    Have the old property owners come by to see what you have done with your place? Ifound your channel about 10 minths ago and have learned so much. I enjoy watching you guys so much. It is almost as if you are talking right to us. No scripts, yay! I have discovered so many plants watching your channel. I am now obsessed with heucharas and nine barks and have a bunch now! I get a piece of paper out and take notes while watching your videos. It is really nice to see the plants and trees in your space and how you use them, along with how things have worked and not worked for you. I am in zone 4 and get frustrated sometimes not being able to get some of the plants you are able to, but I did get a corral berry, but no beauty berry for me... I feel you (on a MUCH smaller scale). Before I could do any landscaping at our house we had to dig a French drain, build a deck and retaining wall, and lay a cement walkway and patio. It took a few years to be able to tackle the un-fun stuff, and I got so sick of the mud and weeds, but I’m so glad we did it that way. This year the gardens are finally coming into their own after a few years’ time to establish (and LOTS of clearance plants later 🙃). It’s exciting to track the progress when we look back at old pictures.

We live in the exact same zone as you guys, even down to our lovely alkaline soil! We have a long drive way like yours and took the time to build a shale base and domed it in the middle like your excavator man suggested. We have had little to no upkeep on the drive way in 35 years! We also have a business on our property which adds many more vehicles a day than just regular residential traffic! Hope this helps!

    The title of Chad is, heavy equipment operator, and when its virgin land like that its called, pioneering. The driveway should be slightly higher than natural ground with a crown in middle so water drains to either side of driveway, which ends up draining off and out towards main drainages. Otherwise you'll end up with soggy wet spots that'll end up being soft spots which will turn out to be pot holes in the future.😕

    i LOVE watching this kind of thing!! Chad is quite the skilled driver; i find it fascinating to watch these guys do their work - so much finesse with those giant machines... will your big trucks be able to get in and turn around, etc? look at the changes y'all are making - is it weird that i'm as excited as you are??? (probably), oh well..🤣i love how Russell and Cheddar supervise everything y'all do your property is going to look so different and amazing!!! it's also interesting to watch y'all talk things out: y'all make a really good team, complementing each other well... that's going to be such a great place for Benjamin and Baby Girl to run and play and ride bikes and etc... fun fun fun!! congratulations on another project getting checked off the list!! thanks for the video!!

    Your burn pile will be half its size by spring if you get snow. You should use it as a base for incorporating into your new pile. There is a lot to be learned about composting. Martha Stewart has a great one. I learned 55 years ago from a book called All About Composting from the Rodale collection. A place your size will need a very large size area. Plan on using your tractor forks to do the mixing. I know the three box method is popular, but I did batch composting and used two open areas that were adjacent, U shaped and used the two corners to mix back and forth. Have fun.

    Hi Laura and Aaron! It's always interesting to see what you are planning and seeing the work done. The new dumpster enclosure will be really nice and I can see why you'd want to remove the raised bed in that area. It will look so much cleaner. I'm anxious to see the removal of the poles and the lines getting buried. Thank you for taking us along on your journeys!

    My Dad built an aggregate acre-long driveway for his home, with soft curves winding up to his home. One thing he did, you might consider is that he gradually flared the entrance on each side so that his 15ft wide drive was about 25-30ft wide (its actually wider than that I believe)so you could turn in without tearing up the yard.....lol. just as I wrote this, you said you were going to do that! Great minds!! Looks great!😊

    I have been with you since moved to this property and many things have been added/changed - like the hay racks. It is so sad to see them go ( lots of great videos) BUT it is so exciting to see the changes you are doing to our (LOL) property. Aaron and your vision is so great and I love how you keep us in the loop for everything - no matter how small or mundane (never). In this video, I felt like we were neighbors and you were showing us what is/has been done. Even just moving the dumpster was neat - especially its new home! If I am this excited, I can just image how excited you two are 🥰.

    So did you ever forward that video to Door Dash to let them know that one of their drivers destroyed one of your trees?! As a company, if they want to remain reputable, they need to replace or pay for any damages of that tree.

    • @Bamboo4U2
      @Bamboo4U2 Před 3 lety +8

      Yeah, but they'd probably fire the driver too and times are tough for lots of folks right now. If Laura files a claim through her homeowner's insurance (might not be covered), I'm pretty sure any deductible could be written off as a business expense.

    • @coralineadams8070
      @coralineadams8070 Před 3 lety +2

      Even if the tree is replaced won't it always be smaller because it would be a newer tree. Then it wouldn't match the rest of her driveway

    • @teresah4972

    So exciting to see the new changes. Now this is an area I know! Our family business does gravel driveways in Florida. Chad is an equipment operator. The typical driveway is 10-12 ft. wide so I would say 20-24 ft. wide would be ideal. We spread the gravel 4-6in. deep so you get a nice thick layer and don't have dirt coming through. We have different gravel down here than you do up there. It has to be trucked in or brought in by rail because we don't have any down here. It's kind of interesting that it's cheap up there and expensive down here. But then you have a lot of rock up there too.

  • @santahampton
    @santahampton Před 3 lety
