This kind of reckless behaviour has me absolutely enticed to take this on myself. Probably the worst job on the entire car to do the legal way. Hats off to you sir for this one! Thank you.

This man took the massive short cut we are all here hoping and looking for, and used professional language like "incision" the whole time. Savage.

This is awesome! I did it the old fashioned way but I have another Mk4 Jetta TDI and I might swap that core this method if it goes out on me. What a pain the ""proper way". Had to have AC serviced, and broke an airbag connector when removing steering wheel. Airbag dropped a teeny bit and it was all springs on the connectors. Also saves risk of messing things up and Isolates the problem to just the heater core. Nothing else. Other way you tore apart the whole car and if anything is not working afterwards, hard to Isolate the problem. More risky the other way in my opinion. This way might not work on a TDI so great, not sure. Not much room in there.

Both cars I have done were alh TDI if you want more room take off the intake manifold and EGR cooler

@@irahuber2732 I think that's what I did, except I was able to get to the heater core bolts without removing the intake manifold by going underneath the vehicle supported on wheel ramps. Might be easier to remove the intake manifold in retrospect.
Thanks for getting back to me so quickly Ira, I am now in the final stages of putting dash back together, and all the wires, steering wheel, etc. Trying to get it done by Tuesday morning!

THE FAR BEST VIDEO ON YOU TUBE ABOUT REPLACEMENT OF THE FUCKING HEATER CORES, i hate these shit heater cores, i actually though about do this on a trailblazer, still waiting for time to do that. And now my jetta may have the heater core bad. I love your video bro. I always knew this.. when you come with a genius idea and think nobody thought about that.. someone very sure thought already. And there we go. I wasn’t just sure if would be ok later. You proved it works great. I don’t care what people will say. It worked. I already painted and clear coat the car with paint roll and brush. So fuck it. Let’s do that bitch.
SHIT!!! Only 6 likes??? What the hell peoples . Bro don’t worry i know how feels not be understood. Fuck them. Please keep doing surgeries! Lol I laughed so bad

50,000 miles on one of them with no problems so far.
I'm guessing 20 to 30k miles on the other one no problem

I’m not sure I’d be impressed or I’d shit myself if I had paid a shop and got that.
This certainly is outside the box thinking

I did it for my own personal time saving and to be able to say I did it lol. It ate me alive thinking about it....
I would never do it for a client without their consent.

Guessing this vehicle is not a diesel, might be more clearance in the engine bay.

@@irahuber2732 My Car is a 2005 Mk4 BEW so to do it the VW proper method the entire dash needs to be pulled, then A/C disconnected and also I took off the intake manifold and EGR as well. For others who may be considering this project, I was able to go to Jiffy Lube and get the AC recharged for around 150$ and he said he would discharge it for free if I ever do this again. Runs good almost a year later, I might have damaged some wiring somehow when I pulled the front frame loose trying to get more room. Dome lights aren't working anymore nor is the passenger seat heater. So far I have adapted. Also be careful pulling the radio antenna wire. And I put the car up on ramps, the kind you drive up on to get under it (with jack stands as backup) when I pulled the Heater Box back to get the Heater Core in, etc... Glad it's all done now.
Probably would pull the dash again if I had to do this again, but the welding method looks promising for sure... (*Cutting out the firewall method) It's been a long time since I completed my heater core, R&R so I have forgotten some of the details and part names.
