Love it... I hope to move into the permaculture way of life within the next two years, starting as an absolute novice so much work to do, so hard to get one on one help and information in my area and it seems permaculture has become a little commercialised and very expensive to learn.

This is a new and different perspective that I have never heard enunciated before.
I have eaten organic non GMO for years and have recoiled at the stories of farmers using roundup to desiccate harvested wheat.
I have no doubt that all this poisoned grain is much of what contributes to the tidal wave of autism in children and a myrid of other ills that face us all.
    I appreciate your presentation.

Hi Nicholas, I really liked the video and decided to learn a bit more about mycelia and their importance to plant growth. Do you think you could explain a bit about what happens to the fungus and mycelia over time? Does this fungus just disappear? Or is its use just circumvented with the water soluble fertilizers?

I disagree about Permaculture being about 'personal' philosophies / moralities / values / beliefs or even about "positivity". I want to learn Permaculture not because I disagree with modern agricultural practices or any other personal beliefs/opinions, but because I want to create an ecosystem that will thrive and flourish on it's own whilst providing food for me. That's what I thought Permaculture was all about "the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient." The added ideas and beliefs which I find all too often associated with Permaculture really turns me away since the books / videos I've been reading / watching are filled with it instead of getting to the actual content of designing and implementing self-sustaining agricultural systems and/or ecosystems. There are so many variables to consider when designing an ecosystem due to varying environments / climates, which I have yet to find a good resource to utilize because so many people would rather focus on talking about their personal motivations and opinions than providing actual information. And thus I am stuck in a situation where I want to learn more, but am put off by the constant barrage of peoples opinions that have nothing to do with Permaculture systems/practices/methods/etc..
I guess I will start researching about ecology rather than "permaculture" because it seems to be more about "culture" rather than it's actual definition which is "the development of agricultural ecosystems intended to be sustainable and self-sufficient."

why isn't big vegetation good? Where can I get more information on this? My friends have a very cool garden in their back yard in Los Aneles and the sizes of the veggies are huge, they have inspired me to want to grow my own food too, I grew up on a farm but we used fertilizer and such, now I'm in southern California and would like to grow in my yard but am just trying to get a solid foundation in my mind of how to do this in an organic way. Thanks for the information

Not all agriculture is bad though and there are some really great farmers and agronomists in the states that are seeing the catastrophic impacts that you talk about; desertification, loss of bio-diversity and soil degradation and doing something about it. Have a look at Ray Archuleta, he's such a cool chap, and is teaching farmers about many of the things you mentioned, to move towards healthy and sustainable food production.

Please don't tell me how permaculture "solves" the "problem" of money. First of all, it doesn't. Second, you don't understand money. Stick to the part you do understand -- that part is much appreciated.
