- SIG SAUER’s Jason St. John discusses SIG’s next generation of suppressors, the SLX and SLH line. St. John dives deep into the evolution of these revolutionary suppressors and how they have been optimized to limit the toxic gas blowback that is typical when shooting with suppressors. This dramatic advancement in technology available with the SLX and SLH series of suppressors was realized through the wholesale transition of the SIG SAUER product line to new manufacturing techniques using Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) resulting in the most innovative suppressor technology on the market today.

Thank you for this video explaining the difference between the 2 suppressor lines! IN my head, I'm using the pneumonic device, in Suppressor Line X the "X" is for "Redir-X" (redirects) gas, and in Suppressor Line H the "H" focusses on being "Hushed".
Keep these new product videos coming... I want to see a civilian MCX Spear available this year!
Same here, primarily with .308 barrels longer than 8" like they advertised for the Raptor. Would be nice to get good ballistics out of it.
They are available now, check out their website!!
@@j____prado yes! Announced today. Very pleased.
Thanks so much for this video really helped distinguish the two lines!!
Nice job on these items & keep up the great work as always 👊🏻
Outstanding understanding and explanation of this out of SIG! The “Silent Night seminar/demo” that’s conducted at times in gun stores w/a classroom/range is an outstanding opportunity to learn about suppressors/silencers completely and this video is an example of what to expect & the education to “Really Appreciate how elaborate SIG Suppressors really are!”
Cool Video 👍
Thank U for the Info 👍
I'd love to see some SLX cutaways. The blowback videos compare a DI M4 with a piston MCX. Kind of a deceptive comparison. A direct comparison on a DI gun would be nice to see.
I see what you and others mean by deceptive - but if you listened, the goal is a Suppressed gun = M4 without can. DI guns by nature will never be able to achieve that by way of DI's functional premise. Any DI gun with a can, will always emit more chamber and receiver emissions than a DI gun without - regardless of the gasblock or bolt carrier or upper receiver tweaks made.
That's why they designed a system, versus simply a high flow can (like oss) with low noise suppression, but high flow.
Building the system with a piston (like the NGSW submission), AND a can enables them to achieve the required target.
Wow , nice supresor 👍
I can see the gases really blasted on this dude's mustache
Ok, are those supressor covers gonna be available someday? I like what sig's doing lately for sure
hopefully jay at PEW Science gets one to review. Leading man on suppressor reviews even helping with the builds of new ones. Unless he reviews one, a 50,000 customer base for suppressors will be hesitant on them :/
For my 9 mm RUGER PC chassis carbine I absolutely want a SIC SLX suppressor. Then I won't have to wear a mask when shooting. SIG suppressors have told all other suppressor fabricators what is needed to make a good GAS BLOWBACK SUPPRESSOR as well as A GOOD SOUND/FLASH SUPPRESSOR. This line of SIG suppressors is revolutionary.
That mustache is a no go at this station.
Hey Sig, can we get an P320 XCompact with a 3.9" barrel/slide this year? One that's similar to the standard P320 Compact, a 15 round version of the XCarry, or like the XCompact Spectre without all the upgrades?
My SOT says these are impossible to find. When's that going to change? We're all excited about the technology but we're also excited to get our hands on them.
OSS now Huxwrx is and has been selling flow through suppressors for years. They actually developed the technology. You can pick one up right now in Ti or standard 🤟
^ was gonna say these remind me of oss
Because it's sig they're going to be more expensive than everyone else and in shorter supply. That's how sig rolls.
@@enb3810 I mean, I don't blame them. They're now basically the main arms provider for the U.S. Armed Forces. They have the handgun, rifle, and automatic rifle contracts now. Those 100,000 M7s that they're selling to the U.S. Army alone are far more important than the 2,000 people begging for restocks. Those factory are churning out M7s and that's it.
@@jordanjack4629 Important is debatable. I'm tired of companies treating citizens like afterthoughts.
Can’t wait to see DeadAir and many other competitors use this new engineering procedure
Unfortunately I went with surefire after months of waiting months for these to be available
I am very interested in getting in but what is the minimum barrel length requirement?
Waiting on a magnum version. Will you make one?
Came for the mustache comments. (But these suppressors are legit).
Where are the slx 556 c direct thread cans at?
It's hard to take in the info with that 1800s moustache on his face.
He is heading the Sig musket line of products.
He tied my girlfriend to the train tracks!
I'm still learning about all the ins and outs with suppressors. I have a nice small 300blk AR pistol that I'd love to get a suppressor for. Why is the Sig 300blk suppressor only offered in the SLH and being 8.8" long it's the longest in the line? Why no SLK version and why no shorty version?
I noticed they only offer titanium for the 300 BLK as well, no inconel… need that and shorter version
Mine is still in ATF jail and Sig introduces the new variant if these. Thanks Sig.
II love the way Sig thinks outside the box to come up with a solution. Great suppressors.
It's literally a copy of the oss helix haha.... That's as inside the box as it comes
@@maximusjoseppi5904 If it was a copy, then that would be Patent infringement. Also, Sig is using different metals in their can. I do not agree with your assessment.
@@larrybomber83 that’s fine, but it’s definitely stealing the concepts of cgs. Dmls manufacturing…..using Dmls to creat flow through and unique flow restriction patterns…
I thought that Sig Sauer makes new standards for weapon systems. Something new. Now I'm sure that this is true!
This is in regards to the Gas Blowback for the M4s DI system correct? What is the result of the SLX & SLH on Gas Piston Firearms?
They did a video a while back the new can on an mcx was less blowback than an unsuppressed m4
What suppressor cover is that on the upper on the table?
love the sig team and if you ever need a machinist let me know I’m certified but I will need some help lol
Sig, if I had the ability to buy a caliber exchange kit for my P320 I would buy two of them. STOCK THE EXCHANGE KITS PLEASE!
It's not worth it. Just buy a whole new P320.
I would love to see an SLX 9mm tri lug can
I really like Sig... I can't afford Sig but I like them.. 🙃
Nice
QD SLX that’s what I’m looking for
Info about the suppressor covers
Sweet but as far as blow back it’s gonna be tuff to beat OSS! Love the products your bringing out. Really want the gun on your left!
What would you recommend for a spear 762.39 11 inch ?
The power of the mustache. :)
What optic and suppressor is on the Sig sg 338 on 3:56
Looks like a Sig Romeo 8 for the optic, not sure about the suppressor
@@nickdevault5717 thanks, the Suppressor must be the slh
Now just get with the ATF and get rid off the stamp
All I can focus on is that stash.
Sig Sauer do you guys have any future plans for an airsoft version of the Spear?
What is that?
0:29 That's an AR15
0:31 And that's an MCX.
I can't prove this is dishonest on purpose, but a gun company holds up two pictures: one of a short stroke piston gun with the suppressor they're trying to sell, and the other of an AR15 with a "standard suppressor". I have to assume that they're either entirely unaware of the differences in the operating mechanism of two rifles they sell, unaware of the scientific method, or are intentionally staging a 'test' in their favour expecting no one to notice.
Or they're selling the Sig Spear+SLX suppressor as a package to the military? You're looking into this too hard dude
@@enb3810 sig uses that same deceptive ad for the suppressors, alone, on the commercial side. Sig engineers are either lying or incompetent.
Why not combine the suppressor and the barrel like the "Honey Badger" platform did; thus, reducing the overall weight, length and parts of the Sig Spear?
Also why show the thermal cage 10 times and never even acknowledge it?
I can't watch the video without getting lost into the mustache. 😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️😶🌫️😵💫😵💫😵😵
You can’t work at Sig unless you have a mustache like his
3:12 MAXIMIZE toxic fume blowback? ow
That Mustache is more lethal than the Sig products.
Powered by mustache.
How about the army's smuzzle ?
Sorry Wario, gonna go with CAT
Ummm nice try with the suppressor comparison video for toxic gases. I'm sure nobody will notice that the "standard suppressor" is on what appears to be a DI AR15 and the SLX suppressor is on a short stroke piston MCX.
Yeah, I noticed that. However, given that the venting through the bolt of an AR is part of it's design, they likely had to submit the suppressor packaged with an MCX in order to meet the military goals. YES, Sig should have admitted this. However the MCX is also known for being quite gassy with suppressors, so they didn't exactly cherry pick a gun that gave them an advantage. They would have to use a piston design anyway, so they used the one they make. But yes, SIg a bit of a disclaimer is in order here ** short stroke piston designs only **
Nice try? Do you even get the point of this - it's a SYSTEM.
You literally cannot get what the gov and SOCOM requested with a DI gun. (Why all the submitted NGSW designs were piston guns.) DIs basic functional premise prevents it to a large degree. Did you listen to his commentary? The goal is Can on gun = un suppressed DI M4 gas emission.
People have tried with upper tricks and valves and bolt carrier tweaks and gas blocks and sealed or vented charging handles, but you can't get away from excess gas and back pressure gas venting into the receiver - it follows the path of least resistance. High pressure wants to equalize with low pressure. The system is designed with a piston specifically because a DI gun literally vents that shit into the receiver vis a vis your face.
Di guns with cans are not all amazing - I've got several and own AAC, Gemtech, Sico, Sig, Q and Dead Air cans. It's not a knock on DI guns, mine run like tops dirty or clean, I love them. Adjustable blocks help, but there is always shit in your face to some degree. Pistons are much better.
Back pressure in piston guns is still a bitch, but a higher flowing can means less chamber venting versus chamber and gas tube venting.
A high flow can with a piston is literally the only way to truly prevent a semi/autoloader from gas in the face without specifically tuning the gun, ammo and the silencer for optimal operation together, like a system.
@@shirothehero0609 please re-read my comment again until you understand it. My comment (from 18 months ago) was specifically related to the disingenuous suppressor-specific comparison footage where they compare their suppressor on a piston gun to a “standard suppressor” on a DI gun. Not to an unsuppressed DI gun like you’re trying to make it seem. It’s cool that you have lots of neat and expensive possessions, but so does pretty much everyone in this space and it doesn’t make anyone more or less right so mentioning it is pointless. Actually now that I think of it this whole conversation is pointless since you’re so late to the party. OSS/huxwrx has changed the game on flow throw suppressor designs utilizing additive manufacturing methods since this video was released.
@@gwman90 Jesus h dude. Trying to have a conversation and since the spears are just hitting the market, though your comment was 18 months ago it's more than current of a conversation and why I made my comment. I get it seems disingenuous but when you listen to the comparison requirements, it's not. Please rewatch the video till you understand it.
No need to be a total asshole dude.
@@letsgobrandon416 short story as I've gotta give SIG a lil bit of credit here. I never jumped on the mcx bandwagon prior but have always been a "user/semi collector of military rifles/clones" I like all of them and appreciate all variations so when the spear was adopted by us military it got my attention. Plus they definitely look badass in fde. Ive got enough trigger time behind many of comparable 556 rifles suppressed with surefire rc2 and imo, the spear LT isn't that bad on gas. In fact, id be willing to say it does very well considering there's no supressor setting on gas valve. With that said, all of my suppressed shooting has been with 1 supressor, the rc2. Obviously different suppressors will have different results. I have the 11.5 and the 16" spear lt both in 556. In their factory configuration, the lt obviously does better when compared to di guns like mk18 or 11.5 urgi as it's a piston driven but when compared to another piston gun such as a PWS mk111 mod2M, my personal fav for suppression, it doesnt shine as bright. Don't gete wrong tho, the SIG isn't bad At all. It actually surprised me how well it did compared to the PWS which has 3 gas settings. 1-Adverse, 2-normal, and 3-supressed. I find the PWS to be one of the most underrated yet best supressor hosts on the market currently when referring to 556 rifles and the SIG lt has comparable performance when suppressed. And SIG does it without a supressor setting. The downside tho is that it does seem to spit tons of gas/carbon out at the piston but very little seems to be making it back to me. Im not saying it's perfect but have to give credit where it's do. I damn sure can't wait to get my hands on their slx can to see how it does with a low back pressure can.
Next generation? OSS has been doing this for years dude.
OSS does not make DMLS silencers.
@@Theman3806 wait....... so you think because they press print on a machine that makes them unique? haha....
the manufacturing process doesnt make the product different, its the same exact thing. they simply made their own version of an OSS flow through can just different enough so they dont get sued.
@@maximusjoseppi5904 CGS also uses DMLS to produce some of their silencers too.
It produces an overall stronger product.
The Flow-Through concept isn't new. OSS pioneered that however it seems like SIG has perfected it here with this SLX design. I'll wait for independent reviews to see if that actually holds true.
I'm not discounting what OSS has done but that doesn't mean someone else isn't capable of doing it better. This is just SIG's response to the Army's request for low toxic fumes and particulate matter to the shooter. I'm personally more interested in the SLH lineup but the SLX is on my radar if it ends up performing well.
It's easier to tune a host to reduce most if not all gas coming back to the shooter's face. Most people buy a flow through can because they don't want to bother tuning their host.
@@Theman3806 OSS didn't pioneer anything, they just marketed a "flow through" design to people that didn't know that the "flow through" technology had already existed for over a century. Flow through silencers with helical elements and multi layered construction have existed and been patented since 1909, 1910, 1919, 1927, etc.
@@joshuaparker9316 Great info. Thanks Paco!

Sig Sauer comes from Europe. However, today, when you buy SigSauer in Europe, you have no rights. The Americans do not send the HOLSTER TO MY GUN Sig LEGION to Poland !!! I'm not talking anymore about registering the pistol in the SigSauer database. In general, EUROPEANS - do not buy this weapon because the manufacturer disregards you, not like it was when Sig was German.
Everyone is making comments about his mustache. I bet that thing has as many confirmed kills as aids.
Why do you show a direct impingement AR action to show standard gas flow then switch to a piston MCX with the suppressor on it? This is really misleading.
