  • Feisty, sassy or perhaps just assertive? When you're a passionate woman in the work place, it can lead some people to tell you to, "Calm down, dear". Here are some of the things woman have had quite enough of hearing at work.

    The only people complaining about this video are people who've never experienced these types of comments, or people who SAY these types of things to others. Listen to these women, and try to put yourself in their shoes. As an example, I once had a friend who applied for a job and the only reason they didn't hire her was because they weren't looking for "eye candy." It's easy to forget that every person has a different experience in the workforce. Stop dismissing issues because they aren't happening to you. It's more than likely that your mothers, aunts, sisters, daughters, wives, and fellow coworkers have or will experience this.

In every professional setting i have seen black girls anticipate this aggression and believe when you are on edge because you feel you'll be abused. it does not make for an enjoyable work experience.

    Sometimes I feel like people just see the title, and immediately find a negative, sometimes sexist, comment to say. Women work in offices, as they should, if they want to and/or are cable. Women shouldn’t HAVE to wear high heels. Women shouldn’t be looked down upon because they’re women. I’m not saying anything outrageous here, but I feel like some people will get triggered. Are these first world problems? Yes. But that doesn’t mean they aren’t problems, and if you’re complaining about that, you’re no better. I doubt you only have third-world problems.

    At my last job in an engineering company, it became clear that some of the all male board of 30 directors had a habit of going in to female dominated departments and walking over to the minority men in that department to sort out any job/issue they had, bypassing any female senior employee they should have been consulting. There was also comments about those men in these departments being “one of the girls” or need to move to other parts of the business to gain back their masculinity, implying working with loads of women or under them is somehow degrading.
    Women need to be present in directors boardrooms, no matter what industry.

I also don't whinge about men being absolutely non-existant from my supervisory structure. I do my work and am promised a promotion upon completion of discussed goals. I have no reason to believe they would deny me that promotion if I achieved stated goals. I also served 6 years in the U.S. Army which was dominated by men. • @emma-gk8np
      @emma-gk8np Před 6 lety +40

      hinata167 it depends on what job it is and how strict they are with the dress code. but it's very rare it can happen. plus some employers find flats unprofessional- again that is entirely on the job and dress code strictness.

      I imagine a catwalk model might get fired for refusing to wear them.

    • @busorenkin8
      @busorenkin8 Před 6 lety +7

      That's a point that is ignored; it's up to the employer to define the strictness of the dress code. Usually it was made so people wore simple, usually business wear, for jobs so that you would focus on work. It's why uniforms work so well; everyone dresses the name, nothing to complain about. Khakis and polo shirts are two of the most common pieces of clothing in the U.S. workplace

    • @smorevids

I know there’re people here who think it’s all feminist bollocks, but we really aren’t asking for much; if you wouldn’t say it to a male college don’t say it to a woman. hopefully most sexist men- or women even- will see this as a lesson. Maybe if we have more successful women so it becomes the norm these issues will eventually die down.

    Lots of salty men here who can't stand a female-themed video. To those men, what "things not to say" have YOU heard PERSONALLY at WORK? Consider this comment your safe space and feel free to share experiences below. Note, not what people say about white males but what people have said to YOU about YOU. If you post a legitimate hurtful/sexist comment you've received about yourself you'll get a thumbs up and sympathies from me. If you regurgitate circlejerk complaints that haven't happened personally to YOU, you get a thumbs down.

    One time I asked a girl that is my friend " is it that time of the month?" And let's say she beat me black and blue until I said I was a pink dinosaur.
    I have never asked that question since.

  • @queef98

    I dont think the statement ' can I speak with your manager ' is necessarily aimed at women, I think it's just that people expect a manager to be in an office at the back or something and you, the worker talking to the customer, to go to the back and get them for the customer.
    I apologise if my wording was confusing...

    If a woman wants to wear a skirt and heels then yeah, as long as she wants to then it's all good, but she shouldn't HAVE to because heels can be uncomfortable and when you have something to do you want to feel comfortable.

  • @oisin25
    @oisin25 Před 5 lety +3

    Ok the last one and time of the month are completely inappropriate. Why would any guy say that. The bossy thing, id rather be called bossy than aggressive. Ties and suits are not comfortable btw. Men get can i speak to your manager too. I think there is some things here that has nothing to do with gender.
    I hate calm down. The most frustrating thing ever.

  • @yantivity956
    @yantivity956 Před 6 lety +63

    People need to calm down. No one cares when these are about teachers, doctors, short people or tattoos but as soon as they do one about anything vaguely political like race or gender everyone loses their minds and shouts buzzfeed. They're probably going to do men later

    I’m a 13 year old boy and me and my year were on a 3 day trip to an activity thing... place and one of the activities was a huge zip wire. My group leader was a really horrible/cruel female teacher. The waiting line we stood in was about 40 kids long and for absolutely no reason our group leader just brought all the girls to the front and pushed all the boys to the back. I asked her why she did it and she just completely blanked me. THAT is sexist.

      Yes. Yes it is. Gender equality is when both girls and boys get the place in the line regardless of gender. She shouldn't bring boys to the front either. And may you carry this example with you your whole life young man.

      As if anyone that isn't in the field of psychology or suffers from it themselves would even know what it is lol. Most people that have it don't even know they do. I only discovered it was a thing a little over a year ago, at age 29, and I've been pulling hair out since age 10 or 11. I just took for granted it's that annoying and embarrassing thing that only really me in particular would do, and never bothered looking into it.

      This one bugged me, too. Unless you've already led that person to believe you're the manager, why would they just assume you are? I would wager women and men get asked for a manager about the same amount.

    • @feathersong5838

      The reason why they complain about that us because it's very common for people to always say "who's the man in charge." They almost never say it the other way.
