They are bred to be very brave, and light on their feet, and actually putting more weight on their haunches so they can do those quick moves. They have an excellent athletic posture that is like pure dressage training in action. It's the Vaquero tradition that's being lost somewhat in the rest of the horse world. This horse looks to me to trust the rider and trainer to keep him out of trouble. I really hope when she retires that she passes on her training secrets to others.

I have a lot of personal things to say, but there is something not personal that I want to say. I have a friend, a guy who grew up in a family that had a love of bullfighting. He loved it, and he still loves it. But he's told me that every time a girlfriend finds out about his passion for it, they either leave him immediately, or leave after failing to 'convert' him. This friend has all but given up on finding a woman that shares his love of this thing, and hasn't told his current lady.
So, this video makes me hopeful for him.

I can totally understand by reading the comments why he wouldn't feel comfortable. I for one have always thought it was beautiful, beast vs man, I was also taught about the actual traditions. The bull is celebrated as the Matador and it is more like a dance. I view it as it is and not brutal or cruel. No different than a hunter mounting deer heads and posing with their fresh kill. These people also butcher and feed people. It's not like they just have a pile of dead bulls in the alley.

I've been watching bullfights since I was about seven years old, in the 1940's. I watched in Colombia, in Spain and in Mexico. When you grow up with it, you understand the history and art more than the cruelty. It is now being outlawed in more and more places, and so be it. I can't help but have some thoughts on it. (1) Bulls/cows are slaughtered all the time. Don't complain about it while enjoying a big whopper. (2) In many professions, there is a ritual expression of the "highest art," the best of the best, a ceremonial process where practitioners show their prowess. In this respect, it's no different than a good ole farmers' tractor pull. It is a very human need. OK, do away with it. But, in the meantime, don't feel so superior. Don't like it; but, don't condemn it without some understanding. Bull fights have been pictured in Minoan times-- three thousand years ago. (3) Many Spaniards and Latin Americans share your view, so don't condemn them. They live with it, and are more reconciled than an outraged hippy in Iowa.

I was googling bullfighting, and this result from an NPR article said-to paraphrase-that if the matador (I'm thinking/talking about... "True" matadors? Non-mounted/straight leg matadors?), Were to find that the bull "behaved well", that the matador would (rarely) pardon the bull/not kill it, and so I tried wording my question all sorts of ways to fong out what constitutes the bull "behaving well" enough to not be slain?
Like, are they saying if the bull doesn't act aggressive? Which doesn't make sense because these animals are purposely raised with little to zero human contact in order to be aggressive, plus any other practices to ensure they're nice and mean, and that is the whole point of the bullfight; if the bull was well behaved and docile, then there is no bullfight, so I guess... If anyone who knows a lot about bullfighting/comes from or lives in a country where it's practiced in its truest, most traditional form, if yous can explain what "behaving well" on the bull's part means or looks like?
On the contrary, the indulto (pardon) is granted if the bull has been a particularly brave fighter. He must charge aggressively and energetically. He will then be chosen as the reproductive male to guarantee the preservation of a fierce race of fighting bulls.

I just read a kids book by a Polish author, published in 1964, In the Shadow of the Bull.
It has a lot of bullfighting info and makes me appreciate it more and understand it more, but like you I was also curious about that question so I was glad that you asked it.

@@theotherside931 football is sport. It's like every sport a competition with same chances for every combattant. It has rules, is has fairness. and after the fight the combattants leave the field alive (in most cases) and hopefully uninjured - it's never the goal of a sport fight to kill the rival.
Bullfighting lacks all of this. Therefore by definition it's no sport. It's just animal torture, masked as a game of heroes who actually are cowards.
That's why I don't need to watch the fighting footage to know this woman is an absolute lowlife.

There is no "understanding the culture" - it's just a matter of whether you care about animal abuse or not. The bulls aren't there because they want to be a part of this gruesome "tradition", they're just being tortured to death while people cheer. There is no context in which that is acceptable.

Once I thought it was cruel but if you think about it, it is a tradition. Just like any other tradition it is used today like in america where we force feed livestock just to kill them for mass consumption. While this tradition earns respect to the bullfighter and yes after the bull is killed it is sent to the slaughterhouse already dead. I believe it is a good and bad tradition but I would rather go with bullfighting than a live slaughterhouse. P.s. they only kill the adults not the young

What I mean is it takes skill clearly but after they get use to the initial fear of seeing one, they aren’t brave in that they don’t expect death each time and is not a fair comparison to the bull who is killed regardless and is the one trapped. They don’t expect to be killed any more then a deer hunter is scared to be killed by a deer. Hunting for food is fine by would you call shooting a deer or trapped squirrel brave? It’s the same as trapped and wounded bull and surrounded by help. Boxing is braver because you are constantly getting hit as opposed to a show where you minimize all damage except to the ‘opponent’!

If it was not for the cynical greed of the bullfighting industry and the foreign tourists eager to pay big $$$ to "see a bullfight" in Spain because they read Hemingway (or saw a bullfighting movie) the industry would have gone bankrupt decades ago .Bullfighting is nowhere near the top attraction for the vast majority of Spaniards-its football (aka soccer). They only have a chance for revenge in bullfights. Farm slaughterers and regular hunters are the real killers, producing 99.999% of the meat eaten. Bullfights are the only kind of hunting in which the hunter gives his prey some chance to payback.

She is not a picador. She is a rejoneador. Picadores ride on top of horses with lances that tire the bull's neck muscles. Banerilleros place banderillas-- "arrows" with sharp barbs and colorful paper in the bull's shoulders. A matador is by definition, the main bullfighter for that fight, who actually kills the bull in the end (la faena.) Typically, a rejoneador, and that kind of bullfighting does not end in the killing of the bull. The tradition in Portugal, which does much more of the "rejoneador' type fullfighting, does not kill the bull. But maybe a lot of people missed that point.
I am also a female bull fighter im 3 jenerations down from my dads side and i love the rush but i get pushes in a corner were people think that i am evil and that i should get abused and murdered for this but seeing other females in this tradision makes me happy and my cousin also is traning for this (sorry for my english its not my first language)

I encourage CZcams users to report this video for violent or repulsive content. Bullfighting is the 'sport' of torturing and killing an animal for the purposes of entertainment so this video is celebrating and promoting animal abuse.
