12:29 Rule of thumb - any retaining wall taller than 4’ should have a drainage/weep system. You’re going to have a lot of hydrostatic pressure behind that wall with no in-ground drainage system to relieve that pressure. The wall will last, that’s not the issue but it will settle and become wobbly over time.
🤔🤔🤔would putting thick barbed wire in-between the blocks sustain the wall? So, once it's settled it shouldn't move / tumble over the years
That and I’m pretty sure they didn’t pack the inside of the blocks with sand as they went
Agree you need weep holes for a wall of that hight
Exactly, not sure what videos or information he got, but it was wrong and not how to build it properly. I mean he was right if it falls down he said he would build another one. It will happen when its that tall for sure. Hope they read the comments and fix it now before its too late.
Too bad they don't read comments as often as they should. Their community reaction is kind of sub par.
We need an update video. What's going on with the R8, pops dually Ram, and what vehicles are you selling this year?
Pops work ethic is second to none he’s like yup I’m tired but we still got stuff to do man’s a working machine god bless him
A quick tip when putting power and gas line unground is to put a piece of yellow or red caution tape about 6 inches from the surface when back filling so when you dig near the lines in the future it acts as a warning before you hit the lines. Hope that helps! Love y’all’s videos! Keep up the great work!
We call it “cut me tape”
It's a requirement where I am, and it has to be mettalic so it can be located.
Drainage and push are the biggest destructive issues with retaining walls. Use geomesh between the layers of retaining walls (about halfway).
That's great advice. Everyone underestimates the pressure
100%
Here in Europe we use concrete and small steel sticks in there to build it strong. It cant move anywhere. I dont get it that you dont do that in US
They are clueless and won't listen.
@@snappingbear there are going to be so many issues with this house
No clickbait there then, guys!
Thank god, I was concerned I was going to miss my sauce advertisement
, I’m glad you snuck it in between that sketchy retaining wall build and trench digging.
13:14 is when the video of the car starts.
I can’t enough of the content, I love it. Thanks guys. Happy New Years!!
@@Eleazar527 When are you scammers going to get a life? Ya'll are the scum of the earth and there's a special place in hell for all of you unless you change your ways.
That wall should have grid every 3 courses that extends back into the soil behind it and each layer of grid extended further back into the soil than the previous section
You are correct
YUP... always need to use geo grid mesh
You do What you can When you can. We'll watch.Thank you all for the hard work you've put into your videos.*I wish you a great New Year filled with happiness, and always safe, healthy days for all.*
We are happy to be here for the house, the cars...whatever you got going on! Keep up the hard work!! :)
You guys should of backfilling the wall as you went up and also using some rebar if you are going to go that high. You should of placed some corrugated pipe wrap in marafi paper and collect the water through the stone and route the water to your tanks. This will help with the wall collapsing.
I was thinking maybe some pvc through the dirt then through the wall to channel some of the water out to relieve some of the weight. Good to see how far the house has come! Also nice to see the entire process, you never think about the little details like this that can drive you crzy loll. Much love y'all boys
They have gravel to the bottom and water can leach between the blocks as they are just stacked, should b ok
Use pvc rebar on wall to. Tie in the layers and make it stronger
You should have put a 4" perforated pipe along the bottom interior side of your retaining wall and put some filter fabric between your crushed stone and compacted soil backfill.
Just remember when you have kids you might wanna pull a little fence there are sometimes they don’t fall off the edge but it looks really good
Happy New Year, guys. love the channel
You boys could have installed 2 or 3 drains exiting that wall towards the bottom to allow the water to escape from the gravel behind the wall. Also should have used the special glue/caulk to really lock those retaining blocks down. But it does look good for now!!
No worry’s man, we appreciate the house build too !!! Just keep doing you and providing us with something
I believe any wall over 30 inches has to have a fence or railing and that is a international code .
You boys should have separate videos for the house 🏡 most of us came for the build.
They don't really work on cars to much anymore they've let the money go to their head. I really don't care to much about the house.
Kinda thought the same. 13 min house, 3 mins car - but Sundays have always been crap for a long time now. They should make 2 uploads a week instead of theree, because as i said the content is mostely crap Sundays anyway
That retaining wall looks nice! Building them is back-breaking. One suggestion: if it starts to fall in the future, go with bigger blocks that use a pin system to lock them into place. The blocks you currently are using have a small lip in the back that retains them. The blocks you are using now are usually for shorter walls. Another thing that is recommended is to fill the blocks with gravel as you back fill.
I like the see how we have grown videos, house cars and hanging with cletus I love all the uploads. Good work guys you deserve all the success
I LOVE IT WHEN THEY WORK WITH THERE FATHER ITS AMAZING.
any retaining wall over 4ft high needs to be drawn up by a engineer and then inspected for proper geo-grid installation, drainage etc...
I would suggest a 2 teir wall , second wall 3-4' behind lower wall. Then now you created a nice planting bed for mulch seasonal flowers, decreative lighting etc..

You guys should make a compilation video for each build from start to finish
Dang son! That would be epicc!
Ever checked out their playlists?
www.youtube.com/@goonzquad/playlists
That would require them to go through 2 years of footage for each car
I meant 1 build in 1-2 videos per build.
@@Binford81 Haha it takes so long for each build and also they do it more fluid. Jump back and forth between projects cause getting parts at good quality, nice price and also not delivered slow:)
It wont happend. Small fixing of cars can do that😅 This car will take 3-5 months before they get all parts. You have to start to know exactly what you need!
Your contractor brother has to be the slowest home builder I've ever seen. That house should have been done months ago!
I enjoy the combination of house work and car work and I always enjoy seeing the family! Thanks!
Loving the house updates!! THANK YOU!!!
Im so excited to see it end and ur home too thanks and happy new year ❤️
Dang son!!!!!! I just love watching y'alls videos....I just hate it's not long enough tho, lol....Y'all two are the best....Happy New Year to you both
Hard work builds character and your family is plumb full of hard workers! Retaining wall turned out awesome. Doing that alone would be hard but then you also dug trenches, moved appliances and worked on the Urus too! Happy New Year. Very excited to see your house get ready to move in.
I say go super aggressive! The things ppl have done to those suvs..I say create a monster! Aggressive front and rear bumper..widebody and monster wheels and tire!
The fact that you guys even took on that Urus project is amazing
Wouldn't you do anything for love? That has wifey all over it
Wishing the Goonzquad family a Happy New Year. I look forward to some more great content in 2023
Got a feeling they will have to go back and fix most work they have done on that house… as they usually do.
This wasn't a Urus rebuild video, it was a lesson on how not to build a retaining wall with around five minutes of Urus B roll.
Part 6 and they’ve done nothing really
ok calm down
@@gohara5 gonna be another 40 part series
Another boring video
😂😂😂
Happy new year Goonzuad and your families' father & mother. Jerome & family faraway
Thanks again
Thanks for the awesome update on the house and the urus ,happy new year,2023 🆕🎊🎉
happy New Year. for all your family and friends. stay safe in 2023.
So what about damp proofing the house wall where your new wall meets the house and the dirt/ soil / gravel and sand you placed against the house wall, won’t that bridge your damp course leading to damp patches on your new house’ internal walls? As others have mentioned pouring cement down the blocks holes with some rebar would help reinforce the retaining wall, but once it’s dry cut some 1 inch weep holes through the wall base every linear foot avoiding the rebar it will help the water drain keep the holes low to avoid wall staining from the water.
I wish I had 1% of the motivation and get up and go as these guys!
Money is the best motivator...
If you were making the kind of money they are making off of youtube and selling merch you would be motivated also !
The F450 always carrying the heavy stuff
The house is looking good! Keep it going guys. HPNY!!!! #2023
Y’all did a good job easy to make a retaining wall especially making it level like you guys did. Great job guys.
Happy New Years boys and family❤🎉
Nice work , only suggestions I could make would be to install a water barrier / dampcourse against the bricks of the house to prevent rising damp to your basement and fill the cores of those retaining blocks with gravel to help them hold position
Idk if this is just me but I love watching you guys build retaining walls 🤣 another awesome video up on the mountain
The detailing on the first house was nice too. The painting and facade.
Should have been titled "working on the house and 2 minutes of the urus build"
Lmao I thought I was the only one thinking that 💀
Smh pointless video we don’t care about there house being built smh
This video sucks. Quit it with the McMansion
I’m so happy I’m not alone
I've been thinking about that for awhile now... should stop catfishing us
stabilizer t's on that wall would be a good idea. Although it isn't super tall, the T's will make it much stronger so there is no worry of it moving. The T's are just extensions that fit between vertical block seams and reach back into the soil. Think of them as anchors.
Just here for all the Bob the builder comments. Looks good guys. Hell if it falls you won’t be to proud to show us as you fix your mistakes. Keep grinding boys

A NEW BUID, AND A NEW YEAR! WHAT A WAY TO START THE NEW YEAR -2023😀
They are getting better - but still some simple things that will ensure the longevity of the wall and your house.
Ag pipe and geotexture and
it wouldn't have hurt to black seal (waterproof) the front house elevation that will be under all that soil
Happy NYE boys! You will need to double check your local codes but typically you can build up to a 36inch wall without needing a permit & engineer sign off. Anything over 36inches you need a engineer to draw it up, add geo fabric for lateral strength, drainage pipe behind the first course.
NYE? It's Jan 1st
4 feet here. No code outside the city limits.
You guys are becoming experts at just about everything. I love that you just dive in and learn as you go. Happy new year to your whole family.
Experts? BWAHAHAHA 🤣😂🤣😂
Need to put pieces of cut pvc pipe in the wall for drainage! Especially if you are going higher in height.
Love seeing the house builds & just seeing you guys doing life in general . Would be boring if it was just about car building . Don’t worry about the wingers just keep doing what your doing !!
Y’all are doing great but you need to put GEOGRID every 3-4 rows high of blocks!!
You need to fill the retaining wall blocks with gravel! Those things will topple since there hollow.
Happy new year gus and your family love channel great job keep on going ✌.
4 years running, from the days of theBlue Jeep till today. I love your content. All the way from Tembisa South Africa 🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦🇿🇦
Regardless of the content. Happy New Year can't wait to see what this year has for the goonzquad channel.
You need to put some sticks of rebar in that little wall…!!
Happy New Year 2023 can wait to see what this year will bring in to the garage!! Good to see you guys are going at the URUS I know she can wait to be roaring around again, enjoy your day until the next video.
You guys should consider filling in the centers of the blocks for the wall and applying construction/landscape adhesive to the remaining 3-4 rows. It’ll tighten everything up and help keep it from pushing out over time.
No concrete inside the blocks from the retaining wall? That's more like a delimitation wall.
Yep! Exactly!
Not an expert by any means, but aren’t you suppose to put any sort of posts inside of a larger retaining wall?
The wall needs rebar drove in the ground inside of block and concreted or it will never stay up
@@mikluvin4633 if the blocks are heavy and wide enough, you can build it without rebar and concrete. But these blocks are simply too thin for properly hold up over time.
Yeah the first row should have had concrete but looks like they Burried them personally I'd of cement the first row and the second but after that you can build them up and have no issue without cement but deffo first and second row.
16 minute videos labeled Urus Part 6 and 13 minutes is about the damn house. I thought a second channel was started for that stuff. Really starting to wander if I need to stay subscribed.
@Eleazar205dude. Let me start by saying y’all were the first channel about rebuilds I sub’d to. I went back and watched all ur old vids. Great stuff! But the older vids had real content. Minutes of just building the cars. I kno the house is exciting for y’all. It would be for me. But that’s not what made ur channel. This dm is not for anything. I just want to see great content again. Hope 2023 brings great things to ur families!!
Gotta love seeing the good ole f450 in a goonzquad video. God bless from Rochester NY
Hey guys and gals of the Goonzquad empire: Happy New Year!! Keep on going, hope you can move in that beautiful place soon and build the family.
Those blocks have holes in them to reinforce the wall with bars or concrete it's no good expecting them to stay in place under there own weight with no interlocking system.
I love it how it is
Sometimes cars and sometimes houses things
Keep it up
And do what you wanna do 👌🏽❤️
Happy new year 🥳
I actually hate it. I want it all cars not houses

we love your videos but tbh we all come here for the urus
Little more of the urus build from the title of the vid would have been nice
Man, I love seeing the house build and then seeing the car build afterward.
I love watching the house being build keep up the Hard work😁
You guys should have made a stairway through the retaining wall especially if it’s going to be that tall
I'm sure they would have loved to but they are on a time crunch. Can be added down the road.
You mean make a plane? Nope not with these guys its fly by your ass train wreck 24/7.

Happy new Year y'all
Another great video. I've come the conclusion thet there is nothing you guys can't do! Blessings for a safe, happy and prosperous New Year!
Put a layer of gravel on top of that dirt to have most of the rainwater drain out over the top of the dirt as well. Then you can add some more dirt for the grass to grow in, on top of the gravel.
Also, it would have been a smart thing to have put a drainage pipe inside and at the bottom of the wall to drain out all the water that might gather there.
Keep digging boyz just think insurance Co. Would have totaled that baby and scrapped it your giving her a second life take your time you will figure it out Lamborghinigoonz lol you guyz are rock stars happy new year guys I hope you were good to your wives and took them out to party 🥳 🎉 😊
@@Eleazar914 don't know how boss ?
Are you guys going to have garage doors?
Happy New Years guys! Get that house done brudda!
nice wall but as others wrote, you need a drainage system :) a perforated pipe along the bottom of the wall that gets the water out out a hole in the wall.

HI GOONZQUAD GREAT VIDEO ON DOING THE RETAINING WALL AND WORKING ON THE LAMBO. HAPPY NEW YEAR. Y'ALL TAKE CARE.
I enjoy the house as well as the cars. Keep up the good work, and Happy New Year!
Don't you have to put Cement on the blocks to hold them together? I would think so. But then again, I'm not a builder.
I was thinking the same . A steel bar and cement
Not really. The blocks have a lip at the bottom of the backside that prevents it from moving forward. You can see how with each course the blocks angle back toward the dirt they are holding back. If I were them I wouldn't go as high as they are talking or I would step it down gradually to slope away from the house.
Filling gravel in the holes work just fine
Construction adhesive not cement.
no construction adhesive on the lower layers?
Happy new years boys to you and family.💯👍2023 Let's goooo.

I agree, although I think they’re stalling on the URUS. I don’t think they know how to approach this one given the damage to the A-pillar and the fact that the A-pillar is a hot stamped part and cannot be repaired/welded like a conventional cold stamped steel part. They were just going to replace the aluminum body side outer stamping, but they missed the damaged A-pillar when they decided to take on this project, and unfortunately for them, the only solution is to replace the A-pillar and possibly the body side inner and b-pillar because these parts were probably formed together in a tailor welded configuration of boron steel in a hot stamping press and then quenched to a martensitic metallurgical phase much stronger than any weld rod
@@jvaubry it as been like that for months , not just on Urus build....kind of sad i think...
Just my opinion, but i think would be better if you guys could separate the construction videos from the rebuild ones. Keep up the good work!😎
Good job on the retaining wall !! Laid out nicely. As a structural engineer whos design many retaining walls i just have a few concerns,
1) the gravel behind the wall is doing nothing in terms of drainage without a land flow drainage pipe with a fall, leading to a discharge point lower than the retaining wall. These pipes are embedded in the gravel at the base of the wall and have perforated walls to allow water to seep in
2) Note that the wall is consistently loaded as its trying to confine the soil and not letting it batter to a natural slope. Currently the wall is only using the friction between blocks to resist lateral pressure from the soil. This is not a reliable source of strength.
3) A block wall retaining wall would typically require a concrete strip footing with starter bars running up at certain crs depending on height and other soil parameters. The blocks would then be placed so the starter bars run through them.
4) fill the blocks with concrete.
Hope this helps.
Nice job boys love the channel, happy new year 🎉
