Faceting a gemstone: amethyst cubic zirconia.

In this video i cut a piece of cubic zirconia , a man made gem material generally thought of as a diamond substitue. The high refractive index of 2.1 creates beautiful gems Although the hardness of 8.5, the gem can still be considered brittle and can chip or crack, I cut and polished the gemstone using diamond discs and compounds .

Your 1st set of indexes is always the main facets , the 2nd set is break facets, the 3rd in the diagram are the star facets.

I bought it from a member of a website called rock tumbling hobby where he had it posted for sale. I also see them on ebay from time to time.
