He had a strong emotional attachment to trains imprinted on him as a young impressionable child and those train workers who took him in as part of their tribe, taught him a useful trade and provided the parental safety and security he missed elsewhere. Guiding the trains gives his Asperger mind that methodical peace and purpose it requires to flourish. Unfortunately parental guidance and society have failed him and wasted his potential.

Status update : Darius is a 3 time convicted felon. He was deemed " dangerous mental disorder", which both will cause him to be locked up in a secure psychiatric facility for the foreseeable future. He is deemed to be a "track one" offender, which will land him in a secure psychiatric institution indefinitely. He was previously held at Kirby, treated poorly and erroneously designated "female" "psychotic" and a "white irish alcoholic" . Due to the poor handling of this he has ended up in Rikers Island in New York.
The only hope is that the law was passed to end rikers island in a few years. Maybe he will go back to Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center. Where he can live his days as a white irish alcoholic female. Good job to our hard and diligent working court systems.
Ps : The lawyer Sally Butler is said to have denied plea deals so she can benefit from movie deals about this. As long as people dont go see a movie about someone who will never receive royalties for this is something you can do to help him.

to become a train conductor Make sure that your past employment information, criminal history, and driving history are as accurate as possible. Train conductors must pass a mandatory background check; count on the check to uncover any skeletons in your closet, provided that they're on your public record.Your resume and cover letter should demonstrate that you are responsible, accountable, and able to work well under pressure. The only requirements are a high school diploma (or GED equivalent) and 2-3 years of general work experience (or college). However, your resume will look much stronger if you have worked in the transportation or safety industries; experience as a bus driver, tram driver, or ferry pilot will especially qualify you.Any experience with operations--in the transport industry, the food industry, retail, etc.-- will work in your favor

Let me advocate for the transit company now: He has an illness and indeed needs help, he is very good at the job when everything goes smoothly but what if something goes wrong... say that the train derails or that a tunnel collapses or some other dramatic unforeseen event. Will he be able to do his job and guide the customers to safety? That's pretty much the only real reason he will never get a job as a transit worker.
Now who should we blame? We should blame the parents for not seeing what was going on and guiding their son. We should blame the justice system for refusing to take responsibility and guiding this sick man. Instead they push the responsibility onto the rehabilitation network who also did not take responsibility and just locked him up and forgot about him.
Why are you paying taxes to feed the sick and isolate them from society instead of treating them? You could just aswell save some cash and just execute them like the nazi's would do to anyone with a terminal illness or something else that makes them abnormal. (Ooh I definitely touched something sensitive here)

    • @Bivesu
      @Bivesu Před 7 lety +4

And you're being naive and blind of reality. The system just doesn't work that way. Their is a reason why that one guy said "if he could get a job in a train museum or something" instead of "if they could just give him that job as a train driver" and you are a fool for not seeing that. You are narrow minded.
You only see in political correct colors ruling out all reasoning in the process. Think of a real solution instead of joining all the ignorant ones and saying that they should just give him that job as train driver.
If something unexpected were to happen you simply can't rely on him to do his job which is what I was trying to point out. It doesn't have to be a collapsed tunnel it could just as well be a fight between passengers.
Remember the man is diagnosed with an illness which he is required to say in his job interviews. I'm trying to explain here why they can't accept him.
We live in a capitalist democracy. This means independent free press that seeks revenue through viewing numbers. If something were to happen and the press find out he was involved the whole media world is gonna paint them as bad guys. The world loves a good scandal and companies hate bad press.

+Rayach Matar Laughing isn't a sign of taking something lightly by no means. This story definitely touches my heart, but to say you shouldn't laugh at certain situations because they are "serious" is a bit extreme. It's not like I'm ridiculing the guy. My laugher is really directed at MTA. I also greatly disagree with your statement about society. Society isn't messed up because people laugh at serious situations, its fucked up because of "groupthink".
It's okay to laugh, its a healthy part of life, and reduces stress. Secondly, this story has nothing to do with isolating and depriving civil rights, the guy doesn't have a human/civil right to drive the train. And by the way he looks, he's definitely well taken care of.
Trust me, I really want this guy to be able work as a train engineer as much as you do.

'Society' and employers look at any criminal charge as a LIFELONG sentence.
They use it as a reason to omit certain people from the hiring pool.
There is no 'rehabilitation' or 'forgiveness'...it's like having had a driver's license suspension 30 years ago...but it STILL remains on your driving record.

Take for example a skilled hacker who is successful at circumventing a corporate network that has multiple layers of security. Let's say for the sake of this example he/she is caught and convicted for their actions. You're trying to tell me that a computer/network security company wouldn't consider hiring this person? lol hahaha I can provide numerous examples where this was the case.
Any convictions or wrong doing should be put into context, hence why we have an interview process.
