El Valle is much cooler than living in Panama City. Because of the location and the weather, it's a popular place for Panamanians to spend the weekend.
El Valle has grocery stores, restaurants, a doctor's clinic, and it's surrounded by beautiful scenery. There are bike and hiking trails throughout El Valle.

We traveled to El Valle de Anton last week from the US and it really is paradise!!! We finished getting our permanent resident Visa's while there and can't wait until we can move there! We love El Valle !!!!

Thank you for featuring El Valle. In my opinion, it is the most beautiful place in all of Panama. Would like to live there someday. I do have one question, however. I'm a person who likes the sun, every time I see a video of El Valle, it always looks cloudy and overcast. Is that typical?
The video was shot during the rainy season. That's why it is overcast. You usually wake up to blue skies and sunshine then the rains start in the afternoon
I used to live in San Clemente. Great town. Too bad it's in California. Was great in the 1980's.
So sad about the golden frog. So happy that there’s work being done to avert their extinction.

Beautiful! I did some google searches and learned that many of the nearby trails, swimming holes and natural hot springs are only accessible by a fee. Do the locals have their own "secret" places to enjoy or is everyone required to pay a fee to enjoy these?
There are no fee trails too
Would the expat from San Clemente, CA feel comfortable sharing the general price point he paid for his home? Curious in how prices compare in El Valle to other areas?

We were there twenty years ago and there was an old German ship captain running a restaurant and hotel. We became friends and he showed us around Panama City. We had a great time. If anyone knows of him I would like you to tell me if he's still there or what happened to him and if the hotel still exists.
I actually think he might be the former owner of the golden frog hotel. The hotel that Allan now owns.
There's a German owner of one of the restaurants there on the main drag. Sort of in the middle of the Main Street.
I thinking moving in the future tu Panama, to El Valle de Anton. my mother have some land there by the Cerro. I love Downton, my kids was so please with this place.
a question do you guys have like big places to keep the frogs all free and together?. I don't like the little fish tank.

I guess this isn't the best location for older people who want their amenities available nearby without a car... even if it means sacrificing the cool weather and living in humidity....
El Valle has no hospital, very tiny clinic, no doctor offices, no dentist. The closest public hospital is in San Carlos, about 1 hour 15 minutes away. The closest private hospital is in Panama City , a 2++ hour drive. If you want amenities, Boquete or Volcan would have the cool weather AND amenities.
How much renting ?
Rentals are hard to find in El Valle. A furnished two bedroom is about $900.
Beer for 85 cents, how much for a month at the hostel?
Tripadvisor may have hostel prices. Sorry, I do not.
