My grandmother is in blue. The original Rizzo
You must be proud
I remember this commercial from the 70's, as a 12-15 year old in NJ. I always loved that guy at the end putting on the dark glasses and combing his hair.
I remember this commercial! Never saw the play, but the movie is my all time favorite!
I saw the national tour in 2009 with Taylor Hicks as Teen Angel
You can’t beat Broadway it’s truly the very Best !!
I saw this many years ago
Actually had a nice time !
I will always love Broadway
It’s a live version &
Performance !
1970 on was a good time for Broadway
Thank you for this!! One of the best shows I have ever seen on B'way. I saw it in 78.
My grandmother was Rizzo in this commercial and that play!!
I so cannot wait for next month's broadcast on Fox of Grease Live! Grease is one of my favorite stage/screen musicals and I hope they don't screw it up.
the original Grease was downtown at the Eden Thw=eatre with Barry Bostwick& Carole Demas as Sandy, yes it was done on THEM
SERINO/COYNE You're the best...Peter Conboy
Omg!!!! Thank you for putting this up on CZcams. I remember as a kid, all activity stopped on my behalf whenever this commercial came on!! I must have been 6 years old at the time. According to the list of the original cast, that was Carol (The Magic Garden) Cemas as Sandy!!! And the dude putting on the shades and combing at the end was priceless!!!!
This commercial is not the original cast. That's actually Candice Earley as Sandy (she's best known for her role as "Donna" on "All My Children", Mimi Kennedy as Jan and Marilu Henner as Marty are also in this commercial.
This isn’t the original 1972 Broadway cast. This is one of the many replacement casts. This one is the cast circa 1976.
WOW I haven't seen this in so many years! Original broadway production NYC commercial of GREASE! I love it! I think this was 1972 although this commercial might be a little later than that. I believe the original production came to the off broadway/broadway stage in the early part of 1972, it starred Barry Bostwick as "Danny Zuko", Carol Demas played "Sandy", Adrienne Barbeau (remember her?) played "Rizzo". I believe that the late Jeff Conway (Taxi) was also part of the original cast. Also, John Travolta had a part in the original production very early in his career. Also,in the original production of Grease they had an enormous (infamous) B&W photo headshot of James Dean taken by the late Roy Schatt which was part of his original Torn Sweater Series. I really love this, it takes me back, great memory thanks for posting! .....
Jeff was kenickie and John was Danny in the movie version
Grease 👋🏻
Wow so cool
Ray DeMattis Forever!
@0:11-0:13 I always thought the guy with the shades was funny the way he walked and the expression on his face (and I was a child at the time). And I STILL think he was funny
What strikes me about this commercial is how much of the song they play without any interruption. You won't see 3 seconds pass in 2020 without some kind of cut or voice-over because people are, or assumed to be, too stupid to be able to follow it due to a lack of attention span.😩
Count the number of camera changes in this short video. Talk about attention span
@00:20 yep thats Marilu Henner (the blonde)!
Why can’t I believe Grease was originally a broadway musical?
0:07 😂 Screaming like a Linke box
So this is what happened to Brad after his night with Frank
Not the original cast but cool commercial anyway.
Wait is that greased lightning if so ITS BLACK WHAT?!!!?!?!
Where is Barry Bostwick?
i di=ont think he even opened it on Broadway when it moved north, nor Carole Demas
@@feathersforfun Barry Bostwick did do the show on Broadway. The whole original off Broadway cast moved with the show. Barry Bostwick was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance as "Danny Zuko".
This is the 1976 Broadway cast. Bostwick and Demas were part of the original 1972 Broadway cast so they were long gone when this TV commercial was made.
@@generationripe6540 - There was a 1974 clip here of a preview of WCBS-TV's "Six O'Clock Report" with Jim Jensen, followed by the first few seconds of this ad.
Is that Carole Demas as Sandy?
The announcer (the late Dan Ingram) mentions "it's the longest running musical on Broadway." I believe it's the late "All My Children" star Candice Earley as Sandy in the TV ad.
nope, I think Ilene Graff, Carole never did the Broadway version sorry to say
@@feathersforfun Carole Demas absolutely did do the Broadway version. She is also on the Original Broadway Cast Album.
@@feathersforfun Incorrect.
Were these balding men supposed to pass for high school kids?
have you seen the film?
