BMW has lost someone in their design department or something, because their designs lately have been hideous!
I agree. Unfortunately people will still buy these cars.
It started when they replaced iDrive7 with iDrive8
@@Blank00 yeah. Who in there right mind thinks removing buttons for a giant screen is a good idea
i agree with it 100%
As a current Lancer owner, I would love to see the Lancer come back, even as a hybrid or wagon, but I'm not getting my hopes up...
*cough**cough* Eclipse Cross *cough*
I have yet to see a new Z in the wild… and I live in a decent sized city.
They had a stop sale that lasted awhile, but they just seem kinda pointless
I live just outside Chicago and seen only 1 so far.
…..even in car crazy L.A. they’re VERY rare!! 🤷🏼♂️
Overpriced old tech, only an open diff Sport is an ok price. Not that it matters, since they’re hardly building any.
Yep, never seen one with my eyes.
Let’s all give a round of applause to Cosworth for creating 3 all time great engines within the last 5 years. Valkyrie, T.50 and Tourbillon
Tourbillon is insane, absolutely stunning engineering. So gorgeous!
Leave it to the French! :-)
lol I like Matt’s reaction to the Nissan Z heritage edition.
You can buy the kit from Nissan in Japan. It'll cost about 3500+ then shipping, install and paint.
You can buy the kist in Japan for 4,000+. Then you need to ship it paint it and install it. It'll be cheaper just buying the car if you're in North America.
Wranglers keep the 392, Challengers go for hike, and Chargers get 6-cylinders (or none at all). A bit of a backward situation here
Regulations make it way easier to keep a V8 in a truck/SUV than a passenger car. A V8 6MT 2024 Mustang GT gets hit with a gas guzzler tax. A truck getting the same mpg does not. It’s messed up.
I think there is a significantly smaller market for people wanting a $100,000 392 Wrangler vs next Gen Charger 392. This will allow them to continue making a handful and balance average per unit CAFE requirements vs selling 50,000+ 2025 392 Chargers next year and just become flooded with fines or having to buy a bunch of credits from Tesla as they have been doing.
Tony Roma, the rib restaurant guy? 😆
Wunderbar! Another Episode of the Matt Maran Friday Night Car News Show - with a lot of new topics again. Wishing everybody here a great day and a fantastic weekend ahead. Enjoy the News and your leisure time!
Matt talking about the Z is the laugh I needed today.😂🍻
Cheers. Always love your opinions on the automotive world. I’m sad about the Volvo S60 also.
Hello everyone,
Remember the 2021 Durango SRT Hellcat? It was originally advertised as a single-year model capped at 3,000 examples. It made a sudden return for 2023, prompting some owners to get together and sue the company. 🤔
Like how Audi doesn’t try to make the etron look “futuristic” aka a trash can or a polygon on wheels
Gotta hand it to Mitsubishi!! They are doing everything they can to make sure enthusiasts never by their cars :D
Considering selling all those exciting cars bankrupted almost can you blame them? Also keep in mind sedans don’t sell well, coupes sell worse . Crossovers which are basically hatch backs.
Look up the story of the Fj Cruiser customers said they wanted didn’t buy them. Camaro came back lasted 2 generations then dead.
BMW is cheaping out HARD lately. The dashboard on the passenger side being one single injection-molded piece belongs in a 15k car, not a 55k one! They gotta make the shareholders happy and have nothing but the utmost disrespect for their customers.
#keepthev8
Thanks for filling our brains 🧠 with automotive news 📰 on Friday once again Matt.
After 7 years away from sales, I recently accepted a sales consultant position at a local Ram 🐏 Dodge, Jeep and Chrysler dealership. So that 392 Wrangler news is pretty cool 😎 and relevant to me. A 392 Gladiator would be bad to bone 🦴. 💪🏻😃
Congrats on the new job, best of luck!
@@MattMaranMotoring thank you 🙏 very much. I need all of the luck 🍀 I can get. Thankfully your videos help me keep up to date on all kinds of vehicles 🚗
Orange stitching on the Heritage Z was such a no brainer. I doubt we'll see these on the road anyways but those Watanabe tribute wheels need to see the light of day.
Love the outside of the Z. But there upcharged and the sentra interior is garbage. I got a mustang GT premium for 47k
Just configured a BMW X3 here in Europe (Austria) and it's 118k euros, or 126,000 dollars. Wow BMW really hates us. The dashboard is covered in Polyester plastic fabric btw, luxury brand btw.
I think BMW needs to let every one of their designers go and start fresh. What happened to BMW? 🤷♂️
I think it’s sad that my favorite current BMW inside and out is the Z4, largely unchanged since 2019. They’re regressing, chasing bad aesthetics, higher horsepower, and higher weight.
The problem is that sales have increased since they started with the ugly designs, so it seems that the masses like the way the look I guess 🤷♂️
That top trim Etron looks awesome!
"We will sell $92,000 jeeps". A bold strategy let's see how it works out for them, lol 🤣
392’s don’t just sit around on dealer lots lol
Man that X3 is HIDEOUS. There's literally nothing wrong with the criss-cross grill I don't get it. Wow it took them THIS LONG to gove the full-blown M grill to the M Sport model.🤣
Stellantis finally have some carbon credit offsets to continue the V8 Jeep. The Bugatti unobtanium looks great. Also, Solid State Batteries are already here. It takes time to validate them on platforms and scale production, but they are finally being produced.
I like the regular Z better, I don’t really care for that front end. Especially not for six grand more!😂
Matt, I love your content and I’ve been a follower since your early days of the WRX show but please do something about the contrast of your videos in this new set up because you look way over contrasted and almost orange and white at times it’s an easy fix and may help your viewership
New BMW x3: Exterior looks ok. Interior… will take getting used to.
The 300ZXTT was about $100k in today's money, this Z is the best so far if we put our nostalgia bias away. The price per performance is great for the only real Japanese grand touring coupe.
It's the performance and track versions which needs a lot of work though, they really need to do something more about the squishy handling at the limits, SPL Parts has the perfect rear subframe solutions for a couple hundred dollars extra (inserts for the performance, full aluminum with rubber disk isolators for the Nismo). Nismo actually commissioned them in the past for making their hardcore race parts, they should do it again for this new Nismo version along with an h-shift transmission option, call it the Nür Spec or something.
They do need more special editions though, it's kind of how the Big 3 sell so many pickups. Also having more advertising (like the old 300ZX commercials!) and race support, and maybe even a Z spec series with h-shift like the IMSA Mustang spec series would be awesome and would go a long way to sell these cars.
A ton of ton people got giddy over hearing you talk about that Tourbillon and those specs (especially in today's strict emission world), yet you probably would hear crickets over some manufacturer proclaiming "our new EV model goes 0-60 on 1.2 seconds for a fraction of the price".
Because ev’s are just roller coasters. You get that acceleration and nothing else. You don’t have any emotion
I’m curious if they are dropping the pentastar v6 and make everything a 4xe
"I back. Trust me, I back." - Anderson Silva and the Jeep V8 apparently.
11:18 min - good point Matt. 💡
Wow, what a lot of major news stories in the automotive industry this week! As a former owner of a 2010 Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart, I'm especially excited for the possible return of the Mitsubishi Lancer -- and perhaps the Evo! 7:46
love the style matt, very relaxed and relatable commentary!
I’d buy the Smart #5 or Fiat Panda in a heartbeat!! ….not all Americans want huge, hulking SUVs !!
I’d love to get a new 500e if they had priced it correctly.
The Smart #5 is only small in America. In Europe cars like the Golf are dying because they are replaced by larger SUVs
In the US it's fairly cheap.
Great video!
I’m actually impressed the Fiat Panda is a handsome little thing! It would completely halt the sales of the rest of the renegades so they might be wanting to get those of the lots sadly at least in my mind lol Another awesome video !
Hate to see all of the discontinued cars go before I could buy one even a single one of them 😔
Huzzah, an epic Friday news vid!
It's impressive that Audi EV still has the traditional style gauge cluster, not the living room flatscreen TV.
Could we see a redesigned Sentra be in tandem with he return of the Lancet?
Nissan will pull a frontire/Z and do a reskin
It would be nice for Mitsubishi come back from the dead! Maybe they’re finally tired of seeing all the other brands rolling out fun cars when they don’t have even one.
These car news videos are great! Thanks.
Wow a stellantis V8, as a person who hates money, I can't wait to see how much time I am going to be spending at the dealer to get it fixed!!!
You think Lancer would be an appropriate name for ANY Leaf? Last I checked, Lancer was a sedan, not a slow electric amorphous pigback (fat amorphous hatchback).
If they get that Panda competitively priced, it could do decent in the states. Looks good for what it is.....def bring the hybrid to U.S....offering EV only will be DOA, but bring both versions and the boost in sales from the hybrid will bring some more people to the EV.
Alll I’m saying is never count Nissan out for building another gas powered gtr mark my words here. Nissan won’t tell you it’s in production because they want you to bug the special models then they’ll make another one with a gas engine I’m hoping with an in-line 6 but my guess is would be with same engine.
My guess is 2400 world wide for the Z heritage, but will be sold over the course of a fee model years. 😅
18:18 That "Smart car" is nothing like any previous Smart car. It's big, heavy and expensive. These EV power numbers don't wow anyone.
tony roma is great! corvettes in good hands
*knowing Mitsubishi, they will release a Lancer EVO CUV, yes Mitsubishi we remember your disappointing remake of the Eclipse CUV*
Companies are gonna bring back analog gauges as a high end upgrade...like a Swiss watch...Bug are just the first to the party.
Thanks for the update, Matt! Lots of exciting news this week. The 392 and the new Bugatti is enough for my day. Also, RIP to the JDM legend, the GT-R. Do you know if the 392 Jeep is for USA only?
It sounds like they’re doing another 3,700 with only 300 of those going to Canada and 100 to other markets.
I’ve seem those 392 Jeeps here in Canada for $120,000….nobody is spending that kind of money on a Wrangler around here.
And we can all assume that Jacob and Co will release a Bugatti Tourbillion Tourbillion right?😂
this week i saw a fisker ocean with temporary plates and mismatched wheels 😭
Yikes lol
18:18 min - 😄👍🏾
Well well well Matt looks like I was partially right huh? Taveras make the most questionable decisions 😂😂
have a great weekend as usual Matt btw having anything fun planned/doing anything fun for this weekend?
Thanks! You too! Not too much planned this weekend, I need to relax after this extra busy week I had.
@@MattMaranMotoring i have a feeling that the Bugatti Tourbillon reveal might be 1 of the coolest car reveals in quite some time/so far this year/2024/in a long time by a long shot/
Hey Matt you might want to check but those hurricane straight sixers are blowing up all over the place I'm talking literally thousands of motors
Thousands? Got a link to a story? I’m not finding anything. 10 owners having a bad time on a Dodge forum is not evidence of mass failure.
I agree re FIAT.
Mitsubishi recycling great model names into lackluster offerings is pretty on brand. I hope I am wrong but I wouldn't be surprised. They could probably do really well if they bring over an offroader they offer in other markets.
FI-OOOAT!!
I'd buy a v8 just for the sound. I will never buy that hurricane or ev motor.
Very interested in what happens with the Lancer name
GO HOKIES!
Car companies are starting to learn people don't want electric cars. Latest survey showed over 40% of people who own electric cars want to go back to ice. That trend is growing.
Delusional and false. In no universe are 40% of EV owners wanting to go back to ICE. The vast majority are thoroughly satisfied and won’t touch the pitfalls of ICE again.
Have a link to support that number? Everything I’ve seen shows 40-50% of buyers are considering an EV for their next car.
👍
Jeep is only bringing back the Wrangler 392 because it still has old ones in stock.
I know for fact that Carlos Tavares doesn't want V8s to come back.
Carlos T wants Jeep to make as much profit as possible. The 392 wrangler generates substantially more profit than selling base models, with no added R&D costs since all the tooling and design has been done.
Carlos was elected for one reason, to keep the company as profitable as possible. I'm sure his performance bonus would happily welcome all hemi engines with open arms. The engines were the cheapest in the company to produce when I was working there. They had their own following with minimal marketing needed. Carlos has come out many times against EVs as they do not make much financial sense to make at the moment
With all the styling and grille controversy surrounding BMW in the last 4 years, the WORST offender is the GLOWING grille rim, in my book. I can understand that there's different styling tastes, but glowing parts is where I draw the line.
I don’t think it has anything to do with emissions, that’s what they use as an excuse! They despise of American muscle. That’s why they want to destroy Chrysler Dodge.
👍
What????
Lmao
It is revenge for the French cars failing in the U.S. and they are also mad these vehicles are much more expensive in their country as well as the more expensive gas.
Copium. Stellantis had to kill the V8s. The amount of carbon credits they had to buy to offset the fuel economy was killing the American branch. The fact that they get a continued V8 is because of the electric Charger and the Hornet Hybrid offsetting the costs.
Great news V8 Wrangler will live on.
Bad News V8 Wrangler will be $80k and up.
No thanks.
Replacing the boxster and cayman with an ev! That’s a sad day for the automotive world.
I would 100% have a slower v8 than a i6
"Final Edition"...? 😂😂 Marketing people are clueless
🙂👍
They think Jeep fans cared more than the challenger/charger/durango people? Yea…right…
With all of the wagoneers having to be bought back jeep needed a cash cow. Jeep pr any fiat brand pretending to care about what buyers want is offensive. The v8 were going away because the head of stellantis said no more credits can be bought, as said by now former dodge CEO. It had nothing to do with cafe or emissions. The new turbo 6 really doesn't help either of those scores anyway
The EV retreat is real.
It’s the same engine that is in the Gordon Murray hypercar
It is?
That’s a V12.
A hundred thou jeep 😂😂
Jeep is in trouble. European executives 😂
You're going to see less EVs and more hybrids. Toyota called it. EVs are perfect for the Goldie locks regions of the earth. Therefore regular hybrids are the best until ev tech is and infrastructure is in reality on par with gas engines.
How would EV tech and infrastructure continue to develop if people quit supporting it?
Japan has the same issues as Canada and other northern countries. Also very hot countries. The Japanese people do not like EV as they are made for the rich who can have 2+cars. And it's not suitable or reliable enough in their inclement weather. Toyota and the others listen and push hybrids not EV. Toyota is hearing the same in northern America.
@@MattMaranMotoringthey're supporting it but they want to push hybrid first because it's two birds one stone with hybrids.
This upcoming BMW X3 look AWFUL. Unbelievable.
Wtf is wrong with BMW. I don't understand how they can't recover their designs after all these years.
Wether it's Lamborghini or Bugatti these new crazy supercars are amazing. Electric motors have no personality so they use them to give marvellous naturally aspirated engines the edge over turbos which would've otherwise changed the characteristics of the engine definingly.
Wow BMWs get uglier and uglier holy crap. That thing makes a Chevy Equinox look sexy. Even the X3 from 10 years ago was way better
I’m so ready for Trump to come back and get rid of the non sens restrictions. My hobby is dying and it’s so sad cuz I have no other vices
???
Huh? Guess you can see the future 😅
@@Barbwire710 I’m hoping
In another 4 they’d just change again. Stoopid
jeep is crap
Please keep politics out of reviews
I usually do, but unfortunately the emissions stuff brings politics in occasionally.
