Fun fact: true wild strawberries taste good, but there is a near identical berry called mock strawberry and it has no flavor. biggest difference is the flower color. So if you ate a wild strawberry and it was bland...probably not a real wild strawberry

I SWEAR I've heard Rhett recite, verbatim, that exact same anecdote about his farty-friend who worked in the paper mill on an earlier episode. I specifically-recall Rhett erroneously-referring to their friend's place of employment as a glue factory at which point Link corrected him. Which he did again today. Paper mills actually smell so awful, they make the entire city surrounding them reek to the point where the smell seeps into your home, clothing, hair, vehicle, etc. I lived in Appleton, Wisconsin for a brief time, and I could always tell when someone from Kaukauna was nearby in a store or restaurant because of the stench emanating from their bodies and clothing.
You can smell that horrendous smell from the Interstate when you get anywhere near Appleton/Kimberley, etc!! 🤮

We got modern strawberries from wild strawberries by selective reproduction. They where made bigger and bigger and lost their tast with time. Wild strawberries are way tastier and have a more powerful aroma than modern strawberries.

5:38 the animals that were 'targetted' by the avocado as it's dispersion method was the giant sloth which is now extinct, and I'm pretty sure that the only reason avocados didn't go extinct as well is because humans started cultivating them. So Rhett's line of 'it's poisonous to all animal' would have made sense, even if it was ultimately wrong

my aunt butters poptarts. i make a butter salad dressing- halved cherry tomatos from the garden, sprinkled with homemade farmers cheese, a small amount of wild calitas or other freah greens,
fresh herbs such as dill, parsley, basil, marjoram or oregano, etc then the dressing, mix melted butter with cracked pepper and lemon juice and toss with the cheese and tomatos. its so freaking good.
