I’m a winston griffiths fan but Neville Anderson was one of the most underrated jockey of his time , top jock 💯

I am also a Fanna fan. Neville Anderson and F. Gillespie are the only two top jockeys in that category that did not win any championship, good to see Carl Morgan also getting a ride in the Oaks, he is a very good jockey but many trainers do not use him, I don’t know why, Carl Morgan is very humble….

Neville Anderson was underrated due to his habit of pulling up horses but he knew pace, just like Winston Griffiths remember the 1982 ride on Cesario

One thing I can say for sure is that the groom who is also my father remains the only person to groom and mother and son who have won the derby at Caymanas Park and that is hello poochie lucky and liu chie poo. So proud of this guy and the horse racing back in those days was far more competitive than today. For proof view the 1983 Craven A Classic

Even is late brother H. Anderson could handle himself well when he gets a live mount. I can’t forget that Saturday afternoon when I he won on Princess Marian going 5 straight… I met hon personally at Calder Race track in Florida, he told me a story that he and his brother Neville fell out because of a disagreement, he was riding a horse name Boxer and Neville was on Ockeechobee Babe, the agreement was for Hubert to win but instead Neville beat him in the race. But that’s the reality of racing.

Good morning. I have a question, not a comment.l left Jamaica in April of 1971 and l’ve been back a few times, since then 2016 most recently.
I don’t how updated was videography in racing at Caymanas Park was, in the late 60’s .
I would like to see videos of Rameses winning “The Jamaica Derby “ and Kilowatt winning his last “Bensons and Hedges “ Gold Cup.
Rameses ridden by my good friend,Donald Andrade and Kilowatt ridden by Cleveland Suckie.
Many thanks and l like what l’m seeing.Keep up the good work.

Neville was a competent jockey with great ability....but he wasn't a good jockey....A good jockey doesn't "pull up" his mounts habitually!

Seeing this race,i had asked about the Derby Neville Anderson won with a sprinter trained by Anthony Pearson o/c White man.the Horse 🐴 was Cissario. This Horse 🐴 was a five straight specialist.Anderson put him in front and it was gate to wire.this was another upset in a Derby.Pearson was the owner of a Horse 🐴 named st.valentine then trained by Kingsley Rosé.Pearson was then a trainee to Rose until he got his Trainers License.Congrats to him Pearson to be amongst the small band of small trainer's to win a Derby.

I just realized that No No Nanette (Evening Mist - Bonifleur) had the same dam as Prince Mike (Gentleman Jinsky) and This Bud's For You (Corsicana), all of whom were top class campaigners. Winston Griffiths was the subject of ridicule when he chose to partner Prince Mike over The Viceroy (triple crown winner) in the 1989 2000 Guineas. Ian Spence rode The Viceroy to victory, while Prince Mike could only muster fourth. Griffiths made an infamous mistake thinking The Viceroy wouldn't be able to perform at his optimum/best having been gelded only a few weeks prior to the race. That's racing, though, the best of jockeys make mistakes.

The Viceroy show how great a thoroughbred he was against the odds and Fanna's judgment. Fanna haters were agrieved that he got back the ride for the Derby. He was Feanny's stable jock then and rodé the Viceroy for his 2yo rates.

Hello Poochie Liu was from the most successful (my opinion) broodmare line in Jamaica. My memory recalls that Regal Bloom had Forceful Native by Secret Man who played bridesmaid to Ricochet in the 1981 1000 Guineas and Royal Dad in the 1981 Jamaica Derby. The Regal Bloom line also produced Hello Poochie Liu and Liu Chie Poo and the original Santorini to name a few I can recall

@@clivereid4126 Interestingly, The Viceroy won the Triple Crown with three separate riders, as Andrew Ramgeet partnered him in the final leg - the St. Leger - contested then at 14 furlongs.
