There's this moment in this whole thing I can absolutely relate to. It's the moment when Stephen realizes he's gonna choke on his own spit if he doesn't pull himself together. Nothing deadlier than a laughing fit.
66kaisersoza because their are only 2 major producers of screen entertainment for people who speak english, and they naturally get compared to each other
66kaisersoza American humour is technically the enemy. Both countries have produced countless amounts of television series, standup comedians, etc, and they both seem to tie in well with the corresponding cultures, easily identifiable by their country of origin, with each having various recurring elements. I guess the single most reason we compare it to the Americans though is that the entire world is being flooded with American products. Our televisions are spammed with countless sit-coms about middle class families in very average conditions, trying to 1-up themselves and be a better person. Our cinemas are filled to the brim with 1 1/2 hour comedy films about nothing in particular, featuring That Funny Guy and his buddy John or Steve or Glenn. The American arts for the most part come as a threat to us, so we are frequently trying to find support from those around us, helping to justify our fondness of the lesser.
I do love it so when they tease to brilliant Mr. Fry and make his cheeks go red from embarrassment. QI is the most distinguished, gut funny, intelligent, brilliant panel show on the face of this good earth. Good day and good fortune to you all, you blessed bunch of ragtag muffin beaters
Oh God, the first time I watched this, I was CRYING from laughing so hard. I managed to stave back tears this time, but damn does my face hurt. They say WHAT of the Acropolis where the Parthenon is? This has to be my favourite moment in the entire show, and I've watched quite possibly EVERY episode there's been!
joey saha He's done Awesome things and achieved sooo much , Truly the depression is a Bad thing, Mental health so doesnt make logical sense , But He has has an Epic journey of Ups and Downs through this life and when his time does come he shall be remembered into immortality for his wonderus Humour and Epic adventure.
***** A country with a boring, repetitive lifestyle where all the towns and neighborhoods all look the same and a youth that doesn't know how to behave and treat Britain is if it is their playground to terrorize? Or the same country where everyone has an obsession for football, a sport British people can't even play seeing how we've never won any world cup except for just one years ago. But oh well, i suppose it doesn't also matter that as a nation we are an embarrassment to ourselves anyway.
If you keep repeating the last word of everything someone says, like Rob Brydon does here, eventually they will use the word echo or echoed, just like Stphen Fry does. Try it!
Komninos Maraslidis I had understood that the curvature specifically attributed to the parthenon was of the platform (stylobate). On further reading I see that there is a more common curvature -- entasis of the the columns. But that's not just the parthenon.
I was drinking a cup of tea as I started watching this video, then scrolled down and read your comment. I put the cup well out of the way until the video was over. Best decision I ever made! Thank you, kind sir, for your comment, which saved my laptop from a terrible end!
As if proof were needed, this goes to prove that Stephen Fry is not only stupidly well-educated (is there anything [which matters - i.e. anything to do with "The Kardashians", baseball, (c)rap "music", etc. does *not* count] that he doesn't know about?), exceedingly bright and extravagantly funny, but also quite unbelievably *tolerant*...! Anyone else would have stormed off in a rage - or at least have looked a tiny bit irritable! It's not possible to over-estimate Stephen Fry as a human being, on so many levels I don't know where to start. Such a shame that he's leaving QI. It'll be like Fawlty Towers without John Cleese... :/
+ExceptedLemon Yeah, but have you heard him in interviews and unscripted things. And have you read his books? He is so obviously an excruciatingly brilliant man and an exceedingly funny one.
+Kartoon Killa Do you actually think I am going to have a converstion with someone who thinks that "u" is an English word? Oh and: if you *genuinely* don't know why I brought up (c)rap music, you have missed my point by a wide mile.
Chantal Schot not really playing it properly but throwing the ball about. and they are kids from my school and they are a bit special. i also never said it was a place to play basketball
Bremen Boy Darby Well it just came across as if you found it weird that Brydon shouted at kids for playing basketball on the train. Which seems quite logical to me, given the fact that children aren't supposed to be playing with balls on the train, I think. :P
Chantal Schot I didn't find it weird, but the kids were from my school so it was awkward, because he probably thought we were retards as well, when we actually know how to behave, but the kids playing basketball, who are in the year below me, were being idiots.
Richard The Lionheart Really? Or is it more likely that there has yet to a woman who works well with the others on the show? David Tennant, while an awesome person was pretty shit when he was on QI. Women and men are actually very alike, and how well they work with others when producing comedy or intellectual conversation doesnt depend on gender. So ha.
doesn't change the fact that qi is funnier when it's all men on it. No where did i say that it's because women are not as funny that was you that assumed that. I simply stated that qi is funnier when it's all men onit for whatever reason and ill like to thank you for giving a possible explanation.
george matthews I know and I agree that thus far the all male episodes have been the best, I'm just saying it doesnt make it any less likely that the next female guest will be fantastic
One trait of an intelligent and balanced grounded person is the ability to laugh at oneself and to recognise affectionate humour when personally directed.
4 great comedians all on the same wavelenght, I love QI but the moments where they deviate from the questions will be the moments the we'll remember
'Bloody Hell Stephen... this better be good!'
3:00 on the right, the humor temporarily snaps reality
Bri'ish comedy, best in the world! To turn a simple historical fact in a fullblown comedy-routine is a rare thing but these guys master it.
There's this moment in this whole thing I can absolutely relate to. It's the moment when Stephen realizes he's gonna choke on his own spit if he doesn't pull himself together. Nothing deadlier than a laughing fit.
Xam271 the truth has been spoken
Those magnificent Bastards. Love seeing Stephen Fry laughing hysterically.
Hedwig Art As Emma Thompson said, "It's great to make someone very intelligent fall apart like that."
Americans could never beat British humour in reality form
Not by a long shot.
Why do we always compare our humour to the Americans? Just wondering...
66kaisersoza have you ever seen a popular film or any kind of show that is not English?
66kaisersoza because their are only 2 major producers of screen entertainment for people who speak english, and they naturally get compared to each other
66kaisersoza

Can't believe they cut this! It's gold.
When it first released, it was on TV. I remember
UK DarkPredator I think there are 30 min and 40-45 min versions of some episodes
jonoderidder Yup QI XL is the longer version
Imagine how great this was live!!!!
I love how Brydon winds Stephen up so effortlessly
Just a magnificent assemblage of comedic talent.
British humour rules.
Bloody hell Stephen... This better be good... BEST LINE!
STILL my favourite moment from QI
This is why we love Stephen Fry.
+freddo 1614 you do realise this is Stephen Fry? He is actually gay. Also it's Paedo.
You will never have a TV show in America with comedians talking about Greek ruins.
Why talk about Greece when you can talk about the GREATES CUNTRY ON URTH MURICA!
wowza
Not just 4 comedians, but 4 great comedians.
I don't ever remember crying laughing. This is the first exception! 😂
stephen's just parthenon the information
But do you know what an Acropol is?
baddmanaz Brilliant :')
securityrobot So what your saying is that he's passing on information from these researchers to the guests and audience?
AAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH
This is awesome , Imagine having those 4 top Chaps all just focusing thier comedy for you . Awesome .Steven fry Has such an epic life.
I think that's an ignorant thing to say.
indeimaus Why?
well seeing as he's a manic depressive and attempted suicide last year i wouldn't realy say he has an 'epic life'
joey saha He's done Awesome things and achieved sooo much , Truly the depression is a Bad thing, Mental health so doesnt make logical sense , But He has has an Epic journey of Ups and Downs through this life and when his time does come he shall be remembered into immortality for his wonderus Humour and Epic adventure.
Definition of Epic (Know thine English) An exceptionally long and arduous task or activity:
I'm going to miss Fry.
+TheJohn8765 stephen fry is forever
is he dead? aids?
Ben Dover Yes, he exploded one night from aids.
what....is he dead??
+Abdul Gemayyel no. hes just quiting Qi
Totally cryin' here and I've seen this loads of times!!
Was a struggle, but he finally got there. Stephen can overcome all troubles
Seen this so many times and it still cracks me up!! :-)
an absolute gem, thanks for uploading this.
Beautiful!!!! What a great start to the day, i had tears rolling down my cheeks & I'm still giggling :D
Thanks for posting!
This makes me so proud to be British omfg I cant breathe
+Lucy Lu You're proud to be a citizen of the most depressing shithole of a country in the world?
+James Batchelor Are you just looking for a fight? Do you want to take this outside, my son?
+James Batchelor Ever thought its not the country thats depressing, its just you?
***** A country with a boring, repetitive lifestyle where all the towns and neighborhoods all look the same and a youth that doesn't know how to behave and treat Britain is if it is their playground to terrorize? ***** Yep your depressed. Look at other countries around the world, England has it very good.
My sides hurt.
no matter how many times I watch this, it's still bloody hilarious
Hilarious spontaneous moment of comedy. Stephen Fry takes it all in his stride. It's a great skill to be able to laugh at yourself.
"What do they say? What do they say?" 😂
I was crying with laughter at this and I completely went when Alan said "What do they say? What do they say?" :'DDD
I'm in tears...I needed that, thanks.
Fantastic! :-D I absolutely love the five of these... you can't get a better group in an episode!!
Good video, but I have a question: What DO they say about the Acropolis where the Parthenon is?
Zelousmarineinspace That there are no straight lines.
Haha, this is just SOOO reminiscent of the spam sketch from monty python!
Lord, that was the best four minutes I've spent on CZcams ever. Thank you for sharing that!
To me this is the epitome of British humour . Something from nothing. It happens at parties with fun people. Brilliant! I love it.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😅😅
Oh my gosh my face hurts from laughing so much loool
wow...blocked in the US. Can't watch it.
David Coulter oh damn, what a shame.
+David Coulter Find an IP address block proxy or youtube proxy website :)
They say of the acropoloobalopalibaooboolboopali.
This is the funniest thing I have watched in weeks! :)
Nothing better than a good belly laugh and good cry with it😂😄😂love QI Great Show.
I like the train delivering sweets.
QI - the Gilbert and Sullivan musical episode... :D
You, my friend, made my month. :)
How the hell did this not make the original cut? Pure comedy gold!
Stephen crying with laughter! :D
This is what happens when you join four comedians together at a single table.
+RadioactiveSand
They were actually at 2 seperate tables...look again genius.
Clive Bindley Oooohhh, what a big deal, now that changes everything! xDDDDDDDDDDDDD
+RadioactiveSand
No..it just means that your statement was wrong.
Just accept it like a grown up and move along, there's a good lad.
Clive Bindley So?? xDDD It's an absolutely irrelevant detail xDD Are you trying to make a joke or something?
+RadioactiveSand
The only joke here is you.
This is pretty much my favorite video on CZcams.
Just watched this for about the fifteenth time. First time I had back pains from laughing for about ten minutes.
If you keep repeating the last word of everything someone says, like Rob Brydon does here, eventually they will use the word echo or echoed, just like Stphen Fry does. Try it!
don't watch with broken ribs!!
This is my favorite clip of the whole series.
You could never script this, still having a good laugh.
1:40 Stephen Fry: "They say of the acrop-apop-acropolis wher where the path a money Is"
I think he meant to say no PARALLEL lines. Seems to have go a bit distracted along the way!
Komninos Maraslidis
I had understood that the curvature specifically attributed to the parthenon was of the platform (stylobate). On further reading I see that there is a more common curvature -- entasis of the the columns. But that's not just the parthenon.
***** Did you see this episode of QI?
Dinkzta Yes
***** k :)
***** Yes quite.
I was drinking a cup of tea as I started watching this video, then scrolled down and read your comment. I put the cup well out of the way until the video was over. Best decision I ever made! Thank you, kind sir, for your comment, which saved my laptop from a terrible end!
Love this scene. This is the reason I started to watch QI, I never heard of it before considering I live in Belgium.

Why u bringing rap music into your quite fucking ridiculous comment
90% of the things he says on qi are scripted, not quite sure how well your point stands
+ExceptedLemon Yeah, but have you heard him in interviews and unscripted things. And have you read his books? He is so obviously an excruciatingly brilliant man and an exceedingly funny one.
Cordelia Palmer yes, i am aware of his intelligence, im just pointing out that you can't analyse his intelligence from hosting QI
+Kartoon Killa
Do you actually think I am going to have a converstion with someone who thinks that "u" is an English word?
Oh and: if you *genuinely* don't know why I brought up (c)rap music, you have missed my point by a wide mile.
No straight lines? That's a straight line if I ever heard one! (OK, not really but...)
This has made my day.
This is brilliant!
Misleading. "Loses it" means got mad.
Not always, it can also mean losing it with laughter.
Jimmy Carr is such an unfunny bellend.
My favorite moment ever on QI, I keep going back to it XD
I'm pretty sure this was a milestone in British comedy
I can't be the only one who finds Rob Brydon to be quite irritating
He lives near me and he was on my train once and shouted at some kids for playing basketball on the train lol
Bremen Boy Darby Well why would kids be playing basketball on the train? That's not a place to play basketball, really, is it...

qi is so much funnier when it's all men on it
sexism at its finest huh friend
Tubbs Tubbs.
It's true though.

put simply it makes me so happy to watch this :)
Great post.. Thanks
love this show..its brilliant :-)
Absolutely brilliant :)
I love how Stephen is almost crying from laughter... THAT sound he makes is just awesome!
you can't help but smile along with them all
Thanks!
in tears.
Man...this is good television!
Oh -I needed this tonight. I laughed so hard- my face is wet and it hurts... it's a good hurt. :o)
that is the funniest thing i have seen in a very long time, actually couldn't breath
Saw this thumbnail with the title and immediately started singing. :P
Any episode with Bill Bailey is bound to turn into a riot of fun.
I laughed so hard when I first saw this... five times in a row...
I love it where Alan says "Jesus Stephen, this BETTER be good!"
Piss my pants everytime.
One trait of an intelligent and balanced grounded person is the ability to laugh at oneself and to recognise affectionate humour when personally directed.
Utterly amazing
CRYING--this is my favourite bit of QI
Brydon, Bailey, Carr and Fry... such wonderment!! I could melt into a puddle of blissful wallowing...
This is inspired chaos. Marvelous.
this is seriously the greatest moment on tv history
oh my gosh.. this has to be one of the funniest i've seen!
Such clean harmless fun. Certainly made me giggle.
One of the best all time moments on qi
Quality television. Rare.
I wish we had these panel shows in north america
Bill Bailey, Rob Brydon and Jimmy Carr that's a good line up.
one of the best moments in British comedy. period.
I think I just woke my whole house up laughing :')
you're brilliant!
