Thank you for this video!! Very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
Looks like a BEAST of a machine!! Great review 👌
Solid review! been waiting for this one from you man! I think you've convinced me. WE ARE GETTING ONE
Glad to hear it! Thanks for watching :)
Very simular situation I was in. I finally purchased the Mac Studio base model. I did purchase a Satechi M.2 NVMe SSD Enclosure with a WD_BLACK 4TB SN850X NVMe. Using the Thunderbolt port for connection, It's just as fast as the internal drive! I will never go back to the Windows OS. Also, love the quietnes of the Mac!
I run the same NVMe setup as you! I used my windows m.2s haha
Very Helpful! Thank you Seb!
Glad you liked it Mat! Do you one one too?
I am a cameraman and filmmaker based in Vienna/Austria and I did a lot of Projects on my Mac Book Pro (Mid 2014). Now it is time for a new one, so I really think I will go for the Studio M2 Max with the 64GB and a 1TB SSD. Should work fine for my studio. And then I still have (like you) my MacBook for Offloading Files on a shoot etc. etc. =)
All the best to you and your wife! Keep strong! Greetings
@@sofilmat Thats a great strategy!
Thanks Mat! Let's connect on IG @awakeabroadmedia
Would love to follow your journey!
Awesome vid, I want one of these now!
Highly recommend it if you edit lots of videos or need a lot of power to run multiple apps at once. Loving this machine!
Love that table, any link? will deliver enought for a 2 4k 60hz monitors?
Great video! I’m looking into getting a Mac Studio. I have a really good PC, but when I am looking through photos (I’m a wedding and sports photographer so I go through thousands of photos), it struggles. When I cull photos, I like to zoom in and delete or flag as I go through, but with my PC there’s always a few seconds of loading time when I zoom in and zoom out. Do you find this on the Mac Studio?
Great review! My M1 Pro is starting to lag just a bit in my video work, and struggles with multitasking at times and I'm thinking about upgrading. Was torn between the M3 Macbook or the Mac Studio. This helped with my decision!
Glad this video helped you! Yeah the studio is such a great computer! Honestly, I am SO happy with it.
right now I am rendering BRAW 4K footage, and its working through No problem at all
Yesss! This is awesome
Thanks for watching 😃
I Have the same Unit hated the bottom sliding on my desk I fixed this problem by taking a extra mouse pad cut it round and glued it to the bottom Wow did it help.
genius idea!! I have an extra mouse pad Thanks for the tip!
Man, I really want one. My PC is on its last leg. And as far as the new chip goes, it's not all that more powerful than the M2 so yours will have a good few years ahead of itself!
Great video my friend
I can't recommend this enough, especially for filmmaking. Every single day it surprises me with handling anything I throw at it!
right now I am on M1 MacMini but will be upgrading to the Studio later this year. Great setup you are working on, what's the Monitor you are using?
Hey Armin! I am using the Dell Ultrasharp u4919dw. I absolutely love it!
The Mac Mini is great too, although I am sure you will love the performance boost of the Studio!
I just got the Mac Studio M2 Max with 64gb and 1tb. I'm coming from a 2020 intel iMac. and its amazing
Oh yeah thats quite the upgrade man. Solid setup!!
I still use a 2017 Macbook Pro and it kicks ass, but the M2 Studio is my workhorse for 90% of my tasks!
I wished you would have posted this back in December when you recorded it. I was torn between a refurbished M2 pro mini and a used studio. I went with the refurbished mini just to have the warranty, but wished i would have went with the studio. 16 gigs is not enough!
Damn dude, my bad for taking long with this one. I found the studio refurbished and saved $200 I put towards the warranty. Are you still within the return period for your mini?
@@awakeabroadmedia no I have had it for over 60 days. Now I'm torn between getting a used studio like before or making a hackintosh. There is the thought of just keeping it until the warranty is up, then switching it out... I'm not a hardcore editor, but I am a multitasker.
Hmm good point, if you're multitasking you will benefit from more Ram.
If you're experiencing bottlenecks holding you back from being efficient, I would swap it out as soon as you are able to, so you save time and speed up your workflow
@@awakeabroadmedia thanks man
Just got one, base model. And really impatient to get back home to install it 🤗 I am not a pro, but since I keep my macs a long time (my previous MBP lasted 10 years and 7 years), the M2 Max will keep me future proof for my hobby workflow. I could have waited either for the March or June Apple events for the M3 versions, but got one on the refurb store with nearly 20% rebate. I already use external SSD : as fast as the internal ones and much cheaper than Apple options. Great video, thx 👍
Hey Michio, that so exciting!!
Yeah I got mine Refurb too. $200 off which I put towards apple care + just in case of any issues down the line. I am so happy with it! Excited for you man, enjoy it and thanks for watching 🤜🏼
I completely agree with your choice, but I say so with bias. I've got the base M1 Studio Max and it's a beast, perfect for my use case.
Hey Bryan! What do you use your M1 Studio base model for?
@@awakeabroadmedia It's overkill for my tasks, which I like. I do prosumer tasks like video creation with iMovie, and photo editing with Photoshop. I also check out new Linux releases with Parallels (my personal favorite is Debian). I was doing all of this with a decently spec'd M1 Mac mini but I like having the extra overhead now, I can really see the difference.
@@bryans8656 yeah overhead is nice because you can future proof it for at least 5 years. That was my plan :) with Apple care too, because, you never know haha
Hey would you wait for M3 max Studio? I heard it's coming out this year
Hmm great question. Sounds like the same question I had when I bought mine.
If you think the M3 is going to be significantly better for your needs then I would wait. But also think about how much use you will get out of the M2 NOW if you went for it now.
Truth is, the increases between M1,2,3 are not as big as the one from Intel to M, so is it work waiting until an undisclosed date for a 20% increase in performance?
I would do what I did- go on the refurbished page, save yourself some money and get the Mac now, and start pumping out work for your business. If you regret buying it, you can always return it within the first 30 days I think.
Thanks for the excellent top level overview.
If people are considering a Mac Mini as a cheaper alternative, they should consider the much higher operating temperature of that machine. Higher operating temperatures shorten the life of electronics. If one is the type who buys a new machine every couple of years that won’t be a problem. But, if you’re hoping to keep the machine for a long time, it should be an important consideration.
Well said! This is important!
Also, if you're someone who gets a new Mac every few years, consider investing that money now, and not having to upgrade later. It is well worth getting a beefier machine like the Studio
I bought a Mac Studio with multiple monitors but kept getting beach balls. I don’t think it’s optimized for multi-monitor support.
Interesting! Its actually optimized for up to 8 monitors or something ridiculous like that.
What monitors are you using?
It could be the model, type, or tech in the monitors.
What monitor is that?
Thats the Dell u4919dw
More info in the description :)
I really think it's funny that you expected the "speaker" in the studio to be good. SInce this is, for intents and purposes, a Mac Pro replacement, it is not intended to be used without some sort of audio monitoring. I remember that the original cheesegrater Mac Pros having really bad speakers as well. I think speaker systems are better utilized on all-in-one solutions such as the iMac or the Macbook line.
You got a point there, and I agree that its meant to be used with audio monitoring.
But its just one of those things that I take notice of. Its such a great computer with so much put into it that a JBL GO or Wonderboom like sound wouldn't be too much to expect from Apple. Or, at least not sound like a cellphone inside a red solo cup haha
At least it does have a speaker!
@@awakeabroadmedia I am shocked they fit any type of speaker inside the case as well! Thanks for the review - great stuff!
Thanks for watching :)

Uh…. You’re kidding… right? When has a Mac mini or Mac Pro, units that require monitors and keyboards, ever come with speaker sound as a selling point…
Never! It was certainly be a nice selling point. It would make them more portable, needing less peripherals.
64 gb was side man, i ave 16 on my mbp and it doesn't hold up as promised by apple. GET MORE RAM peeps!
Facts!

Dude, seriously…. I’m still rocking an m1 MacBook Air, no FOMO here!
Same with my wife. M1 Pro and it’s doing so well!!
should have waited till M3 😅😅
Nah i'm good on the M2. The amount of time it has saved me is insane. Editing is smooth, multitasking is easy, it really is worth the investment IMO.
Why do you think its worth waiting for M3? Im currious!
