I really hate the whole "the nightmares go away when he's with you" trope. Bc it's toxic and putting way too much pressure on the partner. And also as someome who has childhood traumer, it's not realistic and kind of makes a joke out of what so many people experience.
Exactly I hate this trope too. I hate when the male love interest only becomes a better person bc of the girl he loves but is still horrible to everyone else. If you truly want to become a better person you would do it for yourself and not bc its what your partner wants.

i kinda hate it when people say "you know it is a fanfiction because ...", like, belittle fanfiction-authors. i'm not denying that there are terrible ffs out there and people either write just a prettier version of themselves in the story to fangurl about their stars, or write terrible mary-sues (the perfect girl, if someone does not know the term) but not all ffs are like this. i am a fanfiction-writer and i really like developing characters and arcs and just improving my writing skills and there are so many so good ffs out there.
i'm not attacking serena in any way by saying this, these are just my two cents whenever someone says "you know it's a fanfiction because". if you are a published writer or a fanfiction writer, you're doing great and your work deserves appreciation!
Even top writers have like stereotypical ‘tropes’ especially in certain genres so I don’t think it’s an insult to anyone who writes fanfic

I read the entire fanfiction trilogy and it was definitely something lmao basically all they did was fight, have sex, then get back together all in circles and he was toxic as hell. No character needs therapy more than Harry/Hardin
I remember reading the fanfiction when it was on wattpad when I was 16 and then using it to justify my future abusive boyfriend’s behaviour thinking I could change him. Low-key blame it a little bit for all I went through. It’s a dangerous book.

Truth be told, when I first saw the "After" trailer, I thought it was a horror film. No joke. It was giving me psychological horror vibes. Like this girl meets this guy who's a bad boy, but things get worse from there. I thought he was gonna be revealed to be psychotic or become a stalker, and I guess I was right... only the film doesn't realize it's a horror movie...

@Someone 333 if you read the books you know how absolutely awful Hardin was to her. He was also extremely manipulative. I'm not saying she's a good person but she isn't that bad either and her and Hardin should NOT have ended up together. I would never say they belong together, they don't. They're better off broken up.
This serie's love story is so toxic and it really romanticizes emotional abuse. I was in a relationship that was similarly abusive and it was horrible.
Also taking away points from this movie for the wasted potential for a "Hardin/hard on" joke.
Come on, Dylan Sprouse is in this movie. Hardin never stood a chance. He wasn’t even considered an option.

Yeah this movie was horrible. A LONG time ago when the story was literally on wattpad, I read it and was completely in love with it?? I seriously cannot believe that now looking back. Hardin is the worst! And he has no actual interesting “bad boy” charm or appeal so he’s literally just a jerk. Horrible story, horrible characters and horrible messages about relationships. If this was actually meant to showcase an abusive and unhealthy relationship and follow two characters navigating that- it would have been more interesting. But instead it was just romanticizing abusive/toxic relationships.

There are so many actual talented undiscovered authors out there, it is mind boggling to me why badly written trash like this keeps going through, and getting made into movies. Even if they are just looking to make coin on women who want to read about generic stereotyped romance or soft erotica, surely there is better written and more titillating stuff out there. I mean 50 Shades alone, the story was abysmal, the writing was just abhorrent. I tried reading a few chapters, just to form a fair informed opinion. Dear lord, she has a very limited vocabulary, and has zero idea of how a real BDSM relationship is, it was just straight up abuse.

My personal opinion is, that Hardin and Tessa are the worst couple I ever seen. They're horrible film and books as well.
I am the older sister to a girl who is, to this day, a huge fan of One Direction. She's been invested in the careers of those who went on to start solo careers. I wasn't that big a fan of them, but I do know why Harry Styles was so well-liked by the teen and pre-teen girls way back when; he was charismatic, open-minded, he liked doing weird and goofy stuff and sometimes posted videos of that weird and goofy stuff, he spoke multiple languages and just generally came off as a romantic, caring, intelligent person. I also watched "After" and Hardin has absolutely none of that. He's disrespectful, imposing, starts of the story being completely anti-romance and not seeming to be at all interested in the comfort or safety of people around him. He reads more like an adolescent Christian Gray to me than Harry Styles. I'm sorry but I have no idea who this man is...and I especially don't know why someone would write a fanfiction that completely stripped him of *all* of his likeable characteristics. Just...why???

Fanfiction is an amazing way for non-authors to start and improve writing and many of them are deep, meaningful and written with love. Keep up your work, I’m sure your stories are great! 😍🤗📝

This movie was so... unbearable to watch. I thought I'd wind up finding it to be funny because of how bad it is, but it was just upsetting. I hated every character (except Trevor mwah), I hated the story, I hated the trashy condescending stereotypes, I hated everything about Tessa and Hardin's relationship. It was very hard to get through for me and I really didn't like it

For those who are talking about how “toxic” Hardin and Tessa relationship is I’m pretty sure most of y’all are either single or going through way worst then them, that’s 1. 2, y’all need to understand the storyline behind both movies. In the first one he is Mr Bad Boy until he meets Tessa. He starts acting different around her to point where he PROBABLY forgot about the bet he made. (Not saying he did) The second movie obviously at first Tessa is living her best life until her behind got drunk and call Hardin. But that’s not the point, the point is that Hardin was trying to CHANGE for her after she gave him another chance. Unlike OTHER AND WAY MORE TOXIC relationships, he was trying to change himself. And that is RESPECT right there. Because most guys that are toxic or WAY WORST and they DON’T change AT ALL. Everyone got their own opinions or whatever but don’t act like their relationship in a movie is way worst than others in REAL LIFE. Cause it’s not.
