- I had someone ask what is the best combine to start with after I did the planter vs drill video. This one is a tricky question but I give it a run. I break down what kind of budget I'd initially shoot for, speak about some of the models in that range, why you should go for the ones I name, what to look for in them, and ultimately that it's all dependent on your budget!

Looking forward to your headers video!
Thanks for watching!
Great information. Thank you for offering some advice. Really appreciate it!
Thank you for watching and for the support!
Logan, a couple things you could add to this list is what condition the augers are in. Replacing augers can add up fast and they are a high wear item. Also dealer network is big for me. As combines grow larger and more technically advanced the more a good service department is needed
Both great points! I actually was kicking myself afterwards for not mentioning that the proximity to a dealer is a huge point. Inevitable something will break! Installing new augers is also something to take into consideration for sure.
@@LHFarmsTN keep up the good work! Im glad to see your back to making regular videos and I always look forward to you and Bobby lee’s Friday podcast!
Putting tipton county on the map
Haha I don't know about that but I enjoy making the videos!
I think a John Deere 9660 is a great size
For sure, I should have added 9650 and up on the size is gonna be pretty good
My husband has a small cattle operation and always wants to buy new equipment, truck, etc. How do I get him to stop?
Hahaha I got a good laugh out of this! I'm probably not a good influence on him when it comes to looking at equipment lol
Your husband sounds like a smart man that is simply investing in his business. You should appreciate such a forward thinking businessman!
🤣🤣🤣
What do you believe is “to high” for sep hours?
Man that's really hard to say. The 9770 I had, had 3,000 sep hours I believe but all the shaker arms had been replaced and basically the entire back end of the combine was new. In that case the hours didn't scare me. I also knew the machine as it was my dad who traded it in before I got it.
Now if I didn't know the farmer who had a machine before and I don't know much history on it then 3,000 sep hours would concern me. Starting out you really can't afford to be all that picky though. I'd try to find one in that 3k sep range or less ideally.
