    SUVs are fast becoming to define motoring this decade. They're massively popular and their appeal is not hard to understand: they're good to drive, practical, stylish and little more expensive to buy and run than a saloon or estate. Here we've picked four of the best mid-sized upmarket SUVs on sale, and put them through their paces. While we've ordered them, the truth is that they're all exceptional vehicles and you'll be very happy with any of them.

    I agree with there reviews actually. I just turned in the land rover discovery sport off a lease and got put in a jaguar f pace. The handling on the road and interior are a notch better. In the winter will be the true test when we get snow, the land rover drove through everything I want to see how the jaguar makes out.

    A good balanced review. I personally think it's GOOD that each car (along with others not reviewed here - XC60, Q5) all have their place and are slightly different to each other. Comfort, sport, off road ability, image, practicality etc.. each one excels at some but not all. My choice is still currently xc60 and the new one should be excellent.

    Really useful as making this decison currently. I've had to go with the 3.0 v6 diesel F Pace. I test drove the 2.0 (which is the same engine as all the smaller landrovers) and for me it needed a bit more power.

    Carbuyer please stop promoting british car manufacturers... the jag is not a car to compare with a merc a bmw or a land rover, because with a british point of view especially it humiliates the other cars because of that sporty way of driving and slick and expensive look, and dont get me wrong but with all those expensive options it will have a higher price tag. For instance compare it's petrol power engine version with a porsche macan or a maserati levante, that would have been more interesting, and fare as the jaguar is promoted as a sporty suv. Also, a better video is comparing x3 glc the new q5 the disc sport the evoque or the nx because they are not cars that are all about rapidly fast engines sport driving position and etc but, they show how practical they are, how comfortable and convienient they are for families, how economic they are and even their off-road capabilities. For me this video is pointless because having said that the jag is more expensive, it has the worst interior and it's really ugly from the back. Did the fancy plastics and the stupid standard infortaiment system of the jag made you more excited than the gorgeous glc's interior or the perfect bmw's system? Also, who the hell who ownes a jaguar will go off road, as the land rover is a thousand steps far away in off-roading. You can't avoid that the germans are the best in the business as they nailed the mid size, very good overall suv game, beacause of their great driving experience in town or highway(like the x3), stylish exterior or interior(like the glc) and their practicallity. And for me the true and honest ranking for the video without including the f pace is: 1.GLC 2.X3 3.Discovery Sport. I haven't said that the f pace is not a good car, actually is a great sporty fast suv in my opinion. But with making this video you brought it at another car category which makes it not as shine and special, and the main purpose of the video is getting lost. I can tell that you must take few lessons from Matt Watson at carwow....

  • @steeple001
    @steeple001 Před 7 lety +5

    Great Review and I would say pretty accurate. My wife has the X3 35m diesel at the moment and it's been a fantastic car. Test drove the GLC recently and with the smaller engine it was way to underpowered and felt like a boat. We also looked at the bigger engined F pace and its great a huge amount of fun but as another comment states feels much more "plasticky". We have had a Range Rover sport before and it's unreliability has put us off Land Rover forever. In the end the winner for the new family car was the Porsche Macaan, yes its way more expensive and there is the excessive price tag you pay for Badge but it was absolutely wonderful in just about every respect. One thing which was a pain was all the buttons but other than that it wasn't possible to fault the car and the smile you get when you drive the thing makes the eye watering price tag worth while for us.

    Land Rover is best;
    Best looking, most customisable, and the best off road. After all, a 4x4's intentions are to be able to be good at off roading, rather than a 'false' off roader. Maybe I'm biased because I have bought into the Land Rover brand multiple times before, but you can look at it like this " next time there is a blizzard/ flood ect outside the supermarket, do you want to look like a div or not?

    • @dummy3646

      TCKZ Crew I love SUVs that are real 4X4s, but the kind of people that buy these vehicles are not interested in driving up a mountain or carving through dense forest. While a Land Rover has legendary off road capability, the majority of users won't use it. After all, would you take £40000 with you into the mud?

      The video would go on forever if they included every competitor.

    • @aysbg
      @aysbg Před 7 lety

      It would but they included quite old X3 instead of new Q5. X3 is due for replacement in 2017.

    • @MrTrull1
      @MrTrull1 Před 7 lety

      aysbg This is a UK video & James has said elsewhere that the new Q5 isn't available yet in the UK.

    • @aysbg
      @aysbg Před 7 lety

      MrTrull1 Fair point but could have waited to include another proper competitor into comparison. All models, except for X3, are about 1 year old.

    • @MrTrull1
      @MrTrull1 Před 7 lety

      aysbg I don't think the solution is to just not do the video. These cars are just as test worthy as any others & the world does not revolve around Audi. Perhaps they should have just cut out the X3 from the test altogether - imagine the protest. It was included because they still consider it one of the best choices. Basically, they cannot win whatever they do.

    What about Porsche Cayenne or Audi Q7 or Ford Edge or Volvo XC90

    • @dummy3646
      @dummy3646 Před 7 lety

      Jack George All those are too large to be compared to these. The XC90 and Q7 are 7 - seaters, and while the Edge and Cayenne are not, they are big enough to be. The Discovery Sport's third row seating is too small for anyone taller than 5 feet, so the extra seats aren't worth it.

    The F pace sucks ass, test drove it last week and to be honest I wasn't impressed one bit. Furthermore, the navigation lags like a MoFo. For the money go for the Benz or BMW.

      +Pure Cancer ikr I mean this will most probably be driven by medium-high class families who want a good badge, practicality, build quality, comfort and nice features. it is not like a convertible that has to have cool design. besides personally i like its design i mean it looks neat and aggressive.
