Another tip could be to buy a "day-pass" for 7-8 Euros enabling you to use public transport system in the city for 24 hours (unlimited rides)
Hey Jan, is there any especific company that you would recommend?
@@MoMoMoracade In Amsterdam you have GVB the city Network for bus, tram and metro. The train system in The Netherlands is de NS. You can buy tickets at all stations. Most machines have several languages options.
Be careful though, at least on the metro you need to make 3 trips for it to be worth the cost. If you're only riding in, then out you are better off either using hourly passes or getting an OV-Chipkaart.
Can someone tell me how to get to
Easy Hotel Kruisweg 565, Hoofddorp, 2132 from Schiphol Airport by bus.
Also I need a travel card to use unlimited, for 2 days Between the above hotel and travelling around Amsterdam (I don't think I will need to use the train from the hotel). What are the cost and the type of travel card I will need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
The I ❤️ Amsterdam pass is great and you get into over 50 museums for Free. Another protip, stay in Noord, close to the city center and affordable.

My favorite thing to do in Amsterdam - living here 😄
Rada Yaroslavna Jealous:)
you are so lucky!!! i visited it a year ago and i'm still missing it everyday :(
soggy cereal you can always come again 🥳
Good
If you want to know whath Amsterdam is like, visit Amsterdam.
If you want to know what the Netherlands is like, vist anything but Amsterdam.
It is not typical for the Netherlands, much more crowded, rude, crude, extremely touristy.
Similar but different, go vist Utrecht, which is liek 30 min by train.
That said, you can be just about anywhere in the Netherlands in 2,5 hours by train if Utrecht is your start off point, which i would suggest above Amsterdam.
Also, visit the south as well, Breda, Eindhoven, Maastricht, maybe add Groningen up in the north, Enschede in the east, check Haarlem.
Just take a few weeks.
When in Breda, visit 'De Beyerd', chsoing best bar with a GREAT selection of bears in bottle and on tap many times over. It's only a few hundred yards outside of the (for international scale very small, you can walk across in minutes, but quality over quantity, trust me) city centre.
When I was 21 and a broke student and went to Amsterdam I lived on fries with satay sauce and mayo for a whole four days! Can’t wait to try all these things now that I’m going as a non-broke-employed-adult this year.
taring9 Nice! Happy travels!
Cheers,
M
Patat oorlog!
I’m going to be 21 when I go in April and I’m broke too haha I’ll have to try that fries diet
And? Have you been in the meantime?
taring9 I’m going as a broke student in July
That moment when the tourist gives a few ideas to do in your city 😂

I agree with everything have been said here. I have been in Amsterdam 4 times and can’t get enough of it
Stumbled across this video and loved every second of it! Thank you for making the idea of traveling a lot easier.
this was an absolute delight to watch! informative, entertaining, and well edited! love the duo set up with you and your friend. The best Amsterdam travel tips vid. I've come across so far!
These tips are excellent. Matt can be my guide anytime! I just returned from Amsterdam and was able to get to a few of the things Matt recommended including The Pantry, The Pancake Bakery, the Indonesian restaurant -- Sampurna (great), The Anne Frank House, the Rijksmuseum, the Van Gogh Museum. Ok, more than a few.

I live in Germany for more than 5 years now. Just went back for a short trip in Amsterdam and I got to wonder untl now, why the German can't be so open and friendly like the Dutch
Good
But German girls are way more easier than Dutch girls despite difference in friendliness.
This was the best guide i've seen so far!
11guitardude Thanks! So glad you liked it!
He's right. BEST guide
I agree! I've been to Amsterdam 5 times--and I never get tired of the city that has so much life, beauty, and vibrancy.
How to survive is pretty good too
I just found your channel, planning my trip to Europe. You guys ARE AWESOME!
and that is a city I will return to! even if is so full of people! Love it! thank you for the video..
Travelling to Amsterdam for a couple weeks in late May/early June. Cannot wait. Thanks for the suggestions.
I fell in LOVE with Amsterdam, the whole time there we got lost and had the best time. Can't wait to go back
Maria Teresa Wooten I know...I could visit over and over. It’s so wonderful:)
Cheers,
M
How much a hotel not expansif there
"Grab a joint" - lol caused us to spent 6 hours on the bench instead of going to contemp art museum
Lol. I went to Amsterdam and of course didnt want to smoke a joint. Why would I want to do that when I can easily do it here at home in Mexico? Better to use my time on something I cant find here (im not talking about beautiful girls behind windows, huh!). A friend of mine ate a muffin and basically collapsed. I guess that will be her adventure to tell to her friends, lol.
sometimes cannabis isnt for the faint hearted. a nice joint and viewing of museums are amazing
lmao yup
You can use a mild one strain for the day so you will do all the activities y want and late at night use a stronger for the good high...it’s all about how and when you use

I’m so happy I came across this I’m going too Amsterdam In 30 Days and This is very helpful Can’t wait to go
Amsterdam is so chill. What a great city.
Amsterdam is sooo beautiful!
I've been there a couple of weeks ago and I fell in love!
Thanks for your appreciation, I first came here 50 years ago and instantly fell in love with it, the feeling never left me. It's a great place to live, to leave, and return to. I love my city and am proud of it. She's always changing; She makes it so easy to be who I am. I feel so privileged. 🎈
Whoa!! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Awesome video..Wish I could go to Amsterdam someday 🙃.
I love dutch people. They r honest and straight forward and r not rude. Fell in love with one 😍
I spent tonight watching SEVERAL travel videos on Amsterdam and there's some great ones out there, but this one was the best!
Amsterdam is the most beautiful city in the world!!!
I'm from Amsterdam and I really love the way you showcase my home and you give the best tips! The Anne Frank museum; must! Canalboat tour; beautiful! And especially tip 14, just wander and get lost, enjoy the canals, the little nooks and crannies, the weird and wonderful people that live here (not me, of course) and wander some more when it;s dark. It give the city a whole new level of awesomeness. Thanks, you nailed it!
PS: hope you guys recovered from the space cake, it can be quite the ride ;-)
Matt…..u r simply awesome……so much of happiness and positivity…😊😊😊
of all travel vids I've watched while planning my trip, this is the best! I laughed, I took notes, I drooled over the food, thanks!
That's it. Going to start planning myself a trip to Amsterdam now
Awesome!! I live like 2 km from kasteel de haar
My most favorite city in the world. Love you Amsterdam for your kindness, beauty, and charm. Thanks for the video.
Rita Muller Glad you like the video! Totally agree about Amsterdam:)
Cheers,
M
Fair play I'm Amsterdam native but live in Ireland you made the perfect expression of Amsterdam well done .
Glad to see things haven't changed all that much. I haven't been there in 15 years but before that went 3-4 times a year. I also love the pancakes, love those little Italian restaurants where there's huge portions for 5 Euros. I don't see people mention the Argentine beef places but I loved Gaucho's restaurants. I would partake of the weed, mainly Sativa and that energized me to do the last thing you mentioned, get lost. I'd get energized and just walk. Nice video for sure!
SkipMDMan Nice! Glad you liked the vid!
Cheers,
M
I'm a local and I loved how well you've portrayed this city
Marjorie Rodrigues So glad you liked the vid:) Always nice to have the approval of a local. Love your city!
Marjorie Rodrigues
Hi, Just to know, how about visiting Amsterdam in winter with my 4 year old kid. Is it really cold?
Yasar Yas not really, winter in the Netherlands is mild compared to other European countries. Expect temperatures between 5C and -5C depending on when you come. It can get lower than that, but hasn't in recent years. Make sure to bring clothes that protect you from the wind and water and you'll be fine :)
Marjorie Rodrigues Appreciate your reply, I’m planning to come by December or Last of January. By the way, I’m from India. I hope I can get some tips from you about a family trip and I haven’t travelled anywhere with my family.
Indeed! From another local Who loves the video! And 2 things about the weather: we use rain poncho’s and we even have the whole suit that included a rain jacket and rain pants
This place is definitely a go to…getting around by bike is the best..chocolate box picturesque..thanks for all the tips..maybe one day will take you up on them..let’s hope so..❤
Have just watched a few different vids about tips for a trip to Amsterdam. This is by far the best one!
I am going end of april, Loved the info!
Amsterdam is by far the best city in the world! it's not about what to do, but how it makes you feel! God it's pure joy, peace, warm vibe and freedom all together. LOVE means Amsterdam

Best Amsterdam video on youtube!!! Thank you for compiling it! :)
absolutely!
Sumeru Pillipes matt creates great videos
I'm totally with you on traveling with your stomach. My favorite thing about traveling anywhere is the food. It kind of annoys my wife that anytime we plan a trip that I have to factor in the food into whether or not we should go to the destination.
thank you for the video brother! exactly what I was looking for… going to visit on my own in the winter
Maaaan I love this guys! Explains everything very well!
Hugh Grant, thats what he looks like! Hugh Grant.
Yeah well it's Matt Grant, his niece

I'm visiting this country in July. I've been watching many videos about what to do while there and let me just say, you have had the best tip video. Your personality is amazing, the tips are informative and it's just all around fun. Thank you, please keep up the great work. 👏
Little Gipper Thanks so much for the great compliment!! Glad you liked the vid! Have a great time!!
Cheers,

well let me give you a few more tips. Look up one of our festivals in july. Go to Amsterdam Noord with the ferry, go to NDSM. Go to the Kinkerstraat area, visit the Foodhallen. Go to the Rijksmuseum or the Hermitage. Take the train to Zandvoort and visit the sea, it´s not the most beautiful place but it shows you our obsessive beach culture. Or go to Amsterdam Amstelkwartier and sit at the water if it´s good weather.
@@paultjecolumn Castricum is probably nicer for a beach than Zandvoort...
@@jwenting it is but for most tourist Zandvoort is the easiest to get to! I prefer Noordwijk and Egmond.
How was it :)
Very good practical video. Long on helpful tips and short on verbosity and obvious info. Thanks Matt!
Awesome video, you had my mom and I laughing. We enjoyed it!
Love the video! Great job.
Davidsbeenhere Thanks!!

This video was very well done! Thank you!
I REALLY had a grat time watching and take notes! Obrigadoo!
Love these videos!
Thank you!!!
I am from amsterdam myself, and sometimes I dont get what people see in Amsterdam and if they like it.
but I love that you are so fanscinated about the city!
I guess most of the tourism comes from the whole idea of freedom, the openness, soft drugs, etc. but there are some cultural gems like the Anne Frank museum and Van Gogh museum that are pretty hard to resist visiting because they're so historically significant. Amsterdam is a strange city compared to the rest of the world, there is no place like it. Maybe the same can be said for every single city/country in the world, but trust me when I say there really is no place like Amsterdam, and people like things that are different I guess! :)
Before I hate it, because when I visited first time it was so dirty, tourist trap city, I didn't like it at all. After one more visit when I started to discover parts around the city center I fell in love. Amazing city a lot of things to see and do, and never get bored. It is not like other famous European cities which became more like an amusement park where locals are forced to live out from the city center because it became too expensive for life.
I like because it's smaller compared to other cities in Europa. Not cheap, but if rent a bike you save a lot of money in transport. Nice people also when I got lost last year a girl without knowing me, help me to get to my hotel.
Awesome video buddy. You pretty much nailed it all in one fair swoop. Bravo!
I love to watch you guys its gives me smile alone😁 amazing
This is the best city tour I've ever seen. I am currently living here in The Netherlands for an exchange program and YES your umbrella is so hilarious 😂 We don't usually use it here otherwise it will be broken 🤭 I love how you portrayed the Dutch people. I agree with you that they are the coolest people. As I always say to the internationals, "I don't like Amsterdam, I LOVE AMSTERDAM" 😍
Derl’s World Jealous you get to live there! Glad you liked the video:)
All the best,
M
Amsterdamp bro although the first time i went i took a load of clothes for cold weather an it turned out to be really warm every day lol
I love how calm your travel guides are :)
Wow what a fun awesome video. Thanks guys.
I lived in NL as a kid and visit frequently, die to my lack of practice I never get on a bike except for when I go to my old little town. I find the tourists that attempt this very brave, it scares me 😂 people on bikes are savage.
Dutch pancakes are the best in my opinion, since I grew up eating those I never liked the U.S pancakes
Also my favorite European city (maybe because I was raised in San Francisco; it feels familiar in certain ways.) Lovely to see your take on it. I recognize the "Colors of the Night" exhibit at the Van Gogh Museum, which I saw in 2009 - or perhaps the self-portraits were retained as part of the museum's regular exhibits...
what other european citys have you visited?
It is very much like I remember SF to be. I was living there in The City during the wonderful 90's. That's why I consider AMS to be my second or third home. Can't afford it anymore., haha/.
The end of your video made me so happy
Matt your adorable! Thanks for the trip to Amsterdam!
Great Video. I love the Netherlands and I love Amsterdam. I live in Germany 50 Km (what is it in miles?) from the border and I´ll go there whenever I can. The People are just great!

Just Chilin Yep, I think approximately ~10-11 April.
Grant Reznor oh my god! Haha I’m going the 10th and leaving the 17th that’s funny
Just Chilin cool, in last year I’d first experience on hitchhiking. I’ve been to Mongolia in August.I started in Kazakhstan, actually I’m from Kz. So , in this year I’m tryna do the same thing in Europe.

This was the first video I watched on the city and the first video of yours I’ve ever watched. I clicked Subscribe before the video was over. Matt, this is my first time watching one of your videos. First, let me say that your videos are of so much higher quality than those who have 500K followers like Wolter’s World. Second, I appreciate how you give specific details on restaurants and coffee shops. No one else really does that. Lastly, has anyone ever mentioned that you look like Hugh Grant?
