  • Patty moved from California to Panama. She has lived in several different areas while house sitting but decided to make El Valle de Anton her home. Watch the video to learn why she picked El Valle de Anton.
    El Valle de Anton is about 2 hours west of Panama City. It's at 1920 feet (588 meters) elevation so cooler than the coastal towns but warmer than other highland towns. El Valle has grocery stores and restaurants. But for most shopping or medical care, you will need to drive about 1 hour to Coronado or Penenome.
    WARNING: It is VERY DIFFICULT to find a rental in El Valle de Anton.
    El Valle is a town in central Panama. It's in the crater of an extinct volcano, surrounded by mountains and cloud forests. To the north, Cerro Gaital National Park protects 3 hills: Cerro Gaital, Cerro Pajita and Cerro Caracoral. Its trails have ocean views and the park is home to hundreds of species of native birds, including the red-legged honeycreeper, the bay-headed tanager, and the blue-crowned motmot.

      This is by far the best investment in my future, i've done so far. Honest open information, resources, and contacts without sugar coating, as a german i love that. Very rare in "modern society". I never make any "advertising" because, i am extremely sceptical, but here i have no problem doing exactly that. Panama was never on my radar since i stumbled on this.

    My grandparents had the house that is in front of El Rey Supermarket but they sold it in 1986. I remember back in the mid 70s and 80s going to El Valle when we were finish with school. I used to fly a kite in the field of the school that is next to the house. I wish I could have been old enough to buy it from my grandparents but I was just getting out of middle school. I have great memories and visit every year.

    Thank you Patty. It's very beautiful. Only one thing. Looks like the Ministry of Public Works (MOP) needs to resume it duties on them roads. Looks like they have become pot-hole ridden in the past 3 years. Although I was also told that MOP slowed down its works during the pandemic and that some of the moneys had been diverted elsewhere to ensure that people were ok during lock-downs and the truth is that in Panama there were very very few evictions, as compared to the U.S., which still has a lot of potholes in many of its towns. So, I really can't complain too too much, as it is all a matter of priorities. I believe you have landed in the right place. Enjoy and make yourself at home!!

    Thank you Patty and PRT! Another great video. I'm wondering which city in Panama would be the best for people who love to walk everywhere. I miss living in Japan because everyone walks, everywhere, and it was safe and clean and so much to do (restaurants, coffee shops, convenience stores, etc.). Would Anton, Boquete, or maybe Casco Viejo be better for walking? My first thought is to live in Boquete, close enough to town to walk ... to the brewery, the coffee shops, stores, restaurants, bus station, etc.

      I have never lived in a country as safe as Japan, but you know its very expensive. This is due to the cultural stigma of crime and theft being a dishonor and shame to your entire family. if you hurt some one in Japan you are expected to take care of their family the rest of your life. There are no Poor and homeless to be found, they must exist but i never saw any. No pan handlers in Japan, no people with signs at the off ramp asking for help. Then there is South America, Central America, Mexico, And U.S.A. These places have areas of immense poverty and people that must see crime as an only resort out of poverty. Have you been to L.A.? I am not saying that all poor people are criminals, this is obviously not true. I have been very poor and at one time homeless myself in the good old U.S.A.. Just my observation as i have been to every country in the world that the state department would allow several times. That said, i would say every town in Panama, Ecuador, Costa Rica, even Bolivia is safer than L.A., Chicago, N.Y.C. or Minneapolis.

      Good to know about Japan. Having a community in a pedestrian village is the key to a happy life. My Dad lives there and he's going strong at 95.
      Downtown Boquete is not quaint. The sidewalks are a challenge. Not exactly a joy to behold. FYI.

    I like El Valle, but I'd prefer to buy an empty lot and build a house. It is cheaper and labor in Panama is also cheaper. Good luck to you Patty Blues Eyes.

      building in Panama is not so easy. It's better to live in Panama for at least a year before you decide to take on a building project

      Nicer than the States, but is still to hot for me. I live in the Costa Rican Mountains. Lots of wildlife. I am close to San Ramon. I been to David, restaurants, only bars. The water tastes bad too. I would not leave Costa Rica.

    Hi patty, thanks for your informative videos , I’ve been watching your videos and I am very much interested in checking out the Anton , I be coming back to Panama again in a month or so, my health permitting, where would you suggest to stay ?
    What’s the monthly rent on that one place you mentioned with a warm spring pool? I have a mani back issue and walking in water is very relaxing and bring relief.
    I don’t know if it possible to send me the info on private message? If not I’ll be checking this site for your answer , appreciated, thanks 🙏

      she bought a car in Panama. Internet is good in some places but slower in others. It all depends on where you live in Panama. I have 150 Mpbs at my house in with fiber optics.

    Why does PRT not include places like El Valle & Pedasi on the 7 day tour rather than having to spend the last three nights in Boquete? It's a bit of a deterrent for signing up.

      In Boquete, i know of several furnished one bedroom rentals for less than $450 which includes all utilities. It's harder to find a rental in El Valle de Anton.

    I admit Vulcan and Boquete were dump places - way too much rain and too cold. Panama has long beaches areas from completely empty to full of life.

    My son was visiting me from Germany and he had a travel book with him. “El Valle de Anton…” Next morning we started our journey from the Coronado area. If I ever have to go there again, I will purchase a German tank that I can actually get to El Valle de Anton without worrying that I am loosing my front or rear axle. Pot holes as deep as 10 inches. On some spots, the whole road surface was missing! Finally at El Valle de Anton, you got hit with the complete overpriced goods and art in El Valle. When farmers buy a “Panamanian sombrero” for $10… in El Valle de Anton, they ask …. Hold your seat…. $85 for a sombrero!! Expats in El Valle de Anton must be people with a very low IQ. Absolutely nobody, clear in his mind would pay that ridiculous price. But it looks like, Americans do. I had a talk with a nice Gentleman who owns a big store for souvenirs in El Valle. “Yes. Americans buy. They do not compare prices or think…” 😮 After 2 hours, I just had enough from that tourist trap! And I was happy that I still had 4 wheels on my car! Ridiculous that people still advertise this place!

    • @PanamaRelocationTours
      @PanamaRelocationTours  Před 5 měsíci

      The road to get to El Valle gets worse every year. Too bad it is not repaired. You're right that it's a tourist town with tourists prices in some areas. It IS absolutely beautiful though. Pros and cons everywhere in Panama.

  • @GabrielWalsh
    @GabrielWalsh Před měsícem

    Technically El Valle is not a "Mountain" town. The valley it is in is actually the caldera of an exploded volcano, which is why the entire valley is ringed by mountains. Pull it up on Google Earth and you'll immediately see what I'm talking about. Cool Huh? Now you can tell people you live inside a volcano.

  • @stevelaminack1516

    Nice video Patty, I also enjoy your YT channel. Not sure I would want to live in a volcano crater. No such thing as an extinct volcano. Also PRT, you might consider getting your drone fixed or replaced, the video is way out of focus, don't understand why you would use such poor quality video on an otherwise high quality channel.
