    Cheers Mat.
    One issue I find with the ever-changing infotainment systems these days (mainly the big 3 Germans) is their range is so large that there's always a crossover point between old and new. Meaning some models have the latest dash and screen etc, yet some are still on previous gen. The X3 highlighting this perfectly compared to the the 3, 4, 6 series etc.

    I think that the x3 is the best allrounder. Although the ride is too firm, but that will change when fitted with normal rubber. The m-sport models look a bit strange, but the xline trim is better looking, especially in black and tan with 19inch wheels ;). Reliability info is quite suprising, since we have had one for nearly two years now, done about 50k kms. And it hasn't skipped a beat. We used to have a glk 250 cdi and my god how small, noisy(engine) and old fashioned(gearbox, steering) it felt after the x3 testdrive. I do hope that Merc has done something about it, and also the fact that rear sill got really dirty and it was impossible to get inside without dirty pants.

    Am on my second x3 and it is great. Interior build quality really is top notch. Mine has normal suspension and the ride is very smooth with standard tyres. Once you have used the brilliant BMW idrive infotainment system (opt for the professional one) the systems in most other brands seem clunky.

    Too easy with the with the parcel shelf, actualy a thing I like in every BMW I owned, it can be installed so that you can either separate the booth from the passengers, if you brake real hard, Things won't be flying all over the place. The 2nd way is to install it right behind the first row of seats once your 2nd row has been reclined. Above the rear passengers seats there are is a cover under which you can find a curved slot, ever wondered what those holes were good for? That's where you hook the upper part of the net. in the reversed 2nd seat row you can slide in the lower part of the parcel shelf. Amazing that you haven't figured that out, I first used this system in my E46 Touring in 1999 - eversince I loved it. You find this sistem in all tourings and X's modells.

      I bought the M-Sport 2.0D in 2016, and there is nothing wrong with the interior, even though the new one is out. Unfortunately mine wasn't specced with Sat-Nav. As for the adaptive dampners, I don't think mine has it, and it really doesn't bother me at all. Car handles superbly well. Realised this yesterday when I want speeding around a bend which I never speed around....

    In recent times the lack of seat release levers in the boot are really often remarked as an issue. But really, how often does anyone fold the rear seats? If it is a small car and you need it often, then you can reach for the seats. In a bigger car, do you really fold them every day, month? I used it once in two years.

    I have seen you being biased towards merc for some reason. I drove GLC and X3. IMO, X3 is more practical, premium and surprisingly less tacky. Discovery and Q5 are bulky, with auto transmission lags, more towards SUV than crossover. While GLC is better, it is at least USD 10 grand more than BMW (mainly because of no default maintenance). You would always find black X3 with MSport dull.
    Try Black with XLine or White MSport - with lighting package.

    • @KevinELLL
      @KevinELLL Před 8 lety

      Boyan Marinov Simple - journalistic investigations / coverage of insider stories into car brands and their general reliability based on their current line-ups, engines, electronics, etc. You learn through history - often the issues of previous models will carry over into newer models. Like we KNOW Lexus cars last and last, and we know Range Rovers don't. What I'd like to see are details of those; the how's, why's and warnings of which cars have had a good track record, and which haven't (if applicable).

    • @carwow
      @carwow  Před 8 lety +5

      +Pilo17contreras honestly mate: buy it if you like it, but make sure you get a good price. Thing is I drive all the new cars so can compare them to one another and frankly the MiTo is well behind rivals. But if you like the look of the car and the brand, and are coming from an old car you will happy with the MiTo. Just don't drive any rivals and you won't know what you are missing. I'm not being sarcastic either. Lots of people pay big money for classic cars and the reality is they mainly suck to drive. But they have personality. And as Samuel L Jackson once said - personality goes a long way...

    Which would you pick between this and the Subaru Outback?

    • @BombayBerke
      @BombayBerke Před 7 lety

      The Outback. It's better made, more reliable, less complicated, and the image associated with typical owners is more appealing to me with the Subaru.

    How about comparison between the new Tiguan and BMW x3?

    Think I'll wait for the new Tiguan review, that's definitely more desirable, I prefer the previous X3 model.

      Paul Darby vw Tiguan is a crappy jacked up vw golf this MK2 X3 is awesome proper sporty SUV feels like a sports saloon not a crappy hatchback jacked up to look like a SUV I drove a R-line in Spain it was so shitty when compared to my 2016 BM X3 so please don’t fooled by their looks as NOT German cars are the same!

      @@pauldarby8398 well mate go for a post facelift LCI car with the B47 x20 or B57 x30 engines my back would prefer the SE or xline softer suspension then rock hard msport car but make sure the car has had or going to have EGR recall done at the dealership and keep away from them for everything else but get gearbox, transfer box and both differential oil changed by brilliant specialist lots about then no worries tbh take it wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 for the mountain 🏔 roads will put smile in your face I am sure or you can be boring olde fart and go for the clockwork reliable Lexus SUVs 🚙lolz

      A Audi A3 has a much nicer interior, much more quality and it has been proven in quality tests, Audi cars are just much better quality

    • @wakiwest
      @wakiwest Před 8 lety +1

      +Chatta290 Audi interiors are high quality yes but they are rather boring, Mercedes have relaxed interiors with a bit of class and BMWs interiors have more of a driver focus

      wakiwest i hate the bmws one i find it looks cheap and the mercedes is very minimalistic I'm referring to the s class the audi has more buttons which are always better to sue then the stupid touch screen climate control displays but the bmws has the best multimedia navigational system closely followed by Audi
