Carrie Fisher on why Star Wars was 'low-budget' | BBC Global
This Star Wars Day - May the Fourth be with you - we're revisiting a funny and frank BBC archive interview with Carrie Fisher, aka Princess Leia, from a long time ago… in 1977.
Fisher spoke to the BBC three weeks before Star Wars’ UK cinema release, describing the film as “the most expensive low-budget film ever made".
She discusses the qualities that made both the role of Princess Leia and the script appealing to her, some of the extraordinary techniques employed by the special effects department, and filming the rope swing scene with Mark Hamill.
This clip is from Nationwide, originally broadcast 6 December, 1977.

And now, in 2024, an ultra rare "dual emergence" of cicadas is happening - with two different broods of emerging at the same time. It has not happened for 221 years - and won't happen again for another 221 ye...

This island is very much like the lost island of Rungholt, isn't it.
This is true❤❤❤❤
I’m confused by this. Here in Florida the cicadas are a regular thing every year. Just don’t hear them in winter time. I heard them tonight. Is this unusual?
This man not only survived the Titanic…but also disco. Brave soul.
I'm impressed at the way she randomly described the VFX process and budget, like that.
What a lovely man - the epitome of an English gentleman. I looked up Mrs. Clark, the young lady that he convinced to get into a lifeboat. Shortly before meeting Frank Prentice, she and her husband had apparently spoken with some of their fellow First Class passengers, amongst them Mr. and Mrs. Isidor Straus. That really struck a chord with me - the Strauses were my great-grandparents. Knowing this made Mr. Prentice’s story all the more fascinating for me. I was just a boy when Mrs. Clark died, but a young man when Mr. Prentice gave this interview. How I wish that I’d met him and had a chance to talk to him…

I have nightmares too about the things people have done and said to me. Some experience effect you in such a way you know you will never be the same again.🌹
congrats America, you atom bombed Japan’s Secret Center of Christianity…… you have killed more Christians than any Muslim during the crusades, The Romans, and every religious conflict and still use Christianity as a shield…. dum dums
On a carnivore diet you don’t need any supplements. If you look up carnivore diet on CZcams-you will find soooo many former vegan /vegetarians who became I’ll on multiple levels and then switched to carnivore and haven’t looked back. Health issues gone in days… Also there are peer reviewed studies done over many years on 1000’s of people on different continents showing the link between non-meat eaters diets and higher levels of depression/anxiety… fact 🤷🏽♂️

This guy is a candidate for diabetes. Hope he works out in between those 3 sessions per day.
There is no such thing as nothing. Checkmate Atheists.
I wonder when this lovely gentleman did this interview. He looks remarkably young and is bright as a button. Hard to believe he was on that ship as a young man in 1912. My father was born in 1912 and died in 1996. So this gentleman must have been much older than he looked.
I'm from Chicago and I'm waiting for it 😂
Any religion except Islam is okay.
I wonder if the cycling also is the same in Europe? I would love to hear them again! Greetings from Spain.
Syncretism. I thought to believe Christianity is a closet god in Japan. That said, the images of Maria, Blessed mother Jesus Christ, appear Romanesque, I meant Roman Sculptures.
Give it up. this one was Fr invented by greek gods.
woman body sells
All the men had to do was identify as a woman and they all would have been saved. Too bad they weren’t as enlightened as our culture back then.
And you didn't show us!!!!!!
I live in North Carolina. My mom’s maiden name is Mccaskill. The Mc part is obviously Scottish but the askill is a Gaelic form of the Old. Norse name Asgail meaning ‘cauldron of the gods’. This is very interesting to me in learning more about the interconnection between Gaelic, the Norse, and my ancestral roots. 😊
Remember God sent flies to disobedient people in Exodus 8. God doesn’t change ladies and gentlemen.
Pure, unadulterated, poppycock! 😂

Weird nature
amazing story from an amazing person. May he rest in peace.
This guy seems very balanced and mature, someone I'd like to meet and have a long chat with outside of his job, but I'd never hire him to accompany me to places. It'd be too awkward for me to spend time with a total stranger pretending we enjoy our time together.
And some people even called the police to complain about the noise. No joke.
"...leaders I don't want to name..." Which one? The orange one?
Welcome to the world young cicadas! I hope you enjoy shrieking to your hearts content 🪲
I believe that this man is not only performing a valuable service, but is actively (however ironically😉) opening up a really valuable point of philosophical discussion about humanity itself. Why is a person only considered valuable when they are deemed “productive”? That is a harmful rhetoric, and one that fuels the Great Lie of Capitalism. Do nothing, my man. And keep the conversation going.
Why does the narrator sound like shes forcing her indian accent to be american
This device is from aliens, prove me wrong ! 😉
The title might seem exciting, but I dunno. Doing nothing seems like an awful lot of work.
Curious if the fate of the woman he saved husband survived?
I would love to see the entire interview.
I am the 7,000th like. Interesting! LOL
The myths of Jesus coming back 😅 The man is dead in that case everyone that died should be back right now........
it's literally Christianism, but westerners just can't wrap their heads around religious persecution if it involves Christianity
