🟡5 Things You Should Know About Amsterdam! In this series of videos, I cover things you should know about Amsterdam or things you don't know about Amsterdam (aka some nice Amsterdam information / facts). All these Amsterdam mistakes are placed in random order, so it's not an Amsterdam Top 5, just Amsterdam facts & information in the order which came to my mind while filming. Some will be things you wish you knew before going to Amsterdam (and did I put this sentence here for you or for the CZcams algorithm? I might answer that question in another video!). I guess a few of these will really surprise you! And the I Amsterdam City Card may not be the best option for you after all! Some of the Amsterdam facts are common knowledge to all Amsterdam locals, but other things come from my personal experience (loophole: I'm also an Amsterdam local). This is my Amsterdam CZcams channel where I'm posting videos about Amsterdam (would you have guessed that?). I am making things like Amsterdam Top 10 videos (about for example Museums, Squares or Bridges). Or Amsterdam TO DO videos, which is a series of short videos in which I show known and unknown things you can check out in Amsterdam. I also make Amsterdam walking route and Amsterdam cycle route videos in several areas of the city, it might be fun for you to walk the route yourself when you're here, or you will find out that you definitely don't wanna go to a certain area! (in which case I saved you some time). I show you what to do in Amsterdam but also things to do outside Amsterdam. In some of the videos, I'll have CouchSurfers (also know as tourists) who are CouchSurfing at my place during the time of filming.

UPDATE !
IF you took the wrong train and ended at station South, then you can now take the North South line. That one goes to Central Station as well. SO that problem is fixed since 2023. Have a great stay !

I went back in 1994 & in most coffee shops they had a menu of weed samples... the most expensive and potent was called zero zero? The hottest girls are in the middle of the district. Charlie Sheen was at the Hard Rock 4 days before I walked in & signed the bar wall "Had fun in pair o dice."

Was there a few years ago. Great time,great people,great food ,great hash...we stayed out of the town center. Very quiet and close to shopping. Love the dam!

6th thing about Amsterdam: If you park your car on the streets, it will be broken in if they find yours is a rental car. Don't keep stuff in your car in Amsterdam.

@@Abhishek-tw3fdThere's definitely pick pocketing there. And I'd recommend not keaving anything of value in your car if you park your car out in the open at any point. Other than that, you should be fine.

Thank you very much! Yes especially for you (who I think is interested in history!) the museumcard would be the best option. I know in Paris there was something like this but then it was way more expensive and for a much shorter range&time (it was also meant for French residents, but still it was an unfair high amount compared to this card).

Don’t make the same mistake I did. I had my phone in my hand while walking through the red light district. I’m a middle aged woman and stupidly didn’t think anything about it. My camera wasn’t recording, but a sex worker in the window thought I was, and I got assaulted by her. She came outside, threw liquid on me and proceeded screaming continuously at me. I tried to show her I wasn’t recording, but instead she tried taking my phone from me and that’s when my boyfriend stepped in.
I definitely didn’t like the altercation, but I felt sorry for her nonetheless. To get that upset without knowing the facts, means she probably has a hard life and is worried someone will find out.
So, please put your phones away if you’re going through that area in Amsterdam.

Thanks for the video! I’m going solo the end of this month. While researching, I went for the “Go City” pass instead of the iamsterdam one. Who knows if I’ll be worth it, but the all inclusive pass was $133 American and includes five days. I’m sure I’ll make good use of it, but I wanted to throw it out there.

@@b-41subject57 came back yesterday and i really, really enjoyed it. Go check out anne frank haus, the reijksmuseum, the Van gogh museum, rembrandthouse and the Tropenmuseum. Mabye the torture museum as well lmao. Go check out one of the live shows in de wallen, that was crazy lmfao. Rent a bike and just bike around the city, much easier and quicker than the metro which stops around midnight or 1.
And def take a ride on one of the boast in the canals, enjoy the smoke boat with friends

Going to Amsterdam Zuid train station is not a mistake. For most destinations in the center, the fastest connection is going to Amsterdam Zuid train station, and then switching to the metro, for example to Rokin station, right in the center.

We had a flight stop in Amsterdam on the way to Göteborg. Stayed overnight in Hotel Ajax. The

Don't spend money on taxi's from Schipol. They are very expensive. It will be almost 100 eu or more for a ride to Centraal station. Take the train or bus for sure. The I amsterdam card is a worthy value as it will pay itself off especially if you use the tram a lot

The card gives you access to hundreds of museums in the whole country. Just go to the website of the museum u wish to visit and it’ll be written there

Whoops I see this 9months later! The answer is: YES. Did you do a canal cruise maybe? That's what I would do if I was here this short. A cruise takes 1hour15minutes and you'll see lot's of things in a short amount. And after that you'd still have time to walk around.

Don't stay in a hotel on Damrak. No alleys at night. Don't act like it's Spring Break in Miami. If you get drunk, stay well away from canals. Watch out for bicycle coming up from behind - give way. Watch where you step in certain neighborhoods.

It can be an address anywhere in the Netherlands. Not just necessarily Amsterdam
