- International Management in career mode is slowly getting worse. In FC24, it’s at the lowest point I think it’s ever been at. After the FIFA split, the world cup is now unlicensed, there aren’t even enough teams to fill it. That's right, the 48 team tournament in 2026 plays out with 24 teams in 6 groups of 4.
You want to know why? Well its because EA has reduced the amount of national teams from 51 in FIFA 18, to just 32 in FC24. This means there are no qualifications outside of Europe and no chance of a surprise World Cup win for AI controlled Bolivia. It’s a bit of a disgrace.
When I went back to play the 2010 World Cup game, one of the coolest things was the ability to play the qualifiers with any team. I don’t think that EA should add every single nation in the world, like we had in that game, but there's teams that could easily be added. Gambia have 35 players, Bosnia has 62, Greece has 88 and Chile has 179, but none of these are playable. Instead, an unlicensed Qatar are with just 28 players. It makes no sense!

Even so, there is nothing stopping EA from obtaining a license with the CBF and placing a team with players already licensed in the game, as 90% of the players are on European teams.

International Management, Player Career, Manager Career, they've killed everything. Can't make money off them so why bother.
Well... I still believe that EA removing unlicensed national teams was the worst thing possible in history of national management. We want all national teams to be in the game, even if they are unlicensed. It doesn't matter. Having over 150 national team with custom crest and kits, would be much better than having less than 30 national teams who are licensed, and incomplet gameplay experience.

i'd say player career is most affected by the lack of international teams, really takes the fun out of creating an asian or african player

It's more like they think it isn't as popular as all the European Club Leagues so they just don't want to spend money on licensing for it. But basically still the same as what you said. lol.
Solution is easy. Add every nation unlicensed like pes used to do. So many nations already have the players in the game then just add generic players to fill the gaps
The fact we can’t get a full World Cup, afcon, nations league or copa America is a disgrace. EA could solve this easily yet waste time on pointless features like transfer analyst, player agent, player personality ect
There are even so many nations who already have enough players for a team, for the start I would be totally happy to have at least them unlicensed in the Game (Japan, South Korea, Nigeria, Senegal, Uruguay, Columbia). And they could of course add smaller nations by filling up with generic players, but I think we wont even get the „bigger nations“ ….

I think we should not get light on EA with criticism, they deserve it. They can make a 1000× better game in all aspects but get greedy and decide reskining is gonna sell anyways so why invest anything.
If they wanted they wouldve added every national team licensed and at least double the amount of leagues and teams licensed, and they maybe will earn from it as the gap would be higher, maybe they would even sell the game for more, but at least itll be cooked to perfection

I'm currently replaying FIFA 18 with a Crystal Palace career mode and got the BOLIVIA job with unlicensed kits and a poor squad, but I still love every match I play with them. The idea of taking a lower nation to glory should not have been removed from this game.
I still hop on Earlier Fifa's and rebuild national teams with Youth Rebuilds and It's still some of the most fun I have on the game. Shame that Fifa is just dying out now as I've never liked playing ultimate team.

Career mode in general for me is an absolute slog. It used to be so fun for me to go through simulations but now, it is an absolute nightmare. Players decide that they want to quit the club so quickly even when a team is doing well and is pushing above their weight. I remember how frustrated I was when I had to get someone to leave because they wanted to, bought a player to replace them and then that player wants to leave as well. I used to have so much fun with career mod back in the Fifa 20-21 days and now I don't even want to touch that mode anymore.
As a greek i am sad we have so many players in the game but we cant play with our nation i really hope FIFA makes a game and adds way more countries than last year

if you have fifa23 on pc, there's a mod called european expansion pack that has the greek super league with real teams, kits and players. It also has a lot more national teams than vanilla
EA's ass-backwards approach to almost everything that isn't Ultimate Team strikes again.
What annoys me even more about it is the friendly matches. They were already kinda stretching it, especially in the middle of the season with no prize. But doing them every once in a while when the world cup & euros are both already so limited, just diminishes the international match feeling.
nah you guys got it wrong. the reason why they removed these international teams is so that they can "re-add it" in a future EAFC title as a "new feature" when they ran out of things to say besides "we are releasing a new game to reset FUT so we can earn $ again"

this is why ive been creating my own world cups since i can remember
i used to do the best 64 teams possible (all/most of the licensed teams + makeable teams such as nigeria where i can transfer all nigerian players to the same club and enter them into the created tourney) and just play the tourney out with every team but this uear i went one further bc i hate the new career mode 😢
i created qualifying for each continent using 122 national teams (every nation with at least 5 players (at launch)), with players from the nation as well as undeclared players with dual nationality (like wan-bissaka for dr congo). it looked like this
europe 48 teams including malta luxembourg and cyprus(8 groups of 6)
south am all 10 teams (1 group of 10)
north am 15 teams including haiti, barbados and suriname (3 groups of 5)
asia 13 teams including syria philippines and uzbekistan , with new zealand added as well (2 groups of 7)
africa 35 teams including mozambique, sierra leone and mauritania (5 groups of 7)
after playing each of the qualifying groups, the top ranking teams then qualified for a 64 team world cup as follows
eu 30 teams
south am 7 teams
north am 6 teams
asia 6 teams
africa 15 teams
it has been way more fun than career mode, well worth all the wditing time, and im currently making my way through the 64 team finals - maybe ill come back and let you guys know who won the finals!

You may think those dont look the most balanced, but they are all based off the qualifying positions for the seeding into each group (these arent necessarily in seeding order, just the order i entered them for randomness (otherwise the best teams all play each other in the same matchweek)). This gives you realistic groups of death, and some easier groups.

I like international football in video games but I've hated the recent EA games with hardly any international teams. The 2010 World Cup game and 2014 World Cup game were both great.
It was so much fun in 2010 being able to choose any country, using your own player and qualify for the World Cup. They even added all the official names from countries like Sri Lanka
The graphics continue to get better, as the games themselves get much, much worse.

Yeah, they've maxed out the engines they're using. When they perfect VR it will be impossible not to be immersed. But the game itself? Yeeeeeah, it's gonna be pretty terrible and it will definitely be pay-to-win
2k needs to take their time and make an epic 2026 World Cup game with all the licenses, such a shame EA threw those games to the side due to FUT.

I was highly disappointed to find that canada was not available considering they had just qualified recently. They definitely have a really young up-and-coming squad that should be exciting for the next few years to come

This is why I dropped FC24 and playing 22 instead. It may be not the best FIFA, but at least I enjoy it more overall. EA's Game is an awful experience.

Honestly, career mode plays so bad this year. Legendary AI only run to the byline and cutback. It’s a bunch of crap. EA only care about improving FUT, that’s it. Destroying the game.

@@Cc21144Exactly. They never mess up a pass. League 2 teams in England are popping it around like prime Brazil, and make 20 passes in the box before scoring, it is ridiculous. I’ve tried sliders to make it better but it’s still so unrealistic and plays horribly

FIFA Manager 14 with 24 mod actually haves all national competitions. If you want to manage national teams, it's the best way to do so.
There's no point. EA will never respect career mode. People were making videos about it in 2010, saying "hopefully, they'll improve in the future". They never did.

I wonder why they are withdrawing international football from FIFA. Whenever I play multiplayer with a random person who is not into these games, they pick the national teams. I'm always curious about what club such a person will choose, and meanwhile they go straight for Brazil.

I think the most difficult part to rebuild a national team is to get the national team offer that I want.
where did you find the list of fifa ratings for the 1950's Hungary team?
Idk if its still a thing in EA FC but one of the more annoying things from the previous game was also that after 10 seasons of managing Hungary the youth players and regens all fell under 5 last names (Papp, Kiss, Simon, Elek, Varga), this was not only confusing but disappointing, it takes the distintiveness away from the players instead it feels like Im just taking from 5 very large extended families. It would be far more immersive if they just randomised from the existing player name base like they did pre fifa 23.
Edit: Additionally when will we ever get an option to apply for national teams...one of my friends uses an Austrian manager, but they are never offered the Austrian job (playing in Fifa 20, 23).
The most flabbergasting thing about this is that the guy in the thumbnail was SO MAD that he refunded with more than 2 hours of gameplay

As a Canadian Manager Career Mode player I would have loved the opportunity to receive an offer to manage the Canadian national team but sadly FC24 has completely taken away that opportunity since Canada’s national team isn’t in the game 😪 this game was such a waste of money

I make my own Tournaments, with Clubs now instead of playing career mode. I have some of the most interesting majors Tournaments of Darts (PDC) and instead of the Players I took different clubs into it to Battle it out. FC Liverpool became World Champions and Atletico won both the Masters and the Premiere League of "Darts". UK Open coming up within the next days
What I don’t understand is that Ea will have the euro tournament in the summer. Why can’t they add all the teams that play in the Euros to the base game? It can’t be for money because that is a free dlc.

1. Ea doesn't want to keep licensing I remember world cup 2014 and 2010 they had almost all teams
And 2. Konami Capitalises from EAs mistake to not licensing national leagues they took euro 2 years ago and have some licensing with more countries also

Honestly can’t wait for some new football games to come out, FUT has become such a money grabbing grind that has lost the fun. I always end up playing career mode by the end and they just don’t care about it. The minute a good career mode alternative comes out, RIP EAFC

It does make sense for Qatar to be there as a nation. When the game came out, they were the reigning Asian Cup champions and since have successfully defended the Asian Cup. That's not even taking into account the fact that they hosted the World Cup finals. So yes, it does make perfect sense why they are there
The INTERNATIONAL game is the pinnacle of Football. It always has been and always will be. It does my head in year after year that EA hasn't expanded both Manager Career Mode and International Management. Every year I feel short changed when I realise Career Mode is the same and that there are hardly any International Teams or Competitions to take part in. There is SO much opportunity for EA FC to expand. The motto 'It's in the Game' has been an absolute embarrassment for years now, and disrespectful to those of us who have played FIFA for years (long before FUT). There are 6 out of the 7 Continents in the World that deserve to be represented in FIFA (Antarctica being the 7th - I assume they don't have a team haha). With all this talk of The World Game and Equality... there MUST be a rebuild and expansion of Manager Career Mode and International Football in EAFC. I'm done with the excuses about Licences. They have enough money to pay. I'm an Aussie, but I have to say that seeing how Africa has been neglected in FIFA/EAFC over the years has been a disgrace. They should easily have 10-16 African Nations and include the AFCON every year. Each player that purchases this game should feel like they can start as a Manager in the lower leagues, and work their way up to getting contract offers and approaching other clubs via an Agent, while also earning International Contract Offers over time that coincide with success. That success being relative of course to what Country you are from. For example, if I'm an Aussie Manager, despite being lower rated in League Two, if Arnie gets fired and Ange doesn't want the job because he's busy at Spurs, I might still get offered international management. But if I'm English, I might need to be winning the Premier League first. So many ideas. EAFC needs to get a move on with this. Please keep posting about Career Mode, you do some great work to promote Career Mode. I'm hoping those who make the decisions at EA will start listening and do the right thing by their long serving/suffering Career Mode fans. Cheers mate
They ignored single player/career mode for years and every new release is less enjoyable for those who dont want to play ultimate team... I recommend everyone to just play older FIFAs with mods. It's honestly the most fun I've ever had with this franchise, since it went downhill around 2017 or so..
I managed Croatia through three years of friendlies. Then the 2026 World Cup came around and they weren't even qualified!

The world desires a REAL career mode to bring us back. Career mode on FC24 just ain’t it.
One thing I hate is you can’t call up players like I can manage croatia 🇭🇷 but they only give me like 20 players

Idea EA should do: Only add nations that have 50 or more players in the game by the licensed leagues.
So no more qatar cause last time i check they have zero. It makes it much more fairier and ensures game can keep up with retirements.
(Unfortunately EA will just make it 16 teams next year anyway)
The mode as it is, is very bare bones. I think EA need to have an entire game mode dedicated to being an International Manager, from scouting and developing new and existing talent, to EVERY International tournament. And CHOOSE the country instead of waiting for an offer. As it is now, it's just something that's kinda... there.

If they are too lazy to add any more national teams, at least create another tournament where the 7 available countries outside of Europe are able to play. Call it the “Transcontinental cup” and have it set up like “Euro qualifiers”and put them into one group at the end of the season the top 4 national teams with the most points play for a semi final and a final. Otherwise waiting every 4 years for the World Cup to come around is boring..

all 211 fifa teams + the 10ish confederational teams should be added. That would be my non negotiable
A they can make a trophy look as close as the real fifa world cup one. and B even if they don't have the rights to do the team they do have the players and can make there own international teams

To me EA is simply stupid, i get they can’t make money like they do with FUT but one of the biggest reasons in recent years that people got PES instead of FIFA was because PES had so many customization options and had basically most international teams even if they were generic, i don’t get why EA FC just doesn’t do that, why give us less now, they’d have more people wanting to buy the game because those modes also bring in consumers

It's an Elo rating, not an E.L.O. rating, named after its creator, the (ironically Hungarian) physicist Arpad Elo.
If they could give every nation w/ enough players for a national team squad a team, even if unlicensed, that would be amazing, and making it so you can scout those countries for YA players too. We have generic clubs w/ the squads of Italian teams they lost the licence to, so why can't they do the same w/ national teams?

Does anyone know any good mods for Pc in which you can add every (or just more) national teams for career mode?
There's a couple of excellent overhaul mods that add all licensing you can ever imagine from full club kits, stadiums, player photos etc but they're paid and even worse it's a subscription

I only use international jobs now as the easy way of scouting young players for the nation my club is in, otherwise its completely pointless
Simply play World soccer champs in mobile, with a budget around 1000000x less than EA they make international management very good

Let's face it. FIFA has been bad for years now. Career mode hasn't been good for years either and international management was always the most bare bones of career mode's options.
