    Brilliant. This not only detects metal but heat sources also. Perfect then, for finding ideal spots for geothermal power stations.

    I made a simple one using a two transistor oscillator with a 5 inch coil of 3/8 inch copper on the head. And in the box was another oscillator and mixer to the phones. The coax fed power to the head, and brought the signal back up to the head. It is a very simple looking device, but it worked fairly well. It had a flaw however as it seemed to be mainly for iron and especially for aluminum. Gold gave a weak and soft response.

    Thats amazing : I want to make one to find coins .
    Its overwhelming to see all the expensive metal detectors out there . I'm an average joe that has some electronics background and I've always thought there has to be a way to metal detect without buying all the expensive bells and whistles for coin hunting

    I realize that this is an older video, but if you are still doing these kind of projects, you might want to try building the Russian PIRAT pulse induction detector. Mine detects coins at 8 to 9 inches, and bigger stuff much deeper. It's not good for trashy areas though. Just the nature of the beast. I may have to see about building one of these as well, if I can get more depth out of it. Good video. Rekindled my interest.

      I like Minelab metal detectors. If you're looking for deep items, then you need to buy a larger search coil for use with the metal detector. Larger coils have trouble detecting very small objects, but have no problem finding items larger than a pencil eraser.

    Echoing Uncle Doug's comment... but I am interested in knowing/understanding (to a small degree), what is it that Minelab, GB2, etc., companies do to their products allowing them to charge 7G and more? I realize one is PI and the other, I think, is VLF (and no, I don't exactly understand the difference...I should have finished my college degree for Electronics Eng.!). Great video, I will try to build one myself!

    I was wondering about the circuit and I had a couple of questions. Did you use a circuit board and do you actually have to make the circuit or can you purchase it online or somewhere

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  Před 9 lety +1

      You can purchase a kit at the link in the video description area if you do not want to make the circuit yourself.
      Thank You!

    On the schematic at talking electronics there is a 390 ohm surface mount resister between the 500 ohm pot and the transistor did you include this in your circuit.
    Thanks

      @electronicsNmore  Před 9 lety

      Joshua Dowler Hi Josh. There is a 200 ohm resistor in series with the POT. Be sure to use a 10T pot for easier adjustment. Refer to my other video below showing what I used for a POT.
      Thanks.

    as u said to take the coil from the transformer i took it and now the problem is that the copper wire that i took from the transformer are seperated......i mean that the copper wire which i took out is cut from some edges so i wanted to ask that can i solder the ends of the coil with the another end of the other coil to make a 30 meter long coil???????

    • @electronicsNmore
      @electronicsNmore  Před 9 lety

      +Антоан Янев Hi. Both coils are wound in the same direction then taped together, or you can wind one coil on the spool like in the video, and place the other coil tight on top.

    • @electronicsNmore

      Tim Nelson Fairly stable. The 10T pot allows for easy threshold adjustment. Remember, this is a very simple metal detector, but it certainly works well for what it is.
