    This is a bit of chatty/rambling discussion about finally making the full switch to Fuji for my photography with the Fujifilm X-H1!
    Sorry about the wait between videos, I'd previously recorded a video unboxing and discussing this camera along with a couple of other unrelated vlogs, but never published them because they didn't really add that much relevance to anything. Now that I've been using this X-H1 for a few weeks, I can share a few thoughts on it with this video!
    Keep an eye out for some more from this trip to Paris with the X-H1!

      Hey Joe, can you possibly share your XH-1 video outside your feed (provide link here in comments), I believe you have done that before. Just for those of us who are interested & read the comments (like a Easter Egg)?

      Hey Joe, personally to me, the rambling is a lot more convincing and direct then a unboxing video where you cover mostly specs, it's just genuine from the way you expressed your daily usage on this camera and to me, this video brings another dimension to the review then cold hard numbers because at the end we are human beings so usability of a tool do come in a very high priority than just specs imo. People only really ramble about things when you truly love it or absolutely hate it - think about it, when do you last ramble about something that's mediocre? Anyhow great video you might have made me to spend a fortune very soon.....

    Joe.... your best video by far. I think your rambling is much better than the clinical / technical blurb on other vlogs. It means you are natural and your passion for what you are doing shines through. I am a long term Fuji user after moving from Nikon full frame and have never been happier. The one thing you said that I don’t agree with is “if you are an X-T2 user then the X-H1 isn’t a necessary upgrade for you”. In forty years time you will understand how us poor old boys can’t hold our cameras steady anymore so IBIS is a life line for us because we can go back to primes without O.I.S. I have an X-T2 with Samyang 12mm, 18-55, 50-140 and I long for the 27mm f1.4, 35mm f2 and the 16mm 1.4 which I miss so much. Keep up your current style it is one of the best on You Tube. Old codger Gary

  • @atxrich
    @atxrich Před 6 lety +3

    Congrats on the decision! The X100 series is the Fuji gateway drug. I was a X-T2 user for about a year, but stuck with my Nikon gear for 'studio' use and my X100F for travel/casual shooting. Fuji is a SOLID system.

    it's glad to hear one of my favourite photographer is switching to Fujifilm! I am using X-T2 now, I fall in love with Fuji after purchase this great camera. • @joeallam
      @joeallam  Před 6 lety

      Cheers! A few people have mentioned the 16mm, but I honestly don’t like to shoot that wide. 23mm is about wide enough for me, but even then I find myself gravitating to the 50mm more often. I’ll test one if I see one, but it’s not something I personally think I’ll invest in.

    You need to try a Fuji Fuji GSW690 iii. The 65mm lens is mind-blowingly sharp. Yes, it shoots film but try it with some pro quality film and you will be blown away. I've been a Fujifilm digital shooter since the very first X-Trans sensor came out and love their digital cameras, but I love their analog Medium Formats so much more. The 6x9 negative is the largest medium format in existence and I assure you it will rock your world.

    Those little F2's are the best too...The sharpness & colours that come out of them are just bonkers. I have the 35mm & 50mm currently, and if it weren't for me having the 23mm f1.4 I'd own the f2 23mm, haha.

      @iSee91 Před 6 lety

      Joe Allam Ah yeah, I've seen the 35 on her X-T10. So you don't like the 24mm equ. focal length? For me the 16mm is also the widest I'd want to go but maybe you can rent the lens in the UK for a couple of dayd and give it a try at least. Is it because of the aesthetics of the distortion that you don't like to go too wide? I think you're a fan of lens compression, aren't you?
      The the 50-140 might be the one for you as you had your 50-200 on your Canon quite a lot!

    Hey Joe I love your photography and I'm stuck between choosing the xh1 and the x100f because I don't know if there's a lot more to bring with the xh1 what would you recommend even tho they're are two totally different kind of experience

    I just invested in the Sony ecosystem but your videos really show off the power of Fujifilm! Maybe one day I can invest in Fuji as well and get one of these awesome cameras haha :) Love your videos Joe, keep up the great quality work. I love how you put your photos in the vlogs as well- its awesome to hear you talk about how you are shooting a certain scenario but its another thing to actually see the finished product. I am trying to find more vloggers like you but no one can match your quality and style. Cheers!

      BTCyd I also shoot fuji for all my videos and I love fuji, but I do wonder if fuji will ever make a full frame option. The GFX is awesome but I have no real reason to shoot medium format. It’ll be kinda weird if they never made a full frame camera on their lineup though.

    Thanks for this informative video about the X-H1! I really like that you included some footage of this camera instead of just telling the specs. I wish I could buy one, because of ibis, but that would be unreasonable since I already have 2 cameras with that sensor.
    How do you like the Fujinon XF 23mm f2 so far?

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  Před 6 lety +1

      Yeah it's probably not worth getting if you already own a couple of other Fujifilm cameras. The new firmware for a lot of them will be out in May which is great news! I really like the 23mmF2, though I must admit that I spent most of my time in Paris shooting with the 50mm

    Great video! I full understand your Fuji experience. My gateway drug was the x100s ;)
    With the new Kaizen Firmware the only difference between the XT2 & the XH1 is the in-body stabilization, is this correct?

    First of all: Thank you so much for this video 🙏🏽
    My question is:
    I’m thinking about to switch from my Canon to the XH1. Are the shown photos out of the camera or are they re-produced in Lightroom/Photoshop.
    The colour looks great. is this a filter in the cam?
    Thanks for your answer 😊

    Hi Joe, are you still using the X-H1? There's some great deals on it right now and I'm tempted to make the jump to Fuji. I'm kind of looking for a hybrid camera that I can use for family video as well as landscape photography.

    I'm impressed but the main things that have been pissing me off are a couple things:
    A) we need 4K 60fps. I can't put 24p in my timeline & go slow-mo if I want. I gotta then do 1080 60fps. That's not what I wanna do.
    B) Fuji. FIX the batteries!! The Sony info-z battery or whatever it's called clearly has the right idea. Please get on that. Otherwise, I'm not gonna move up because battery will just drain.
    C) fix auto ISO. Please. The other settings have a love readout during metering but ISO doesn't until shutter is held. If I want to adjust shutter speed or aperture for best quality or just getting the shit I can't because I don't know...
    There's other things but for now that's HUGE

    I'm still using my Fujifilm X-A1, which I bought to really get into photography as a hobby, and learn more about it, though now I've kind outgrown it, still love the thing, but I'm wanting to buy something better. I've been at huge debate with myself on if I want to switch to Sony, or stay Fujifilm. Truth is I love the look of Fuji's cameras, and I hear they make some incredible lenses. I don't shoot video, and mainly do photos, and I cant seem to decide on whether I should go for the T-20, or try push abit and get the T-2, knowing it has the dual card slots. I don't shoot weddings, purely just hobby stuff and the occasional architectural imagery for render compositing. As a now Fuji photographer, do you perhaps have any guidance as to which would be best? Also Id ideally like to get a battery grip to extend the battery life, as well as better grip on the small body. Thanks in advance!

    Hey Joe! Welcome to the Fuji fam! I've got the Fuji X-T20, 23 f1.4, 35 f1.4 and 56 f1.2. How come you didn't get any f1.2/1.4 lenses? Also, did you buy the battery grip?
    Keep up the great videos! Bought all your presets a couple weeks ago and I love them - keep up the good work!

    • @joeallam
      @joeallam  Před 6 lety +1

      Cheers! I went for the F2 lenses for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they're all weather-sealed. Then, they're all much smaller and lighter with only a slight loss in aperture that is still plenty wide enough. Finally, they all have updated AF mechanics which makes them much faster to focus. The 35mm 1.4 for example is actually a pretty slow focuser in reference to the F2. I'm hoping they'll update it one day...
      And yes, I got the battery grip too. A no-brainer considering it came with 2 extra batteries and AC adapter too!

    • @ChristophrChan
      @ChristophrChan Před 6 lety

      Joe Allam ah fair enough! And nice one 👌🏻
      But you may want to check the af speed of the 35 f1.4 on the newer bodies i.e. X-T2, X-T20, X-Pro2, xe3, and your XH1... It's a lot faster than you think. Maybe just the tiniest bit slower than the f2... I had the f2 version but didn't notice much of a difference in af speed between the two. Anywho, like I said, it's a lot faster than you think ;)
