  • Hey!
If you are someone who is wanting to get out and start running/training but feel too self conscious to do it, then this video is for you! I wanted to show that it doesn't matter what you look like or how you feel about yourself, you CAN get out and work on yourself!
I thought I needed to lose weight before I could go running outside, just like I thought I needed to lose weight before I could do many things! Like buy the clothes I wanted to wear or go on a holiday I've always wanted to go on! THIS IS CRAZY and I wanted to put a video out there that I needed to see when I was feeling like this. There are so many inspiring people on CZcams but I didn't feel like I could relate to them.
Running has changed my life in the best possible way. It's not just there for the already fit, it's for us bigger girls and guys too!!
    Thanks for watching!

Thank you for sharing this. I am and overweight runner. I have run a half a mile. Yep. That is it so far, but a 5K is my first goal. I run/walk.

There is nothing like that meal after a half/marathon. You literally feel like you could eat a horse and whatever you have tastes like Michelin star food. I had a good chuckle when I saw your jam on toast. Congrats to you, i'm just watching random stuff now and again so I've probably watched some of your stuff out of order but I do find them inspiring. I just noticed the date (3 years ago) and hope you are still running.

Lucy, I just bumped into your videos today. I’ve found them to be super inspirational and really down to earth. Thank you! I’m a 45 year old dad if 3. Last year I was 3.5 stone heavier than I am now and had not run since school. Dunno why I started running earlier this year, but I did. And it’s videos just like yours that will keep me going 😊 PS: the jam toast looked SO good!

  • @jennylharrellcatron1454

Thank you. I’ve lost 10lbs but still weigh 190 lbs and used to run tons of half marathons. I’d like to get back to running three to four half’s a year. Right now just walking as I tweaked my knee from starting with too much mileage right away. Not stopping though. Thanks for the inspiration!

*finally* a runner I can relate to!! I've been running for years (literally years) and have done plenty of 5kms, 10kms, half marathons, 5 marathons and 2 50kms. None of them have been fast. All have been run/walk but all have ended with me being elated that I finished something I started.
I follow many runners on here and whilst I also love their videos and really get a lot from them, i can't look at them in the same light as I just did with yours. When you said "i'm slow" I was honestly thinking you'd finish your race and it would be a time i'd go "oh yeah that's still fast compared to me" but I actually went "ohhh, my pace!". Wholly relatable.

I’m overweight and have had weight issues my whole life. I’ve also been a runner and very physically active my whole life. I’m 43 and have been running 5Ks since I was 12 years old. I’ve run several half marathons. I’ve been running 25 miles a week for 15 years, only taking brief breaks during pregnancy. I ran right up until 32 weeks pregnant. I’m currently 35 lbs overweight and training for my first marathon and planning for a 4 hr pace. I give all these details to note that running is for everyone, every body type. Your only barrier is your mental stamina.

I’m big but have actually run 101 races; I’m training for my 4th half but I’m struggling with it. I get discouraged with how long my runs take me so I stumbled across your video. I’m worried I won’t feel ready enough come race day
I know how you feel. People have made rude comments about my size and everything jiggling. Congrats on your weight loss journey

    • @lucyshawvlogs
      @lucyshawvlogs  Před 2 lety +2

I know it’s easy for me to say but please don’t get discouraged. The first race I ever did was a 10k (Part of a medal chaser race - the further you go the more medals you get) I actually came last place out of everyone who managed the 10k distance. The thing was, I was the happiest one there! I was more excited to get my medal then anyone else there. I worked my ass off and was proud. I didn’t feel ready at the start of that race and honestly it made it even better once I finished it 🙌🏼 I’m sorry you have had comments, that really is awful. You’ve ran a lot and your body can do great things, this is your 4th half. How many people can say that?! Amazing. Thank you and all the best for your race. I believe in you!

Congratulations! What an achievement, you have every reason to be proud of yourself! I hope you got some great R&R after this half marathon, take very good care of yourself. I have tried to get with the running several times, my partner is an avid runner and I have been very drawn to do it for myself but I haven't quite reached that point yet. Have delved deep into yoga this year which has made me feel a lot more comfortable in my body and that might be the spring step I need to get into more cardio fitness. Best of luck with your weight loss endeavor, I am looking forward to seeing more of your videos!

You've done brilliant. I love your honest approach but i don't think you look a mess haha. I've only been running a few years and built up to a half marathon. After being on and off with small injuries I discovered MAF training. Check it out, I was running too fast and too far. Now my fitness and leg muscles are building up gradually and I've enjoyed running for a year now injury free. And I can run further and quicker. I recommend it 100%

Its really sad how self-concious overweight people are about sweating. Sweating during sports is very normal. It doesnt even decrease that much when you lose weight. You reach same intensities a little later, so you wont do it so often in your every-day-life. In spring 2023 ill try for my first half-marathon after losing about 70lbs. Wish me luck.
