- Episode 58 - What did we get with CD-ROM systems? That's right, Full Motion Video. Let's take a look at some of these FMV games that we love to hate. Yes, the video of us in this episode is running on a real Sega CD.

Hahahahahaha! That FMV intro is AWESOME!
The bonus at the end is better!
@@roxynanothat's what she said 😉
@@Godsgood111 She likes it that way.
"Night Trap will never appear on a NIntendo system." And now it's on Switch. Haha.
Joe, I loved the bonus segment at the end. It perfectly captures the spirit of most FMV live action games, how they berate you and belittle you all the time.
The Final Scene was so funny XD
Joe: "so you going on vacation huh?"
Dave: "yeah, somewhere dirty and mean."
Lol, love these skits you guys do after the show.
Full motion video, as opposed to video that isn't full motion!
Dave Hobbs you haven't heard of HMV and QMV?
I’d rather it be full-fucking-screen!
@@justanotheryoutubechannel It's supposed to be full motion video game (FMVG). FMV is just a wrong abbreviation that stuck.
Dench2020 And anyone that directs senseless and uncalled-for insults towards an anonymous individual on the Internet definitely has severe asperger’s.
Also, anyone who responds to comments that are over 6 months old and makes pathetic self-referential jokes about it in fear of being called out for it is definitely a raging crackhead
Two words: Stop Motion
Oh man I thought you said over 6 years, not 6 months! Guess I am a assburger then. Lol
I'll be honest, in the Sherlock Holmes game, the video quality looks a lot better on the Turbo. The Sega CD version looks like it uses a lot of dithered colors to create each frame, while the Turbo version looks cleaner and sharper. Plus, I'm just amazed that they put FMV in the TurboGrafx without an arcade card!
Dragons Lair and Space Ace on the iPhone & iPad are a ton of fun, and they include an easy mode which is VERY forgiving the timing. Great video as usual
That parody at the end was friggin' great!
loved that last skit! i was literally rolling on the floor cuz i was a hardcore sega cd fmv gamer back in the day!
The video quality hurt my eyes a little, but I still loved the feel of the nostalgia in this episode!! Also, the end, freakin' hilarious~!!
one of the most creative ideas I've seen for video game related content
I love how in NFL's Greatest, the players on your team just completely change based on the highlight. "Rice is in motion. Young takes the snap, he morphs into Joe Montana. Montana with the handoff to Craig, and he's tackled after a pickup of about 4 yards."
Okay, so I've been slowly going through all of your videos in my free time and I am really happy with everything I have seen so far but this is my favorite one yet. Really clever approach to the FMV genre and the ending made me laugh really hard.
I've just been Game Sacked, bitch... and I like it. :-)
Thanks! This is one of my favs as well and it was a blast to make.
Game Sack Like blast processing? Har Har Har
I'm currently running through the entire video playlist, and I feel like its a toss up between this and the Lucky Hit segment from the Polarizing Games video for the "Best of Game Sack". So far.
I LOVED the ending. You should make an actual fmv game. I'd play it.
That is so cool how this was actually made on a Sega CD.
The 'ending' was so true to many Sega CD fmv games. I felt weirdly nostalgic just watching that!
Is this episode available anywhere to burn to a CD-ROM Disc and actually play it on the Sega Genesis Compact Disc System?
Brian must have taken it down. I thought I saw it up somewhere like a ROM site but can't remember where exactly.
Game Sack
It's still up. I found it on the ISO Zone.
Can you leave a link please?
Just go to google and search for the site Kyle mentioned in a previous comment plus Game Sack
Can it be played on an emulator?
“Night Trap will never be on a Nintendo system “. How ironic that it’s now on Nintendo Switch…
When I saw the title, I was thinking it was gonna be about FMVs in Genesis and SNES games. Which would have been interesting to see. Although, I don't know of any of those games having FMVs, besides Sonic 3D Blast.
The codec is actually worse if it needs to pause. It's probably not compressed at all. Yes, the colors are better (though certainly not a "million times"), but I'll put up with a bit more washed-out look and a touch more macro-blocking because both is far less annoying than the constant pausing. Thanks for watching!
I'm writing this blindly as my eyes bled dry during this episode. Nicely done thematically, props for that!
This episode brought back some awesome memories. Nice job guys!
A great intro you guys, when it started playing, I thought - here we go again with slow connection, CZcams is automatically switching into 144p!
Oh man! That ending skit is one of the best!
"The video quality was improved a bit" Are we looking at the same screen? The turbo version looks quite a bit clearer and with fewer artifacts. The lack of hitching seems to be the only advantage of the sega copy.
And a HUGE advantage it is. I'll take smooth playback over a teeny bit more detail any day.
+Game Sack dude have you recorded the whole video on a Sega CD?
Yes.
I DON'T have a problem with that.
I can't say I would agree. The Sega CD is oddly such a huge step down in video quality that I think I would rather have the stuttering.
It's like you answered my wishes and made this episode just for me. Thanks!
I love the breadth of games covered, the grainy video and the clever ending. Here's to much more Gamesack goodness.
Slowly making my way through oldest to newest for the first time.
You've definitely hit your stride at this point, excellent ep.
This and the pioneer ep have been my favourites so far which is weird as I can't stand FMV games for the most part.
Classic gamesack and coffee in rainy night... Life is good right now...
22:47 This brought in a flood of memories! I remember playing this when I was very young at family's house but couldn't remember what it was called and just forgot about it. Seeing this footage and hearing the music though got me finally remembering this game and the very awesome and experimental music as well as the zany FMV sequences with the host! Thanks!
you guys have a special way to finish your videos, nobody get off without seeing the video until the end
Coolest intro ever. After watching every single episode over the last few years..... This is the one. Amazing stuff dude(s)
The ending of this episode was hilarious.
Great job guys!
Tomcat Alley, Sewer Shark(3DO especially), Surgical Strike is my favorites true FMV's. Lethal Enforcers is replayed on my Sega CD a lot too. Not all FMV games were bad but lot of them were.
Still my favorite episode!!! So amazing you made a real sega cd video of you and Dave!
A new fan here. I'm enjoying the content and the geeky humour big time. We're from the same era of gaming, so everything you guys talk about makes me smile. Keep up the great work.
Truly awesome job on this one! The ending was just priceless, and I love how you actually did your own video running on a real Sega CD.
One of the funniest episodes!! Awesome content guys!
One of the best video ever! We need part 2!
Brilliant ending scene, you guys make a great show, if not the best of its kind on youtube
Your interview last night was fun! Thanks for answering our questions!
RIP, Dwayne
Just one of my favorite episodes ever guys. Great job. And the sega cd still rocks
Each episode gets better an better. Good work guys. That ending was killing me XD
this is the best video quality I have ever seen in a very long time
Brilliant idea guys. This show just keeps getting better.
Great episode once again guys! Much love and respect.
Best intro/outro ever! Man that was great
"He always wanted to be a boxer! Until the tragedy.." LOL! X'D
Only recently discovering your channel, I've been working my way backwards through your library of videos. This episode is a real stand out, love the way you put your spin on the FMV topic. The ending was priceless, I had a great chuckle. I can't imagine anyone liking being insulted by a game, what a different time it was then.
Please make future episodes with twists like this one if possible, loved it.
I played Night Trap with my uncle, who has since passed away, when I was very young, so I’ve always had a soft spot for it. Still one of my favorite games today.
OMFG I laughed so hard xd when I saw your old school FMV intro! love your show guys
The video quality is amazing!
how do you guys do it... you ALWAYS make your show/videos better then the last.. This one just took me waaaaaaaay back to my youth about sega cd.. from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for every single show, it is the BEST SHOW on the NET ..EVER !! Loved the style, editing, and the awesome nostalgia feel for the sega cd.. Dont EVER stop making your videos.. Thank you, thank you , thank you !!!
Great finish guys, really captured how FMV games were back in the 90's.
This channel deserves a million subs.
Great segment. I never knew there were so many fmv Sega CD games. I myself have quite a few but it looks like I need to go hunting for more. Awesome presentation in the Sega quality fmv look.
Great episode! Love the bit at the end.
Awesome, awesome episode! Great job, guys! Love the ending!
Great show guys , worth the wait.
That opening, and that ending, fucking classic. The worst thing about watching a new episode is having to wait the two weeks, but once the day comes, you guys really deliver.
EXCELLENT show!!!! I am glad I stuck with my Genesis when the Sega CD first came out. You guys are awesome.
Don't know what took me so long to find these reviews, i'm having a blast, another great video and i love the ending , Ghost aint got nothing on that guy
Brilliant episode of Game Sack. Best use of a Sega CD in the past 20 years. Tom Zito would be proud.
brings back memories I wish you'd do a sequel about the later more well made stuff for PC psx etc. like seventh guest braindead 13 hologram time traveler a fork in the tale.
These guys always make me happy even when I’m so down I couldn’t get further deep without a shovel
Great episode as usual guys!
This may be one of your best episodes yet! I really love the extra mile you guys took to replicate the look of those FMV games...
As bad as the genre of FMV was, I wish Penn & Teller's Smoke and Mirrors got an actual release
The only FMV games I like are Road Avenger, Night Trap and Tomcat Alley...Still, they seemed to be better in those good old times :-)
Fair enough. Keep up the great videos guys!. I really enjoy the show. Especially when you's review FMV and similar games.
The Grainy intro made me laugh harder than it probably should have.
I'm very glad I stumbled on this channel great review.i learned done new games
Awesome episode as always!
I loved the hell out of Mansion of Hidden Souls when I was seventeen.
HAHA, so awesome! The ending was probably the best stuff I've seen in the show so far!
I don't like fmv games, but I do, however, enjoy games with fmv cut scenes between the levels. That is the best use of fmv. Great episode!
the intro really caught me off guard. love it!
Superb... Quality video that is well presented and well thought out.
What an excellent video! I was actually a pretty big fan of the FMV games. I liked your sentiment about playing a Saturday morning cartoon- that's exactly how I felt the first time I played Dragon's Lair. The end of episode clip to this was fantastic! I aspire to have such quality videos. I look forward to Game Sack so much after I've watched the newest episode. Keep up the wonderful, wonderful work, guys!
what? the grainy graphics, the b-movie acting, omg, that's EXACTLY what I love in those games
This was awesome back in the day, if you can believe it. We were used to, like, Mario and Sonic, and then suddenly we had actual video footage and movie audio in games. It was mind blowing.
Great episode guys.
Oh man, I had Mad Dog McCree on the Phillips CDi with the light gun. It was amazing for its time but definitely has not aged well. Another great episode guys. Keep it up
man, i love this episode
This video was great. New subscriber now. Glad to have found you!
Dracula Unleashed is one of my favorite FMV's. I love the FMV games!
this presentation was hilarious, thanks! hahaha
Hang on, you madmen actually converted your episode to a format the Mega CD understood had then filmed it off a real console!? That’s insane! I love it! Of course, it looks awful, since it has to be super-dithered, and even then the colours have an insufficient gamut.
God damn that’s so dedicated of you, even putting it on a real Mega CD, I just love it.
Great simulation of sega cd and the FMVs games, great, great mrgamesack
Awesome episode.
LOL Awesome guys you really captured the feel of FMV at least on the SegaCD lol.
that after the credits scene was the best one yet!
I loved the ending and the grainy sega CD style video by the way
That was a really awesome episode...man that was cool. Thanks fellas
Best ending skit i've seen so far
That FMV intro messed with my eyes. Bravo! ;)
That last skit was funny, had to watch it a few times. haha
Haha this ep had possibly the best ending skit of them all
You guys kill me!!! I've never laughed so hard
I enjoyed FMV games growing up and would so totally play that Game Sack FMV game!
The ending was awesome! I really liked that. :)
great show and great opening and ending. I can't believe you didn't mention the Jurassic Park game for the Sega CD. :) though I guess it wasn't ALL fmv so maybe then it didnt count. Still, how you guys managed to film, encode and display the entire episode in sega cd graphics is just... amazing. Top stuff. Only downer will be waiting for next time.. *sad face* lol
