OMG. This is hands down some of the most incredibly concise and cogent lectures on the topics. This deserves far more views. Truly magnificent lectures ma'am!
I’m mostly bedridden, but my situation is different from others. I have physical weakness by nature, so I’ve had torn ligaments and tendons due to muscle weakness induced by benzodiazepines. I tear ligaments and tendons easily. My body is as fragile as glass.
Hi I use tegretol or (carbmazepam) and rivotril how will this affect me...It is used as an anti convulsant..I suffer from epilepsy.3 in morning and evening plus1/2 of a rivotril..How will this affect me??..Love your input on this please..
I see a lot of… “diazepam is short acting (4-6 hours)” but, like you said, one of its metabolites nordazepam has a half life of (~120 hours). Wouldn’t diazepam be short acting? but if you accumulate it’s metabolites to a point of a practical meaning (concentration worth causing effects, crossing blood brain barrier), then it would be technically long acting. But for someone who says, doses 10mg, I’m going to assume the duration of action would be max 4-8 hours with no impact from the metabolites. But I’m confused as diazepam seems to be very successful in tapering, thus indicating to me that the metabolites are having some level of effect beyond the duration of action of diazepam. Please correct me if I’m wrong as I don’t really understand the metabolites.
Fad Sid erratic absorption means that it is absorbed in an irregular and unpredictable fashion . It might diffuse here and there into pharmacologically unresponsive tissues and thus cannot be relied upon that the dose you administered will reach the therapeutic level and cause the effect you want.
No very wrong lorazepam and Alprazolam or short-acting while they had to Pam and going out of town or long acting diazepam has a half hour of 30 something hours well Alprazolam has a half-life of 6 to 4 hours
