“Welcome back for more tech news from Techlinked. Riley couldn’t be here today, because someone from Seasonic came over to test his loyalty. He passed, and will be out of the hospital next week.”
Find somebody who loves you as much as Linus Media Group loves its sponsors.
Then just remember not to mess it up by uploading videos of them to the cloud (unencrypted) and lying about it. Not talking about Eufy, I'm just saying that's sleazy (and illegal in many states) regardless.

Seriously. I was planning all through 2022 to finally build a new rig to replace my poor Ryzen 2200g rig I built in 2018 and now I'm honestly just sticking with my XSX, it's good enough for $500 compared to what I'd be paying for a GPU alone...
I can't and I need to buy some now since I just broke my laptop
@@nonfungiblemushroom I built a 2200g system in 2018 too, with an rx 580. I'm upgrading to a 5700x and rx 6700 xt. The CPU is only $200 and you could get the GPU for about $320 used on eBay.

I reckon the 40 series wouldn't sell at all if DLSS 3.0 was enabled on the 30 series, something they absolutely could do.
You will always have trust fund kids and people with shit for brains. They will buy the new thing with the bigger number, no matter what. Considering that as soon as mining died, no one was buying 30 series to the point where nvidia delayed new reasonably priced cards indefinitely, it looks like the new flagships sell well for as long as it takes for the idiots to buy them up, then will sit on the shelf forever until they get deep discounts. And by then people have moved on.
Nah. It still is a beast without dlss3.0

I stopped being excited for CES and other events finally after so many years. Companies are only interested in hiking prices as much as they can get away with now. Too many monopolies and duopolies in various industries!
So true! I’m to the point where I don’t even wanna consume. I can’t be disappointed if I don’t buy!
Extracting the last penny from the customer while ALSO giving the bare minimum scraps.
Yup I'm pretty over it all. There's only so far you can screw a person before they finally accept that yes, they are in fact being screwed and are no longer ok with it.
Natural monopoly*
I guess CES starts Thursday because it’s an event for industries whose employees often can’t take a weekday off (e.g. broadcast industries), so many of those attendants will fly out Friday afternoon and hit the show Saturday & Sunday.
im also curious if part of it being that new year’s day was on a sunday so it was observed on a monday, throwing everything off a bit
That's why MOST industrial conventions happen over a weekend. IBC in Amsterdam as well for example.
I mean most conventions are on the weekend for their main days. You get a weekday for press only (often wednesday), a weekday for people who can take time off (Thrusday) and then the main days Friday-Sunday. Can't think of many conventions that break from that general rule, living right next to a giant convention center.

For the last few years of crazy GPU prices, I've been thinking of different options for a new GPU for a reasonable level of price to performance. @@notastone4832yeah but they still overprice it to kingdom come.
@@notastone4832 mmm boot leather..
Thanks guys. I'm fine, it's just annoying. I feel like they're taking the piss out of us. nVIDIA seemed to forget about Gamers when they had the crypto people hoovering up all the cards. We've had years of bad availability + GPUs going for 1K or 2K price ranges. Now nVidia think that sounds like a lovely new price range for cards... Sorry for coming across incoherent, this is just off the cuff.
My solution has been focusing on system optimization. I nickel electroplated my RTX2080's cold plate so I could use liquid metal as a TIM. I also cut a 1mm copper plate to bridge a potion of the gap between the 2080's RAM and it's heatsink. These mods help the card run cooler and more stable at higher overclocks. I also have been tuning my memory and CPU for more performance, which has been a lot of fun. I don't know if you've heard of ProcessLasso or FanControl, but they're great bits of software that really help you get the most out of your setups.
All in all I really think nVidia is screwing the pooch right now. I'm going to do something else with my money if GPU's are going to continue to live in the range of space money.
Note to the video editor: That squeak toy sound was brilliant. Well done!
I love the Vegas hate. I also like how well your presentation was, Riley.
The full Laptop with the laptop 4090 is cheaper then the standalone 4090 (ik there is a difference between desktop and laptop but this still sounds like madness)
The desktop one can suck up like up to 600W of power, if the laptop ver is like 120W max that won't just be "a difference" but "hell of a completely different dimension difference" 😅
@@giovannipomarico2035 also I don't think the laptop chips are simply downclocked desktop chips anymore. That only lasted 2 generations, which is unfortunate but probably just long enough to confuse most buyers into thinking it would stay the new normal.
@@sim2er Yeah, nowadays it's more like "We'll call our most powerful desktop GPU RTX 4090, and our most powerful laptop GPU also RTX4090!" even tho the chips have pretty much nothing in common.
That's shady marketing, but nvidia have shown they love giving the same name to different things to confuse/trick people (hello RTX 4080 12GB which doesn't even have the same chip than the 16GB but we'll trick customers into thinking that's the same)

It is frustrating that a lot of Alder Lake (and consequently, Raptor Lake) SKUs increased in price, but I think that the 13400F is still killer value. Matching the 7600X at 60% the price.
The 5800x3d is still the better budget option. It's faster than the 13400F with DDR5 and much faster than the 13400F with DDR4. Having to buy expensive DDR5 and mobo to get near the performance makes it more expensive than a 5800x3d build. Both CPUs are EOL for their sockets.
@@zues287 The most important metric the 5800x3d improves, that I've found, are the .1% lows. I could never get myself to play RDR2 due to the framepacing issue, but the 3d cache has fix the problem for me.
