There are some really nice beaches on the west coast of Florida. But yeah...as a Miami native I can verify that people don't come here for the sand.

Their is a superstition about taking sand and rocks from Hawaii without permission. It’s pretty neat. If bad things happening, take that Hawaiian sand back.

Sand theft is actually a huge issue as there's a finite amount and it's very valuable to construction. Some beaches have armed guards to prevent theft on large scales.
You don't want to use beach sand for construction...
But it is important to maintain the shoreline and it ensure the beaches don't erode.

@@Lea-is-sleeping The soil in PEI is iron rich. The color comes from oxidized iron. So It looks like mud but it's super soft. It's really beautiful. I used to work in PEI for 5 years. I miss it a lot!

When i was 13, i was on a trip to Australia. I tried to bring back a plastic bag I’d filled with sand from one of the beaches, but it was confiscated at customs.

I spent a lot of time at Ocean Beach, I was sure I would guess the sand correctly, and I did. Did anyone else guess correctly based on personal experience with one of those beaches? I'm weirdly impressed with myself now lol

PEI in Canada has red sand which you aren’t allowed to take however on the other side of the bridge there is some red sand so people take that instead even though it’s not as bright as the sand on the island. My sister still has a film canister full of the reddish sand we got on the other side of the bridge.

We travel all over the world and always bring sand back from each place. My favorite ever was corral beach. It has little specks of pink in it and sooooo soft. Next was a beach in Honduras

Not sure if you got a good sample of sand from Mahana Beach. It is in my neighborhood, we call it Green Sands due to the color that olivine gives it.
Btw … not only is fine upwards of $100,000 for taking sand, Hawaiians believe it is bad luck to do so.
