It was so great to meet so many of you in Amsterdam for my first ever meet up and photo walk! I'm definitely inspired to do more of these in the future in various cities around the world.
As I mention in the video, it's always great to just meet other like-minded individuals with a passion for creativity and exploring an urban environment. It's also amazing how so many photographers can capture such varying shots of the same destination!
If you'd like me to arrange a photo walk in your home city, let me know in the comments and I'll see if I can make it happen some day!

Amsterdam photo walk people, as soon as I work out how, I’ll set up a Facebook group so we can share our images ✌️
Washington, D.C.! 🇺🇸
Toronto :-)
Your home town...
Andrew Power, I'm hoping to visit Toronto later this year in October when I visit NYC!
Awesome!
When you live in the netherlands and just find his channel. I wanted to join so bad. But I missed it hope you come back haha
Went to Amsterdam last year fell in love with it love everything about it!
Some of the best images yet. Outstanding work.
Thanks for having us Joe, it was a brilliant day!
Awesome stuff! A photo walk in a new city is always fun. A good way to get free tour guides.
Notification squad~~
Will look forward to a Philippines photo walk if that's gonna happen hahahahaha
Love your videos as always Joe 👌👌
Dude so cool, you have such a nice community!
Amazing photos as always, is there going to be a blog post? I've been loving to check the blog after watching the vlogs!
Haven't finished the vlog yet, but had to stop and say I am thoroughly enjoying this! I was hoping you would share. (Saw the meet up notifications on IG) What fun! 😁 Would love to do this one day! Great job!!
PS... "Split decision" is my 2 year old's jam. 😉
Awesome photo walk idea. I'd really love to attend one of them if you ever come down to the bay area.
Pity I have missed this photo walk, I just was not in Amsterdam that day. I hope next time I can come and do some nice walk around the city. Great video!
Happy you guys liked it in Amsterdam! You shot some great photo's my friend!
Hey joe , amazing vid but can you made a video and how to take photos that tell a story on streets because I always hear that a photo has to tell a story but dont know how to do it. PLEASE LIKE THIS SO HE CAN SEE IT. THANKS
Tomas Vega r
i can't wait till this is possible again
I know I've said this before, but your videos just have great vibes man!
It's always interesting to see the city you live in through the "eyes" of someone else haha. Glad to see you guys enjoyed yourselves!
I agree! Even when you’re seeing it at the same time as other photographers on the same walk, we end up looking at different things!
Daarom
I’m Dutch and so nice to see how you experienced Amsterdam and the Dutch snacks/fastfood
Looked like great fun, well done Joe! Would love to see one in London at some point!
Yeah, it was loads of fun! I'm hoping to do a London one before the end of summer. Watch this space...
Wow. Congrats on your first meet up!
It looks so fun here 😍😍
All the guys and girls in the meet-up looked real nice and friendly. : )
Everyone was so chill! They all went out for dinner afterwards as well, which I was gutted to miss out on!
nice vlog ... nice city, nice country .... i was living at there 4 years .... so miss it
If you haven’t already been there, and no one else has mentioned it so far...Berlin. You’ll love it!
ahhh mannnn you were in Amsterdam?! You are my fav channel on youtube!
Nice! Next time we should definitely meet!!
I love watching your content!! Keep uploading please!
This is awesome! Hope you can do one next time you're in Tokyo!
Too bad I have missed the photo walk!
thank you so much for this video
Hi Joe, i have followed your videos for over 6 months! Love them! Thanks for constantly sharing videos with us. I am based in Hong Kong, and would love to join any photo walk/ meetup with you if you ever come visit! :)
I`m living in Amsterdam, totally missed out on this photo walk thing. I guess i need to look at the instagram/Twitter feeds more often eh ? :-) Glad to see you had a good time though !
Great edit,. Would love to see some of this going on in the UK!
Cheers! I'm hoping to do a London meetup sometime this summer!
Forget London Joe, venture further north instead. Liverpool or Manchester are great for photowalks! :)
Nooooooooo ..... missed that ! I live in Amsterdam and would have definitely liked to say hello ! Watched your Tokyo videos (amongst others) as I'm heading out there in August.
Anyhow, I'll hijack the thread to let the Dutch know I'm always up for a photo walk ! Ping me guys.
Keep on the great work !
Amsterdam's probably my favorite city I've visited.
It was so much fun! Thank you for the fun opportunity!
Thanks for coming along, dude! I'll get that Facebook group set up real soon!
That would be nice!
Next time you should check out the noorderlicht café near the nsdm-werf - probably on of the nicest café in amsterdam i've visited. it's a free ferry ride over there and actually the nsdm-werf is also a nice place to check out. lots of artists and creative people work there.
Now, I really want to go to Amsterdam! Looking at the flights now. ha ha
I love Amsterdam so much, it's my second favorite european city right after Barcelona.
Crazy, been there 3 days agooo
Love the music. Who is the artist. Very smooth Jazz Soul.
Amazing! I do love your channel! You should come to Brazil!
Perfect 👌 From Morocco 🇲🇦!!! ^^
I want to get a fugi camera, are they any good? Also great video keep up the good work
Amsterdam is probably the closest you can come to a perfect city for a photo walk.
Love how that first shot was in my regular coffe place in Rotterdam. You should definitely do some street shooting in rotterdam. A lot rawer and more interesting architecture then Amsterdam bru!
Another decent vid!
what do you process you images on ? what is the color profile or filter that yo apply? Amazing Captures !
Do you shoot jpeg or raw? I’m getting my first Fuji and interested in which is your favourite simulations
How many batteries did you need for the X-H1 on this day? Is battery life an issue for you on the X-H1?
Very cool! I would definitely be interested in joining a photo walk if you ever come to Texas 🤠.
Looked awesome, would love to be able to join in on a photo walk sometime!
It was heaps of fun! I’m excited for the next one (wherever that may be!)
The Netherlands my country, nice! how did u like it ? hope you have enjoyed it !!
Haha 4:50 that's me in the yellow polo taking a photo of Joe, which I've still got...
Hi there ! I have a question with what software do you edit your videos?
Awesome video! Subbed
Love a London meet 😎
Man, I'm digging your sound track!!! Who is the music by?
Great video as always! Gear question please.. have you tried the 16-55 with the XH1? Thinking about it as an all purpose street and family lens but man is it big.
I've tried them in the stores, but not on an actual photo shoot. I almost got one when I got the X-H1, but chose to get two primes instead (23mm and 50mm) as I prefer them for street shooting much more than zooms. However, with nature shooting I much prefer zoom options haha! It's a great all-round lens if you're looking for a simpler setup though.
Joe Allam thanks Joe. My budget right now put me at an XT2 with 23 F2 and 56 1.2 or the XH1 and 16-55. I’m thinking go for the second as a good all rounder and add the faster primes later.
Do you find the XH1 works well for street, or do people notice it more? Love the quieter shutter and the video features are always nice to have I guess. The IBIS does also give some creative options.
Also.. you need to come up North and do some shoots!
hey man I'm after a camera bag, what one are you using?
next one in Salzburg/Austria pleeeease :P
Hi, can I ask you about any freezing issue on XH1? I've got XT20 and I'd like to buy another body (XT2 or XH1) to use with my lenses. I'd like to get an XH1 (for better video capabilities) but I'm worried about the problem I mentioned. Suggestions o comments from you would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot!
1:41 : 'De cost gaet voor de baet uyt' = 'The cost comes before the benefit'
Unfortunately I wasn't be able to join you. Next time when you're in the Netherlands I definitely try to be there.
what lens did you use in this video?
Hey Joe! First, I really love your work. I'm always looking forward to any new content you post :)
Second, I'm heavily leaning towards trading in my Sony A7III and my Sony lenses and invest in Fujifilm. In one of your videos about switching to Fujifilm you mentioned about usability and I couldn't agree more. Ever since owning the A7III (since release date), I've had times where I didn't want to go out and shoot with my new camera because of all the functions and settings (which I had gotten used to). I lost a bit of fun when I go out and shoot photographs. However, I tried out the X100f for a couple of weeks and WOW! I totally understand what you were preaching. Specs, bells and whistles are all fine and dandy but when it comes to my personal preferences I want a camera that's easy to use and a camera that just exhibits the fun in photography. I know I got suckered in to the latest and greatest. I have nothing against Sony. This A7III is a beast and it produces awesome stills and video but as I mentioned, I lost that fun.
So thanks Joe and I look forward to more of your future content. Cheers mate! :)
Thanks for such a lovely comment! This literally sums up my passion for the cameras in a way that is kinda like “those who know; _know_.” I too was drawn to Sony with the release of the A7R II and then had exactly as you’ve described yourself. Even with the A7 III I’m still in awe at the specs, yet I just feel that the usability may not suit me for photography still. Photography is such a funny industry, yet so much of it actually comes down to how it feels in the heart more than anything ✌️
Joe Allam I may hold on to the A7III after all lol. I keep discovering the awesome video specs and if I decide to jump into the professional world then at least I have a capable camera to handle the heavy load. The X100f will be my sidekick when I hit the streets and will always be my 'favorite child'😀😂
Cheers😎
Are these pictures mostly with the 50mm?
Lolol Netherlands couldn’t escape your soft boiled eggs for breakfast!
Hello Joe ! i really need the help , in you're opinion what do you think is the best camera ina range of let's say 1000 euros for low light photography in city and landscapes ? I really don't care about video so that's not a weight in my decision
Hey Joe
I am following you now for a few weeks. It is nice that you have been to Amsterdam . Personally I think that the center of Amsterdam is not really interesting to make good streetphoto’s. The area is much too touristic. When you ever will come back, go to Amsterdam west or east. Go to markets, parks. Go to places where you can meet the real citizens of Amsterdam. The pictures that I see are the same like you can find in the touristic advertisements for Amsterdam . Amsterdam gives more inspiration for streetphotography outside of the center. Rotterdam is really interesting for streetphoto’s. The center there gives a lot more inspiration. I hope you will come back and look for the new places in the city!!
cafe emmelot is the best... miss the dam soo much.
The worlds first food vending machines began in Germany and were called Automats. With tables and chairs and ashtrays.
If you don't mind can you do a photography with Nokia 7 plus
Have you ever been to Prague @joeallam? If so, did you enjoy it and was it fun
Did Joe hit the dab at the end?
You open up an instagram account just for the photowalks.. just an idea.. ceep up the good work... cheers fredrik
4:08 the weather is getting better? What are you talking about, covered skies is the BEST weather for photography (during the day)
I didnt get any videos of you until now, i though you had ended the channel lol
Oooooh what camera strap is that??
I believe it's by DSPTCH
are you shooting RAW or JPG?
Always shoot RAW if you're planning on editing the photos
I’m a noob with cameras but I have a Nikon DSLR D3100. And I was wondering if the camera was all digital.🤭😓
Yes it is, the D stands for digital.
bigham48 Thanks, I’m doing a photo-shoot at a beach next week and I know what your saying, “Why are you doing a photo-shoot if you obviously know nothing about cameras?” Well the thing is is that I know nothing about the cameras internally. But I sure as hell know how to take pictures. I’ve been taking photography lessons since I was twelve. Just follow your dreams and you’ll be great at it.
Wait is your camera mirror-less?
Yep! All Fujifilm X-series cameras are mirrorless
who even has time for a mirror anymore
buddyWalrus I do. Not only that but any type of cameras that take good photos is ok for me.👍👌
Hii joe can you ever visit india?
Trains or planes?
heard an Aussie. Man, our accent sounds so strange when in amongst European accents.
If you decide to explore Zagreb Croatia drop me a line :)
Are you still shooting all of your pictures in "chrome"?
Yep! All my image edits start in Classic Chrome as a profile.
147 thousand... little community!!
It was so nice meeting you guys in Amsterdam. Loved the photo walk! If anyone's interested, here are my photos (edited with the JA preset pack of course): facebook.com/pg/peterkasbergenfotograaf/photos/?tab=album&album_id=2394908457189701
Your home town...
Fuck i was there some days before
Don’t go to a coffee shop, it’s not what you think 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
too bad u didn't walk in Rotterdam.
I saw that your girlfriend did like the kroket. 😉🤣
Elly cute f
blah, blah and a bunch of snaps.
A bit disappointed actually : quite classic ordinary touristic pictures but may be this was the target/purpose of this vidéo ?
Hope your not getting payed for this, which you are :)
This is not street photography but touristic under average snapshots.
Photo Walks, oh man, how cringeworthy. Fake people all trying to be fake friends with people they’re never going to see again, and acting stupid, singing, dancing, and pulling faces as soon as the camera is on them.
This is street photography? I dont think so! So many crappy so called street photographers out there!
I agree, this channel is completely devaluing the word 'street photography'...
