Ever since I started watching these “dirty dining” videos, I’ve basically started almost exclusively eating at home and preparing my own meals.

This is why I eat at home! I don’t trust other people cooking for me. People don’t wash their hands enough while cooking. You just never know what they are doing to your food.

There are many network news that have a Dirty Dining reporter in our state had a DD show for 20yrs. This type of segments are nothing new its just easy to access with the internet.
That's why I cook for my family at home.
The beginning of Covid....I have prepared several new dishes at home and control my sodium intake👍
hahahaha, you are very short sighted.... to say the least. now, do you ever buy things that is already cooked or pre prepared like 99 percent of food in the grocery store that came from somewhere else? do you make your own bread, cheese, milk, cakes, biscuits, pancakes, waffles, etc or did those food come from somewhere else that you have never seen with people who might be just as nasty and unhygienic?

The message needs to get across at the establishment, customers are getting sick because of this and all they get is a slap on the wrist. However there is a way to communicate that with the employees I agree but change needs to happen and the more attention this gets the better.

I got hired at this chain when i was just a teenager and quit the same day! never came back nor ate at this chain afterwards. It disgusted me to see what i did. The way i grew up and my conscious could not serve anyone food knowing what i did. When i worked my season jobs at ritas waterice, i didn't play about sanitizing nor cleaning. We would have mystery shoppers and inspections and we passed every time! So when we closed for the season, i never imagined seeing such filth at another eatery. The managers were just used to it and i couldn't take it. Each time i offered to help clean the icecream machine i was just told "oh it's ok you don't have to do that just leave it" was beyond me. Makes you think how people live at home

In the United States of America. People don't take pride anymore preparing food in restaurants. Lots of restaurant cooks come from struggling countries. That's the cooking habits where they come from.

the funny thing is, in those countries you speak of, they have better hygiene that 99 percent of americans and we never hear of them dying or getting sick from food contamination but for some reason, in the cleanest place on the planet, people get sick every month from food contamination... you want to see filth, just check in the back of most corporate restaurants ... cooking food out in the natural air has never killed anyone and most home barbeque happens outside but hey whatever

I have a question. After the "ordered clean up" and the "reinspection", do they think these restaurants will magically start practicing good hygiene???? My personal opinion is they might straighten up for about a week or 2, but those careless and unsanitary habits are gonna resurface, soon after. I work in a restaurant environment. I see this never ending cycle too often.

In their defense, it seems like they may not be malicious here. @ 2:22 it's clear that they have recently been cited for "erecting a canopy or roof without permit. Is it possible this would have been a canopy for the "unapproved outdoor kitchen" which was not protected from environmental contamination as mentioned before? This is the type of red tape and legal jargon that can make honest people look worse than they are.

Some people from foreign countries would see absolutely nothing wrong with these poor kitchen practices! When I lived in Korea, it was normal to see your half cooked chicken sitting in the windowsill covered in flies. I ate it and never got sick. Maybe because I was drinking so much Korean beer, which was laced with formaldehyde.

If you work at a nasty place in gross violation you need to call the authorities. Nobody else will know so you don't have to worry about retribution, so long as you keep your mouth shut.

Restaurants as a business are very difficult to operate in a profitable manner. Overhead is so high; any little unexpected thing could wipe you out if you don't have things set up properly. Plus, people just don't have any integrity, morals, or work ethic anymore. Especially at a low paying job such as in the food industry.
