Unpopular opinion - easily the best song in the entire musical
You spelled ‘fact’ wrong
no doubt.
No question
I agree!!!
Yes although it wasn't in the original stage production, it was added for the movie
Anyone else thinks this is the best part of the whole movie?

Ironically this is the only song of the musical that isn't in the style of the '50s.
Yes.

I was 24 years old when Grease was launched. Today at 67 years old, this tune still makes me feel great. Grease is still the word in 2022.
ABSOLUTELY.
My parents were in high school when it came out. Their first date was seeing this movie at the local drive-in. Such an iconic musical.
I was 16 then. Love it and I just saw it again. I am thinking of organizing a GREASE NIGHT if I can find a suitable place!

Few cool facts about this song.
It was written by Barry Gibb but he decided to have Frankie Valli sing it because he thought people were getting burnt out on his vocals after Saturday Night Fever and Frankie and Barry sing in the same range.
Peter Frampton is playing guitar.
Frankie Valli didn’t even have a record deal when he sang this.
He signed with Warner’s and this song sold 8 million copies.
It does have that Bee Gees twist.. Right on for the tip.
Thank you for posting this info, patton303. I was about 8 years old when the movie was out. Was just about to start to googling 'cause i was SO sure in my (false) memory of this being a Bee Gees tune, lol !!

Man, someone in the animation department really hated Stockard Channing.

She wasn't very pretty to begin with.
@@LedosKell Sure compared to Olivia Neuton John its not the same ballpark but she wasn't terrible either. The animator makes it look like she's suffering from a peanut allergy
That's not a pretty drawing, I kinda confess.

The story is developed end of the 50's with a song with rhythm and sound of the end of the 70's.
Yet it works so well.
I was gonna say, it’s pretty amazing how this song sounds both 50s and 70s at the same time, and is brilliant to boot

I was dragged to this movie by my older sister In ‘78 when I was 7 and it has stayed with me since. Glad I was part of history of being able to see such a classic when it first came out and I can say, “I was there.”
My parents were 3 years old when the movie was released (although it was released about 3 months before my mother turned 3)
That's really funny my mother bought me this album Right after it was released and I was also 7 years old. Me and my friends used to dance around the house to it.
Nice to hear, I was born in June 78 and “you’re the one that I want” was no 1 in the Uk.
Haha coincidentally I was also 3 when it came out. The first I heard it was later when my cousins had the soundtrack on vinyl, and it gives me a lot of nostalgia still whenever I hear it.
my dad is 54, when he turned 13 at June 3, 1978. actually, he didn't watched it.

(Born: 26 September 1948 -Died: 8 August 2022) 🌹❤✨
Fun Fact: Jeff Conway played Danny in the Broadway musical. Both John Travolta and Jeff Conway (real-life best friends) auditioned for the role of Danny in the movie. John Travolta got the role, however only agreed to accept it if they gave a role to Jeff - and the character Kenickie was born. While Danny is the leader of the T-Birds, Kenickie is the cool one.

This probably makes me sound REALLY old haha, but I actually saw this film at the drive-in with my family as a young child back in the late 70s when it was a new release. This opening song and title sequence is one of the most potent memories I have of that great period in time and it takes me straight back there. I remember playing on the drive in playground before the film started in my pyjamas. We then went to the candy bar for a choc top before settling in to the movie. I also saw Star Wars at the same drive in! Going to the movies was a big deal back then. At the cinema, there was always a short feature and then an interval before the main feature. Everyone clapped and cheered at the end of the film. This clapping stopped around the mid 80s when video stores became prominent.
@@GAVACHO5150 The movies were so magical to me when I was a kid in the 80s. So much has changed. Now people in the theaters don't even watch the movies, because they're obsessed with their phones, or they just talk through the film. It's so sad. It will never be the same.

I watched this movie in Sweden in 1998 when it had its 20th anniversary. I bought the cd that went along with it too! I looked similar to Olivia Newton John back then with my blonde Swedish hair and pale skin. I was definitely a Sandy in high school and I hated it. I wanted to be cool, like Rizzo! 😩 I’m still a Sandy to this day and I am happily married to my American husband. He looked just like Danny when we first met. Tall, slim, black thick hair and dressed all in black. 😍 Our appearances are slightly different after almost 25 years together… 😂 We’ve lost some hair, gained some weight. We definitely don’t party like we did back then! But we’re still together! And that’s all that matters.
