- Thanos (UK: /ˈθænɒs/, US: /-oʊs/) is a fictional comic book supervillain appearing in publications by the American publisher Marvel Comics. Created by writer/artist Jim Starlin, the character first appeared in The Invincible Iron Man #55 (cover dated February 1973). Thanos is one of the most powerful villains in the Marvel Universe and has clashed with many heroes including the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, among many others.
The character appears in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portrayed by Damion Poitier in The Avengers (2012), and by Josh Brolin in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and the fourth Avengers film (2019) through voice and motion capture. The character has also appeared in various comic adaptations, including animated television series, arcade, and video games. - Zábava
So here’s a question, did they intended the age of ultron scene to show how he got the infinity gauntlet and they changed it later to show he got it forged by the giant Thor knew in infinity war, or did he just keep the glove in that weird case thing, cause it’s shown that he never takes it off when he puts it on and since it took the full strength of multiple really strong avengers to get close to pulling it off, it doesn’t come off easily and post snap it’s basically fused to his arm
The Age of Ultron stinger was him stealing the gauntlet from the Asgardian vaults. Him making the gauntlet was long before. So basically the Age of Ultron scene was him getting it back.
@@NeelTheSphynx ooooh okay thank you
I like to think that the AoU scene is him getting the gauntlet from Nidavellir, right after it was made
@@NeelTheSphynx
WRONG.
Thanos didn't get back gauntlet from Asgard. Can you cite the source where you read this bs?
He simply wore the gauntlet in his OWN possession.
@@NeelTheSphynx actually confirmed in infinity war is that the post credits scene is when the dwarves made the gauntlet when they were being held hostage.

I think 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy Thanos is exactly how a comic reader would imagine Thanos. He looked scary and threatening there, and I love the grin he does. I realize Infinity War Thanos is not like that at all. He's not the type to do an evil smile and laugh. He's more serious.
Tbh, I like IW Thanos more bc he had better depth. Sure he was more comic accurate in GOTG and Endgame, but he was more openly villainous. But still, he was doing it to try to save the universe from overpopulation, and in Endgame, he was still well portrayed, despite being openly villainous, because he accepted his fate after Tony snapped instead of rage quitting.
I think he was more ugly in live action I’m happy they changed it
IW thanos is definetely the best villian in movie history brother. every single word he says is like a quote
Its why he works.
Hes not a typical thug, or bully.
Hes not simping for death. He's a gladiator with a mission to save the universe.
It was undone, but he was a man of his word. Through and through.

The build up to him was mega. A cohesion that tied the movies together. Something that is missing in this current phase 4
Cause phase 4 is phase
1 introducing the new main characters💀
Phase 4 is like the phase 1 of Marvel, it introduces the multiverse Saga.
I heard in antman 3 they will tease the Council of Kang's which is going to set up kang dynasty and secret wars.
But in a horrible way
Yeah, that's what's happening now is. . . . let's just say it, it's building up to nothing! Now they're trying to make Kang to be the new Thanos of this new Multiverse Saga since the Infinity Saga ended up with the defeat of Thanos. But they also now, try to put the Mutants into the MCU at the same time, and it's building a mess!
"To challenge them is, is to court... death"
Interesting. It seems at this point, there were still plans to keep Thanos' motivations closer to the comics.
They were, until Age of Ultron, portraying Thanos more closely to his comic book counterpart. However, in Infinity War, they transformed him into a more nuanced and compelling villain with intriguing motives.
It's fascinating to observe the evolution of Thanos and his realm over the years, encompassing changes in both aesthetics and themes. In 2012, due to less advanced technology, a dark setting with simple objects was utilized. Thanos was smaller, portrayed by an actor with prosthetics. By 2014 and 2015, improved technology allowed a complete overhaul of Thanos' domain in terms of design, with a different actor and enhanced by VFX to resemble his comic book counterpart more closely. The most significant alterations occurred in 2018. Thanos and nearly everything associated with him underwent a complete transformation. His appearance became less monstrous, with a light purple skin tone replacing the dark purple, no more blue glowing eyes, and a different armor and build. His voice sounded less deep, and he was now brought to life through motion capture. Moreover, he abandoned a permanent residence for a colossal spaceship named after his earlier domain. The Black Order, originating from the comics, was suddenly serving him. Notably, his motives shifted from a desire to rule the universe to a distorted belief in wiping out half of all life. Even the Infinity Stones underwent slight changes in color and appearance. Despite these extensive modifications, Marvel skillfully maintained a connection between the familiar Thanos and his earlier version, ensuring coherence in the overarching narrative of the Infinity Saga.
@somebody4763 his motives were faux compelling in IW. In reality, his logic made no sense. There's a million ways you could deal with overpopulated planets without wiping half of all life. He was just crazy.

they were unprepared at first when they put Thanos first cameo
There’s a purple tint
You can tell that they were really unprepared for Thanos and they spent the years developing his character for Infinity War which is why everything about him is so different.
i think that's why he wears the glove
I always assumed that hand was the alien kneeling before him.
That "I'll do it myself" scene where he grabs the gauntlet was after Age of Ultron. So that means he wiped out the dwarfs a lot earlier than they said earlier.

I’m still confused on why marvel allowed the same actor josh brolin to play thanos in the avengers 2 - 4 and cable in deadpool 2 but I’m not complaining because he’s great in both

The way Thanos smiles after he says "court death" must mean that death does somewhat exist in the mcu, just like the infinity gauntlet comic?
No. She was probably going to exist originally but considering that they went with a different motive for Thanos than his comic self, I highly doubt she still exists.
Does anyone else miss when MCU was just simple and solely focused on the Avengers and Guardians (Infinity) storyline? Now it’s just hap-hazard and all over the place like a crazy web, and it’s just impossible to keep up. I was one of their most avid fans but since Phase 4, I just lost most of my interest. Then again, everything runs its due course. Its a core memory of my childhood and I will always be grateful for that

Idk, I mean I think he was intimidating in all movies
Thanos in infinity acts like the people will survive if he snaps half of life.
In endgame he now tries to destroy all of life and create a new one. Basically thanos wants to be a God
Actually that will to become a god probably comes from when Thor told him 'you will never be a good' in infinity way

Thanos is, hands down, the best MCU villain in MCU imo. He had better CGI in Infinity War and Endgame.
GOTG Thanos and Endgame Thanos were comic accurate. The armor he kept on, it was great. IW Thanos was the best iteration of Thanos bc he was serious, dude defeated the heroes with little effort, and he was trying to reallocate the universe’s resources. Endgame Thanos was still good, despite being more openly villainous like how he was in the comics, because when Iron Man snapped, instead of rage quitting, he accepted his fate.

What prosthetics are yall seeing in the 2012 thanos?
I remember it being the biggest flex as a kid when I went to see the first Avengers film with all my friends and I was the only one who knew who Thanos was and letting them think it was because I read the comics when in reality it was because I watched the Super Hero Squad cartoon.
Back then my kid mind was blown when i see thanos in guardians of the galaxy i called everyone in house to make them watch Avengers post credit then pointing it to everyone it is the same purple dude from guardians of the galaxy
Damion Poltier as thanos is perfect choice
Why they changed it...?
He looked more Thanos than the pathetic purple human who is a Thanos wannabe
I disagree Josh Brolin looked way better
@@thegreatsalmon137
No, back then his time "Poltier" the technology for cgi was not like what is nowadays, beside that here they didn't use cgi they put mask on his face so it gave the realistic impression to the character. Anyways his part on movie was less than 2 Sec.
So yea! They didn't bother themselves to hire big star for 2 Sec.

2012 thanos looks scary
So was Lady Death supposed to be in MCU but was scrapped later?
In the first scene he was in "The Other" said "To challenge them is to court...Death"
Yes
Yeah, I'm assuming so. I guess Marvel never had it all planned here. All they knew is that Thanos was gonna be the big villian. They didn't make the plot yet. You can tell they were unprepared because how different Thanos is here. They spent the years developing his character.
No. It’s a simple play on words, he literally means to challenge them is to risk dying, but in the way it’s worded, it’s a little bone they threw to the fans who know his original motives for obtaining the stones, but it was never going to be his actual motive in this universe.
Thanos was first told that Humans are unruly, and can't be Ruled.
Kang said he was once called a Ruler.
Thanos then is told that to Challenge Humans would be to Court Death.
The most Powerful entity in Marvel comics is referenced only as, One-Above-All. But to us, Humans, we would define this better, and label it as, "Us as One-Above-All off them"... They, anything in that ever be brought up in comincs, can only label Humans as One-Above-All.
Thanos realizing this back in 2012, starts out a different plan to win over Death, a plan that he realizes Kang can't help him see all of the events for.
When we see him say he is going to do it himself and put on the Infinity Gauntlet, regardless of what the perceived timeline has shown us, it's all speculative at this point, but to me, that's when we Thanos first has the deal in place to take the Reality Stone.
Then everything we see, with presumably Brolin Thanos (End Game Thanos) getting the Power Stone as his first, that was all a different Reality.
This is why Kang is currently trying to upload POST-Snap timelines to the TVA (not sure if good or bad, or both yet... referring to Kang). But it's important to note that Loki from the Post Snap timeframe (5 years passing) was when the TVA had been at work trying to figure out the Post Snap "anomaly" universe.
This was why Möbius was employed as a TVA agent already in Loki (he leaked the Möbius Strip to Tony Stark Post-Snap) and was also after all the other Loki's, The real Thanos (with the Reality Gem as the first stone captured, not Brolin/End Game Thanos) is still in deals with entities, including Ronin, to hold up their end of the fight. Nebula is the only Character seen with both Thanos Versions.
Ant Man was the one who kicked the Briefcase during the Post Snap time frame (thanks to a Rat stepping on an impounded van... hmmmm).
ANT MAN was also, in the Trailer to QuantuMania seen, in a Library (Miss Minutes - TVA processing - sidenote: Our Loki, wasn't aware of our Post-Snap timeline, and only aware he had a secret deal with Reality gem Thanos to take over Earth (presumably with the Throne to Asgard as a hidden end goal, which was the cause to his Mother's Death, but he didn't know when going through TVA Processing - ) reading his Tell-All Autobiography in front of the Book Section with "POST" written down the side bookcase.
Kang wants our Universes Timeline, as his deal with Reality Thanos, maybe from protection from his demise, The Void, which he was lucky enough to harness and weaponize... which some may already know that the Baskin 31 Robbins, I Love U 3000, Qu-Ant-U-Man-ia, references us to the good form of The Void (Black Goliath - Bill Foster - Father to Ghost), Sentry - 31st Century References.
Obviously, using the power of Nathanial Richards, son of Reed Richards, Founder of the Fantastic 4, was a great tie-in for why they have been hidden away, as well as Kangs ties to Apocalypse (the earliest Mutant), was the best way to take newly reclaimed property rights, with Dr Doom soon to be revealed as another Reality Gem Thanos cohort in the creating of Battleworld, fragments of the collapsing Multiverse.
