      If a reboot of this show gets planned, the format for both the main game and bonus game needs to be improved for faster and better-pacing. For instance, the bottom window only needs to feature either 1, 2, 3 or a Bullseye, with dollar amounts of either $500, $1000, or $1500 on the two top windows, and the goal is $5000. The maximum number of spins in the Bonus Island just needs to be five without lightning, and the top prize for surviving five spins is worth $25,000, and the wheels in the Bonus Island just need to feature only Bullseyes and the lightning, and no dollar amounts.

    If they could bring this back the one rule I hope that they can add is in the Bonus game whoever hits 3 Bullseyes on one spin you’ll win $10,000 in 💰! If you get on the very first spin you’ll win 50,000! Now that would definitely put the show back on the map❤️❤️❤️❤️

    • @rwboa22
      @rwboa22 Před 2 lety +2

      Bullseye would need some major tweaking for today:
      Front Game: Five categories in each of the two top windows, with all questions worth $250 each; bottom (contract) window having contracts of 1 to 3 questions, plus a Bullseye and a Lightning Bolt. Player in control of the board has to complete contract in order to both keep control and bank the amount won in the pot (which would be automatic), otherwise upon missed or wrong answer, the other player can steal what is in the pot by giving the correct answer (similar to Family Feud after third strike). Player in control of board who gets a Bullseye will automatically win by answering one question (akin to a Three Joker spin on TJW). A Lightning Bolt will result in automatic loss of control (akin to getting the "XX" in the Double Cross pilot). $2,500 or more wins the game. Also,the "challenger first" rule (as well as "champion final spin" rule) from TJW is also used.
      Bonus Round: Dollar amounts are $200, $300, $500. Player accumulates $5,000 or more without hitting the Lightning Bolt wins. Bullseyes that appear act as multipliers (2X for one Bullseye; 3X for two Bullseyes). Spinning three Bullseyes is an automatic win (like the Natural Triple in TJW's Bonus Round), and getting three on the very first spin is an automatic win worth $10,000.

      2 other weaknesses that Bullseye suffered from were 1) it was never on a network, unlike TTD and TJW, and 2) if you get a fixed-length contract on a category that neither contestant is very good at, you could potentially be stuck on that contract for a while, thus slowing the game down.
      Don't get me wrong, I too loved Bullseye and wish it would have run longer than what it did. But it did have those fatal flaws, the first of which could have been easily prevented, had Jack Barry and Dan Enright tried to get the show on one of the networks first.
      And the all-celebrity idea? Oh my word, don't get me started on that...that was completely inexcusable and only guaranteed that Bullseye would, sadly, get swept into the dustbin of game show history.

    Hal did steal from Barry Manilow on this one it's absolutely Copacabana with the castanets and string line near then end. I do like it though, it's got a good disco groove and nice 70s brass and strings. Hal always uses either electronic sounds (Tic Tac Dough), whistling (Joker's Wild), or handclap sounds (also TTD), the latter is the only one of those he used here.

      On the contrary,the music is somewhat a verison of "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood" by Santa Esmerelda from the pilot show.

      It's from a one sided vinyl record of highlights from the "Bullseye" music package that Hal Hidey had made. It wasn't commercially released. He just had them made for his own collection. I was lucky enough to have Mr. Hidey send me several of them in 1996.

    The BULLSEYE format could use a tweak. Do it a la THE JOKER'S WILD, where each player gets a spin to answer questions, and the first one to $2000 wins the game. This "contract" format doesn't really appeal.

    • @shaneelitis539
      @shaneelitis539 Před 7 lety +1

      SuperPat: if revived today, A TJW like format could be a good alternative as the contract element is a bit complicated and made the show move slow sometimes, but the contract could be used as a category of its own to make things challenging.

    • @shaneelitis539
      @shaneelitis539 Před 7 lety +1

      Puzzlefan30 you are right on that Bullseye needing the contract format to avoid being a clone of TJW, but the idea of ending shows at the middle of a bonus round, you have to think like a producer, the idea is to provide an element of suspense, will they win or lose?, this engages the viewer to tune in for the next show. however the slow length of some matches because of contract format was the big reason for what you mentioned and as for trying to be a TTD meets TJW hybrid ( with a little bit of the Who What Where game thrown in ) I disagree that it didn't know what it wanted to be , it may have been a bit confusing but it was a quite inventive (albeit over-rule laden) fusion of the 2 B&E hits with just enough gameplay ( contracts, banking money while risking control of the board, losers keeping what they banked, bonus round offering more than $5,000 as a top prize) and aesthetic elements (large neon set, unique gameboard), to make the show different. IMHO B and E did succeed at that it was just the show was caught in the middle of the popularity of its 2 formentioned sister shows (TTD especially, especially during Thom McKee's run) and the Dawson Feud thus rendering the show to bad time slots or no clearance at all in many markets during its civilian run, the jump the shark switch to all celebs signaled the white flag, and any viewers that did tune in didn't stay. B and E might have done better had the show been on a network.

      @fredmckinney8933 Před 6 lety +1

      SuperPat88 I too think that Bullseye could have enjoyed a longer run if B & E had gotten it on a network first, like they did with TTD & TJW, both of which were on CBS, + the original TTD was on NBC way back in the 50's.
      I loved the contract play in this game, making for the ultimate dilemma when a contract ended, creating a risk either way whether a player banked or played on. But at the same time, I will admit, the rules could be a little confusing.
      Oh, and Celebrity Bullseye? I could see that for a week, maybe 2 weeks tops. But PERMANENTLY?!! Bad, bad move on B & E's part...
