Fixing Your Bad Tactics (with Tom)

- In honor of Tom going full time - we hopped on Reddit and decided to help people that were asking for Tactic help! We have a combined three streamer showdown titles and have a lot of experience playing Football Manager at a high level. I will be sure to link my FM resume below to justify me doing this. Tom just has great vibes so you probably don’t need his resume, but if you want his links to great FM videos I will provide those below as well.
I wanted this tactic saving process to be anonymous. I feel like if I ask for these sorts of Football Manager videos I can get innundated with people that just want to be in a video. Don’t get me wrong, that’s really cool, but these people posted on Reddit specifically asking for help and I just brought Tom around to help them out. Who doesn’t want to have fun breaking down Tactics on FM? It’s certainly more fun then using them in a match only to get FM’d anyways.

Alright, pinching that idea of putting the training rating in the starting lineup. Never considered that before. Looks like you both had a blast. It would be cool to see more collaborations between the two of you in the future.
I used force opponents inside when both of my best CD were terrible at heading and they were scored on 1-2 headers from open play per game. The force opponents inside stopped that almost entirely.
I sometimes force inside when I only have 1 player in the wide areas.
Yes thats what it means. If you force outside they will cross more when inside they won't be able to cross
@@leonemitchell1816the in-game description says something else. The assman kept screaming at me every game that we get scored on from the centre of the pitch. It said something like "this instruction is only good if the center is good". It's actually the opposite in my opinion
@@pascal6871 yeah the in game description are wrong for 90% of the instructions. What you expect them todo and what it says is different from what actually happens

Linked to what Tom said about training rating - on the tactics screen if you minimize the tactic with the double-left arrow in the top left corner, you get more information about your lineup. That includes a picture of each individual player's tactical familiarity in the system as well as their recent workload. I've found this super helpful recently to get an idea of where things might be falling down from an individual player understanding perspective.

The last one can absolutely work with other dm roles. A regista and a segundo volante would do it. Lines are tough though
I'd be tempted to just bring the wingers back and that would effectively give two banks of four. And then for playing out, you've got players closer to your defensive unit that can carry it to the guys up top
@@Josh-cm9jw I was thinking just bring the SS back to a CM-At, in front of a DM-De, DLP-Su, then put the winger on the DM-De side on support (and maybe WB-At on that side as well).

Force inside of something I tend to try during matches if my defenders are overmatched by larger opponent strikers and their strategy is getting down to the byline and cross from there especially if I’m playing with 3 cm or cb (or even a 5-3-2)
All i read is that you wanna "force inside of something", and that you have "3cm".

i found a tactic that helped me win the league on the 3rd attempt. high up field press (off side trap) with a 433 formation. Until the AI caught on i was getting 8-0s and 9-0s with a second rate striker who ended up top goal scorer. Switch between that and the 4231.

I was struggling with 4-2-3-1 but now I'm the master of it beating man city 6-2 , my backs are in complete wing backs on attack one of my center defend are in central defend cover and the other is in ball playing defend my midfielder one is box box support and the other is in deep laying playmaker defend my attacking midfield is in attacking midfield support and my wingers are in inverted wingers attack my forward is an advance forward also my goalkeeper is in sweeper support and during preseason ensure your training are high so as the players can have a high tactical familiarity at a high level I'm using Newcastle united and the other thing find most suitable players especially in the middle field and the center back with a good speed and passing and your team should have a good work rate every player should start with 13 points of work rate when signing and a good team work because you need good patterns of good play so as the team cohesion goes high which will increase chances for the AI to fevour you to win most of games and buy players from team which play the same system in their club which were playing earlier this will make them to understand the tactics fast even if it is small but isn't a must, for example I bought some of the players from ajax which had been trained to play a high press and a high defensive line
i have this problem when i go to sporets interactice there are no folders and my game keeps crashing saying do u have the latest drivers but i have and unable to create crash dump directory
Hi, he’s a video idea. how do you actually go about implementing your tactic on a new team if the team you are starting with don’t have the personnel to play how you want them too.

I love Guardiola football, as do most. So I wanted to create a tactic in which my players make a lot of third man runs. I tried to add more depth passes. But that didn't help a thing. Hopefully you have a good method for this.

The Arsenal 433 could be successful without a single player on attack. Wingbacks on support, DM on support, inside forwards on support would work in that setup with the Arsenal players.
Hey, everyone! The thing is i know nothing about real football tactics etc 4-4-2, 4-2-3-1, 4-4-3. Which one is defending and which attacking. I dont even watch football that much, but i really do enjoy the game. I want to create working tactic but i feel like my lack of knowledge is the factor i cant do it. So where should i look?
That first tactic, I would swap the BWM for a DLP, and the AP for an SS.

I don’t know why they’re acting like asymmetric formations are great, they’re literally pointless as that is the defensive shape only! The roles are the offensive so that formation would have been no different with the CF up top with the AF and the T out wide in a normal 4222

Can someone tell me the origin of "el partido controversial" that these two always refer to when they play in the Showdown?
Basically they meet relatively often in the Showdown and there's always something that happens so that they never have a normal match. I don't know the exact examples but stuff like red cards and just in general added drama

I generally don't like these "rate my tactic" videos , because I never see anybody ACTUALLY TRYING OUT THE TACTIC.
I don't think using conventional wisdom alone is enough to evaluate tactics.
That's why Daljit (bust the net gaming) is the best in the community for tactics. He does a bring your tactic stream which I think is a really original idea

OMG you guys would love my 3-1-3-1-2 system with nobody playing wide that won me the title with RB Salzburg. It's madness.
to be fair, few systems would fail to win the league with rb salzburg. try the same system with a team like wacker, see if it holds up. best of luck

It absolute can be…but paired behind 2 IW on support? Not so much
Here goes..... (1) Wide defenders play best for me on Auto, then their play adjusts as I adjust overall Team Mentality throughout the match.
(2) An approach that's worked for me is wide defenders on Attack (or on Auto with team Mentality as Attacking) but coupled with a CDM as Deep Playmaker or Register. This can create a pattern of play where the opposition just can't get out - if they win back the ball they pump it out long and the DLP or Regista has choices about how to immediately resume the attack.
Just saying. Not fighting, just playing really.
