    I noticed you removed the cross member brace ..was this for clearance for removal of oil pan? Or will it clear without removal or anything and or jacking engine up? I know you are working on multiple issues in this video
    Thank you

    • @im234life
      @im234life  Před 4 lety +2

      Yeah honestly I think I had to remove for better access. But l also installed a new manga y-pipe so it had to be removed anyways. If I remember correctly I think you can remove the oil pan without removing the cross member . I just know on a 4x2 model you don't have to lift the engine. If it does being in your way... its only 4 bolts and comes out pretty easy

    Do you have to do timing chain. when you change the oil pump.I had low pressure with a leak and it was making a grinding sound.on my 99 dodge truck.thanks and very good work

    • @im234life
      @im234life  Před 6 lety

      soda pop Jones , hi ! Yes unfortunately you do on the 4.7 motors. Low oil pressure is not always good though. Other factors can be clogged pick up screen . i had at least a cup of sludge at the bottom of my oil pan. Oil gets trap there cuase it dosent drain all when doing oil change. I was having low oil pressure problem too, but was due too the rpms was at 500. Changed; oil pump, Oil pressure, tps , map , iac sensors no luck. Changed o2 sensors no luck. It was the injectors lol. But you sound like have a different problem. If you here those sounds then might be an oil issue... If haven't taking apart check oil pressure with a mechanical gauge right where the oil pressure sending unit is and see what readings you get. If low or none , oil pump or pick-up tube is clogged. Got good oil pressure, then it might be a mechanical issues. As for the timing chain you're asking about, the oil pump sits directly behind the crankshaft timing sprocket, so it has to be removed, make sure you set your #1 at TDC. Good luck

    Im in the process of changing my oil pan,becuz i strip the drain plug screw. do you recommend replacing the wonder tray also or any other parts too?

    • @im234life
      @im234life  Před 6 lety +1

      Sokthea Seng , well they are reusable. You can use the same one but there are things to look for in order to reuse. 1st you have to take off the windage pan without harming the mating surface, like tear in gasket or bending it to much. Both with cuase leaking problems. 2nd consider the age of the old one thats on now. You'll have to look for cracks and "hard" spots. Its not a bad idea to replace anyways. If you can wait, get it online and it'll be cheaper. Other then that only other thing you can do is clean the pick-up tube/screen. Hooe this helps 😀

    At 2:04 the cover that needs to be removed to loosen the final two bolts what is the torque spec for those, please let me know i need to change my gasket very soon

    • @im234life
      @im234life  Před 6 lety

      SIERRA 02 its called oil pan-to-transmission brace and its an optional part that not all 4.7 have. Ive search online and looked over my haynes repair manual and did not fine anything about torque specs. Weird i know. But you can use a torque bar when removing it. Set it to 50 lbs. of torque, and it clicks before breaking lose then set it higher. But Im sure its gotta be more then 50 lbs. of torque. Kinda like reverse engineering as far as finding out what torque to set them bolts.

    • @im234life
      @im234life  Před 6 lety

      SIERRA 02 that'll be a good idea. Short trips close to home ain't so bad but a road trip will not be good if you lose too much oil. Good luck buddy!

    Hey did u put silicone before the tray also or was it just on the oil pan?

    • @im234life
      @im234life  Před 6 lety +1

      I put a thin layer in the grooves on both sides. Do not over do it because you don't want to much excess going towards the inside of oil bay. Don't worry about applying on block or pan. But you'll be ok without silicon too. Just don't over torque it either. And follow tightening sequence start from The Middle & work your way out alternating sides.

      No for the 4x4 undo the brackets for front diff, there are 3 and then drop the rack and pinion, only 2 bolts and then you can clear the oil pan from there. Super easy and doesn’t require all that shit the manual says to do .
