tricks only that get the crowd to the games, it was the all american kid pastrana, the bad boy deegan, cowboy kenny bartram, mad mike jones, tommy clowers, nate Adams...everyone had his personality and no one ever Attacked a fmx Track like travis did, thats why theres no hype today...the ogs are gone.
