- Hey guys! This is a re-upload. We edited out a small portion of the first video today because it was causing some negativity, and that was my fault because I didn’t really give the whole story. I have a wonderful relationship with my neighbors (and still do) and I don’t want any negativity sent their way. It's honestly such a small thing and I think I made it seem like it was a way bigger deal than it really was. It was inappropriate for me to share details of a private conversation that I had with them. We always strive for this channel to be as positive a place as possible and I feel like I did a bad job of that today, so we plan to explain in a later video more detail surrounding the situation. I’m sorry for the bad flavor this left. Thank you for all your support. ❤️ -Laura

To watch this 2 years later.. knowing how much progress you’ve made .. so encouraging.. you guys have done a great job
Looking back two years is bringing your improvements so amazing. You guys are a great team doing good work to your price of earth. Love your vision and your positive attitude is so good to hear every day. Thank you for being that a positive start to my days.
Dear Laura, you do an amazing job with all of this! I can't imagine trying to manage making sure everything you say is perfect, all the people who expect you to be perfect, and keeping up with everything else right after having a baby, when your body is still getting back to normal. It's hard enough, when things are on an average keel. (And we appreciate you being real and not always perfect, like all of us truly are.) Y'all are awesome, and I pray that you will keep going and not let it all get to you or pull you down!! Much thanks, love, and prayers for y'all!!
No apologies needed. There was nothing negative with your previous video. Some folks just have to find fault in everything. I wish they would take that energy and make a positive difference in the world.
What happened?
@@themamabearlife3339 A neighbor erected a large structure to house a motor home right next to their property and Laura expressed some disappointment over it. But in the same breath, she told everyone how much she liked her neighbor. It just wasn’t a big deal.....not sure why folks had their feathers ruffled over it.
Honestly, I cringed the whole time she was talking about them. I felt bad for the neighbors. Smart to take it down. Best to leave the neighbors out of you tube.
@@simonem.3092 I have people in my neighborhood that have steel workshops that are 3 times the size of their house. Really destroys the beauty of the neighborhood, so I can totally understand her being upset about it.
@@simonem.3092 Agree.
I’ve only ever seen tumbleweeds in cartoons. 😆
Lol.....same here. So funny.
Tumbleweed seeds for sale! We have fields of them if you Visit Arizona you'll even see Christmas tress made out of them Too. Crazy things, you don't notice them till When it's really windy and they roll in big groups reminds me of tribbles on the move. They're are very stickery so not fun too Clean up. Blessings
Same 😊
Visit New Mexico in the Spring and you can dodge them on the roads.

Honestly you saying "If you don't like it get rid of it and put in something you love" has been such a game changer for me and my garden!
My husband and I moved into his parents home after they both passed away and i felt like it was a lovely garden but not mine, after hearing your words of encouragement I have removed the things I didn't like and made it feel like my garden.
Thank you x
You do you! That's why we follow you. I am excited to see the changes.
May you have a lovely, peaceful night with your little ones. Let this go. Life is too short. You are an amazing young woman who inspires many gardeners throughout the world.
Oh those emotions after a new baby!! It doesn’t matter if it’s a crab tree or a special dish that breaks, it’s emotional!
I love watching the transformation! I can’t wait for the warmer weather, the smell of fresh spring blooms and growth!!
I agree with you. Get the stuff out that doesn't bring you joy. Getting rid of diseased plants/trees is smart. Can't wait to see what you all will do. I know it will be fabulous!!!!
Marie, is that you? Lol
Hello from Canada. I found your channel in August 2019 while I was in quandry about my own garden beds. I had planted them 3-4 years previously and didn't like one single thing about them and was stuck because I thought I had to leave them (time and money) and try to revamp them without taking anything out. As I watched you daily over the 2019-2020 fall and winter and went back and watched many, many previous videos, I heard you say many times - if you don't like it and it doesn't bring you joy - take it out. Very wise advice. Last summer (2020) I ripped everything out and started again with the knowledge and education I've gained from watching hundreds of your videos. I replanted the beds and I can't tell you how HAPPY I am that I did. I love the beds, have still more to tackle this summer and can't wait to get started. I've bought probably 50 gardening magazines/books over the last 10 years and could never find what I was looking for in terms of style and guidance with deciding what goes where. Your videos are genius at helping me see what to plant and where. Your style for the most part is mine and I think your beds are absolutely gorgeous. Thank you for showing me the way! I am forever grateful. P.S. I didn't see the earlier video but noticed the camper in the second one - and thought "Oh, my". I know you will figure out the most beautiful living screen and the process will be incredibly helpful to others who face similar challenges. Looking forward to seeing the Hartley go in!
Hi! From the UK here. How is gardening in Canada? Major challenges from the weather? Im intrigued to know how you adjust what you do!
@@ssayed6604 Hi S. Thanks for you comment and hello from Canada! Our zone is 4b with spring beginning in late March/early April and fall beginning mid-September. Can't plant annuals until very late in May. Winter temperatures average around -10C to - 15C with some colder snaps down to -25C to -30C. As long as we stay with plants/shrubs/trees that are 4b or below - everything will survive our winters. There are many plants available for zone 3 and 4 and many new varieties every year. I planted many hydrangeas last summer rated for zone 3 and 4 so I'm looking forward to those in the spring. Hostas do beautifully here, as well. Toughest plants in my garden. Looking foward to many daffs and tulips. Currently, we have about 60 cm of snow on the ground which is probably a little on the light side for us. What is your zone? I imagine it is much higher than ours and you can grow so many beautiful plants. Cheers!
Our temps in the summer average around 25C and can get up into the 30Cs. We seem to have more humid days than not, as of late.
I have to admit. I always felt that your big house, even though gorgeous, didn't have enough green perimeter on all sides to look balanced....almost looked crammed onto the lot. Adding the front yard will dramatically change the balance, not to mention tackling the rebalancing of the trees. WOW - You two are really going for it!!! This will be an amazing Garden Estate when completed! Love it!😍
You were right when you said it was a massive change. Lots going on. Thanks for letting us know about the water feature, I was wondering about that. Can't wait to see it all come together! It will be beautiful!
Great video, what a change! If I were the previous owner I’d be glued to this channel and I’d say, you go girl! Plants change over time and adjustments are necessary.
I love that this project will show how landscapes are created. I think it will encourage folks to join you in "starting from scratch" and watch their gardens flourish over the years!
“ The one who plants trees, knowing that he/ she will never sit under their shade, has at least started to understand the meaning of life.”
- Rabindranath Tagore
Watching the trees go down was interesting it really opened up your yard. I know you will be planting more beautiful things to come 😱😳😁❤️
Sweet Laura and Aaron you both light up when you dream of the home you are making! I love how inspiring and honest you are about the emotions you are feeling. Focus on what will be; your light shines bright!
I totally understand Laura. My husband and I are pastors and no matter how politically correct you try to be sometimes things come off wrong and bring negativity! We are all human! Thank you for looking out for other’s feelings even if it was not really anything you did “wrong.” That shows such character! ❤️ I can’t wait to see all of the changes unfold! No matter what happens with the “new view” I know you will make it look amazing!!!
Thank you for your insightful and very positive comment ☺️
I absolutely Love the way Ken ALWAYS says THANKS to any validation you give him! I always chuckle every time he posts an emoji with his thanks... :-)
Liked it before and I like it again, your an amazing person with an amazing family. Keep up the amazing work and thank you for sharing with us!!!!!🙂
I’m glad you showed the trees coming down because it helped me SEE the changes better than the after shots you started with. I’m excited to watch the yard grow and blossom! 🤗👍
I’m definitely excited to see all that is to come. The constant evolution of your garden is so intriguing. I’ve learned so much from you over the years. And now with your new garden addition and the future upgrade plans to your home and surrounding garden beds, it’s going to be so fun watching you work on a much bigger scale. You got this! We all know you have much more to offer than the already beautiful skill we have seen so far 💖
I enjoyed both videos. Making a redo video, just shows how considerate you are. We all know how kind and giving you are. I'm sure your neighbors appreciate having you guys, as neighbors. I know I would! I know you are going to find a solution ,that will be beautiful.
Why did she make a redo video?
@@New.phone.who.dis1286 entitlement? I think she was just being honest and not intending it to turn in a negative way. They just spent quite a bit of money to bury power lines and the driveway and the new land, etc. she was looking forward to enjoying all those things gone and it was most likely a shock to see that and also she just had a baby. Give her a break! She is a genuine person. Not entitled or acting that way
The solution would be a CZcams APOLOGY to those neighbors, so we all can see it!
I think it’s inconsiderate to place your RV far from your home bc YOU don’t want to see the eyesore, but place it DIRECTLY where your neighbor has to view it.
It’s your property and can place it where you wish, but it’s inconsiderate.
Laura has a right to voice her opinion.
I don't think she needs to apologise in any public way. A true apology should be done in person to her neighbor IF she wants to, I don't think that's any of our business though. Sorry if that's not the same feelings some of you have, but I love her honesty, if she wants to share with us her true feelings about an eyesore, then great! My neighbors have eyesores I'm trying to block from my view as well, so I'm planting evergreen trees to block them; a hideous giant trampoline I can see from my breakfast nook. In other words, I can totally relate, that's just real life guys!
Just so very excited about all the changes you are making!!! I love how you donate so much to your community and friends and family. You have been such an encouragement and inspiration to me during these last years. You just have no idea. It makes me so happy to see the blessings on your life. It's so true that you reap what you sow. Keep sowing happiness. With lots of love!
My heart is so full for you all! I’m also grateful for your advice on letting what doesn’t bring you joy in your garden go! It’s so freeing and allows new freshness to come! Thank you! ❤️
Totally understand you. It's fun and all moving to a house with a mature beautiful garden. But it's so much more filling when you know that the beauty your looking at is from your own dreams and ideeas. Falling in love with a space over an over, from different angles and seasons. Living life in harmony in a space you feel at home in. Your garden is getting so beautiful. When i was little my sister asked me what animal i would want to be for a day if i could, then i Said eagle....today i would say a invincible bee in Lauras garden.(don't want Russel or cheddar to catch me 😼😺🐝🌻🌺🥀🌹🌲🌳😂)
I am so impatient! Can't wait to see the Hartley greenhouse set up and finished!! I've always loved the design! It will definitely fit in well with your home!!
Not even my property and I'm just as excited to see it come together as you are to build it.
The greenhouse and the garden, oh how it warms my heart.
We had ice damage to a tree I've been wanting to (sorry) get rid of for the 9 years we've lived here. Well this is the year, it will be coming down this spring. My semi shaded flower bed will be most sun now. I probly have to rearrange alot of plants but it will be so worth it. No more leaves everywhere all spring summer and fall.
Much love to y'all ❤❤
Great video. Cudo’s to the Editor . I liked the ending. Watching the different angle of the drone give a greater perspective of the tree trimmers taking down the tree. Professionals at work making sure structure below is not damaged. Before it is shipped off to the city. Respect for the ending of the video. Always turn lemons into lemonade.👍😀
I was going to comment about the footage at the end also. Very well-done. The word "surgical" came to mind to describe how these professionals took down the trees. And it appeared they were adding the resulting mulch to the beds at the end -- love that the nutrients were being returned to the soil. This would be good footage for the tree company to use on their website or in a commercial.
When I purchased my first home 5 years ago, I had to remove 2 dead trees and 11 volunteer trees that were not in a good area. I’m so happy that I did, I now have amazing gardens and a great yard. You will be so happy when you start to see your vision...
I didn’t find it negative but I appreciate you helping to create a more positive environment!
What happened?
@@themamabearlife3339 In the original video she mentioned something one of their neighbors did and about a conversation she had with them. I don’t believe it was that big of a deal but some people did so they took it out and she’s going to make a dedicated video talking about it soon.
Thanks Josh, what did her neighbors do?
@@themamabearlife3339 They put in an RV right next to the barn, but unfortunately Laura mentioned how they can see it from pretty much every view from their house.
@@joshuadick327 it's an RV, not a trailer park.
Your garden is so beautiful even through all the changes! Don’t forget about all those dormant plants that will wake up soon enough and add to the beauty once again! So many possibilities!! Enjoy your day!
Holy smokes that’s a huge job. How exciting though!! It’s so cool to look back at old old videos and see the changes. Now I’m a regular watcher I get to see these changes happen in real time.
Love the plans!!!!! It’s so exciting that you are making it your own. How refreshing to remove so much dead/dying/disease things to make way for so much more beautiful!!!!!
So cute , It was like Russell jumped out on queen ! Laura you look AMAZING !!! CONGRATULATIONS and God bless you and your family- tfs
You two just make me smile and feel good🥰
You are so blessed to have the money and plenty of time to build your dream landscape and update it whenever you you decide to. Being a senior and health wise limited and low income justs makes me look forward to heaven so I will live in a beautiful place too!
Wow!!!! Your vision around the Hartley looks incredible 😍
The formal garden you drew reminds me of your garden at your old house with the 4 trees in the corners. Ahh I’m so excited to see it all!
Didn’t even notice that there was any sort of lack of kindness at all. Really surprised that you had any issues. Very kind of you to edit, but keep doing you. Lots of exciting content here and I know I will keep watching like I have for the past few years! 😉
You both are amazing with your new plans! You and your whole family give so much to your community.
I’m like Aaron when it comes to a blank slate. I get more stressed trying to do things slowly then just rip it all out and then put it back the way you want it. I am excited about what is to come. I know it will be fabulous!
Don’t apologize for sharing how you felt and how you planned to remediate with your neighbors and find a solution! I know both you and Aaron have expressed how you always inform your neighbors of big changes and discuss any plans that may impact their surroundings. You sharing your situation helped give me the courage to discuss plans to enhance my backyard with our duplex neighbor! :)
I appreciate your honesty about how you have developed your garden and realized that some things just aren't meant for your climate, area, etc. I also appreciate how you have included other gardeners in your CZcams channel from other areas and climates. I live in West Virginia and we are definitely not in the same climate, growing area as you in Oregon. It is exciting to see you transform your space, we can all still learn from your projects. Please keep including other gardeners from other areas as we may learn from them and possibly apply to our gardens. You are the best!
Thank you for the explanation Laura. Your plans look great. Can’t wait to watch it unfold!
LOVE this video- seeing the evolution of a large space! It's fun to see how you two work together, your enthusiasms for your property. Love you guys!
I got a really good and happy boost from your words, plans and projects. Thanks!!!
I love seeing all of the exciting changes to your lovely property. It is wonderful that you encourage people to try new things. I have learned so much from you since finding your channel last spring. With encouragement from you, I finally took out some sad old shrubs and trees, and I am so glad I did. I planted some amazing new shrubs and perennials that you recommended. I can't wait to see them mature and fill in. I have many more plans, all inspired by you and Aaron. Thank you for all you do. God bless your beautiful family.
This was so beautifully written and exactly how I feel, to!
I went through a giant declutter in my house AND garden this year. After 18 years of building my small garden, I decided I only have room for the plants I love. Luckily, a friend at garden club had a lot of room in their large garden and took them all.
So excited to see the yard open up. Love the fresh new feeling...your new trees will give you a better joyful feeling.
I’m getting anxiety just listening to you say “this is going, and that is gone”. Ahhh! 😂 You are so calm and confident in your decision to remove things. And you are moving and getting rid of a LOT! 😳 I’ll trust your vision. I know it will be beautiful when you are finished.
Love seeing all the fun in the works plans. You take it so much better in stride then I would, I just have no vision. Great drone work too.
I have been living in a construction zone for five years now. It’s encouraging to see someone else who loves plants going through the process. Nothing happens magically... thank you.
Wow, what transformation. Such joy in planning and then making the changes you both want. Gardens evolve and change, they do not remain stagnant, and therein lies their joy!
You are both working to make your dreams come true and I am thankful to be a spectator. Keep doing what you love!
We love and support you Laura! Thanks for all the joy and knowledge you share with us. You and your family make the world a more beautiful place! God bless!
Keep doing what makes you happy! We are all enjoying watching you and your family on your life journey!
I saw both videos and frankly, saw nothing wrong with what you said or how you handled it. In fact, I would tell you that I’m proud of you for how you handled your concerns. You are young but wise and by approaching someone with sincerity along with possible solutions is an excellent lesson for all of us to practice in our own lives. So many people are unwilling to have crucial conversations and instead carry around sadness and/or anger. Or they choose to talk behind the other persons back either with others or on social media. I know it had to be VERY difficult for you to go to them, especially with having given birth just days ago. Your parents, your family and your husband must be so proud of you and all you have become. And, I’m sure that your neighbors were not offended at all. Instead they are probably glad that you told them your concerns.
We could take a lesson from her. Instead some had to waste their time criticizing her.
@@maynardgreenhouse as they should!! Way for Laura to show her entitlement!
@@New.phone.who.dis1286 Honey, relax, take a deep breath......and get over it. This is not your issue.
@@donnademkodonnascreativeco432 no it's not but I have opinions, just as everyone else does.
@@New.phone.who.dis1286 Opinions and rudeness are two very different things. Hopefully, someday you will learn that well-versed opinions may be taken into consideration however, nobody thinks very highly of a rude person.
I just love watching the magic you perform and the plans you and Aaron have for your home and gardens. It is always spectacular.
Tyfs your ideas.
I didn’t see the negative comments, but can understand your dismay when they occurred. I thought you mentioning the negotiations between you and your neighbor was very helpful. I have two nearby neighbors who have been in an adjoining fence dispute for almost 15 years which I believe could have resolved had they talked day one. You are showing how neighbors should be...I’m sure your neighbors were probably just putting it where they could access it best and have it out of their way, without being conscious how it would look from your property. I’m sure you are fantastic neighbors and this will be resolved to everyone’s satisfaction. Don’t fret.
When it is all said and done. After all it is still yours to do with as you wish. We all know it will be gorgeous when it is finished.
I also would fine this helpful. I didn’t see the original video though! I am sure there’s no way to share what happened without infringing on their privacy though. My parents recently bought a second home near me that I am helping them manage, and my sister and I each have a dedicated work space in the garage/studio in the backyard of that property. We have gotten to know the neighbors on all sides (either side and back) fairly well so far, better than any neighbors I’ve ever had in my life, really! So far they have all been delightful and we have worked together well. Our houses were probably all built at the same time, over 100 years ago, and originally sat on 3 lots that were subdivided up weird; we even share a garage structure and driveway with one of them, like many of the 100 year old houses in our historic urban neighborhood. The rear neighbors have an avocado tree to match ours in their back yard, and both trees are massive (ours is older than the houses for sure, and theirs is probably a child tree of ours), so we are getting them majorly serviced at the same time at the end of February and splitting the bill. It’s our first avocado tree (my parents’ main residence is juuuust too cool for citrus/avos) and I was so excited but nervous to care for such a special tree, so I found a local arborist and was so delighted to have his advice. I am thankful the neighbors are just as enthusiastic about it!
Why should they be conscious of how it looks from her property?! It's not their problem. They shouldn't have to cater to her.
@@New.phone.who.dis1286 I didn’t say they should.
These changes are so exciting. I’m so excited to see all this come together.
Love watching this twice. You home, so I can understand how you feel. It will be awesome once it is completed.
I’m so happy your creating “ your own” garden. That’s what’s important you need to feel happy and comfortable at home. Can’t wait to watch how it all comes together. Happy gardening/ landscaping. 👩🏻🌾

Amazing difference when “things” are removed/added.i had always loved the little tool shed where it was....then with no pine trees around, it was no longer “cute” sitting there. Perspectives change with growth, moving and everyday life. What an exciting time ahead for you. Also ,baby harmonies or not, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the first version of this video. You and Aaron are such fantastic people that you make some decisions based on the “good” of all. Love you, take care, be safe, dream about all the positive changes.
No worries, your kind heart always shows through.

I love this channel, please don’t change, you are amazing! I have always wanted a yard with beautiful things but never had the confidence to try.
We removed old trees in the fall of 2018 & 2019. I cried with one, but have made 5 new gardens since. A clean new slate in the yard and starting new was the most exciting thing I ever did. Great video you guys. I'm looking forward to planting more in my new gardens this year and also seeing yours.
I'm really excited about the changes to your property. It will be inspiring and fun to watch you work through it all. You have encouraged me to take some bold steps on my own property the last year or so that have made me love my yard even more!
I so appreciate everything you do in your garden. I won't ever judge your decisions because every decision you make whether big or small teaches me and so many others what not to do. Love you guys and keep teaching us so we can grow with you. ❤
I loved this video and seeing all your future plans. It’s going to look so beautiful! It was amazing seeing the process at the end of how the workers were able to take the trees down and they were so careful with the surrounding areas.

Great video as always Laura and Aaron! I'm looking forward to all the changes! On a side note, thank you for re-editing and reuploading the video sans the comments about the RV.
