- A subsidiary of the toy mongrel Hasbro, Tiger Electronics, for many years, managed to satisfy the rapidly expanding video game demands by producing and releasing a whole infestation of very low-quality handheld LCD "games" that somehow gave off the impression that you were holding an actual NES right in the palm of your hands. But the truth is, IT WORKED! Since another main facet to market economy is that the products that people buy the most are the ones that get produced the most, Tiger proceeded to milk their new money grab for all that it was worth, and even tried their hand at releasing whole video game consoles for the sake of it. The Nerd casts his eye on a selection of hardware by Tiger Electronics, including a selection of LCD handheld games and wristwatch-styled games, plus two portable consoles - the Game.com and the R-Zone. You have to admit, the artistry of the Tiger Electronic game is kind of impressive. I mean, these guys had to design an entire game with multiple frames of animation where every single sprite slots together on one screen. The ways they saved space and made the artwork as simplistic as possible is really interesting.
I did like looking at those screens with all the sprites at once :)

I think AVGN was just being a bit over-sensationalist here. I recently picked one up and there are a few of these that were made that had rather addicting gameplay
I mean, Nintendo did the same thing with their G&W Series, but I will agree with AVGN's point where Tiger went for a Quantity Route.
Regardless, I admire Tiger's Attempt on all of their LCD Games.
It’s so low tech, yet so fascinating in how they managed to make it work, all things considered.

The best thing about the most recent episodes of the show is that I now appreciate episodes from this era all the more. It was a bit past its prime here, but the passion and charm was still there.
I know! I’m only a teenager so I didn’t grow up with the beginning of Angry Video Game Nerd episodes, but going back and comparing the episodes from then to now, I’ve realized the old ones are a lot better!
The middle era of 2011 to around 2016 is underrated.
Watching the Nerd classics while waiting for cracked PC games to download at 8pm is just a weird feeling

Weird fact, I had a dream on the night of November 18, 2019, where there were Tiger handhelds, but those pooled a but better. They could (sort of) make 3D technology. Even the backgrounds changed.
One of them was Mario speedrunning through a public bathroom with an entrance, and exit. Sort of like a stupid version of Mario Kart.

Just... do that on a tiger screen (you can easily fit a bunch of moving arrows on the screen and dancing characters on the side.
The main problem would be the sound because instead of anything resembling music you'd have PC speaker grade ear sodomy.
But it could genuinely be a game!

I kinda remember a similar thing, had and still have a Buzz Lightyear game, and in a way, it was kinda the whole static light-up images, only difference was this one was in color. And, while it can get difficult at times, I remember it actually being a great game. A GREAT GAME! I don't know if this was in fact by Tiger or not, but it was awesome. At times, I never could put it down!
Edit: Looked it up, wasn't Tiger, was made 2010, and it was officially licensed.
