Not only that but the Cliques people get into and the drama and not feeling like your good enough because you arent gettting alot of likes, this is alot of the reason im not on twitter much anymore. i post on instagram ever so often just to share what im doing or something that i want to document. i have facebook to talkl to close friends and update my inner circle on what im doing but thats about it. if you get involved in social media its better to keep your circle small online than to go on trying to get thousands of followers and being the most liked... sorry for the rant but ya ireally love this comment..

I think it is really about splitting your time and working on what is important to you. Doing a detox like this with social media is usually meant for about 2 weeks which will allow you to realize how much time you are spending on social media and to stray away from that dopamine levels you get when you are on those websites. If I were you, I would be thinking about one thing, and that is am I consuming as much content as I put out into the world, in other words are you being productive with your time overall and evenly distributing it with things that are important to you like school and spending time with friends.

It’s been over a year since I deleted social media and I’ve never felt better. I feel more confident. I feel like my relationships with people are much more meaningful. I take more pictures without the thought of them being perfect or not, just capturing a moment is enough. My social skills are through the roof. I’ve tried out activities that I was too afraid to try. I paint, read a bit more, play video games, and now I’m learning to play the guitar. I appreciate my life so much more without comparing it to others. I just feel free and full of life. I’ve literally taken the phrase “Stop and smell the flowers” and made it my life.

Thank you for this ❤️ you’ve perfectly put into words just exactly how I feel after distancing myself from social media too. I realized how I’ve been taking more pictures and videos with the intent of capturing and treasuring the moment, as opposed to trying to get that picture perfect photo for the likes.. it’s been really freeing, and a detox worth doing. Being in the moment is what social media really robs us from.. and I regret the years that I allowed it to control how I feel. The days where I overthink what would people perceive of me to every story/post I share which is why I limit myself to try and explore things that really reflect who I am and what I love. Also started playing the guitar and loved it! Quitting social media during the pandemic was really healing for me. I pray that the generation today distance themselves from it and enjoy life, and stop and smell the flowers too 🤍

I deleted my Instagram, twitter, TikTok at the beginning of 2023. At first I was bombarded with everything I was avoiding by being on social media (more or less when it came to my internet relationships). So I’ve been healing from the depression “social media” had given me and creating routines bc I am bored all the time, it keeps me busy. Once I got past those things I’m starting to pick up hobbies I might be into. It’s been fun learning, taking time out of my day to go to a class, learn a new language, plan for my future. I feel happier, more fulfilled, and grateful for everything!
This is just my experience, if you think it’s dumb/stupid/hypocritical it’s not for you. I just believe that I’m this social media dominated time we live in, it’s a necessity to create healthier relationships with social media.

If you’re not careful with curating that reality, it can greatly affect you negatively. It’s not healthy to constantly consume the thoughts and opinions of others at rapid-fire speed. The peace, the calmness, living in my own skin with my own thoughts, reading books, working out, paying the world around me and people more attention. The problem is that sometimes social media can be a decent hobby. It can be fun, connecting, and rewarding. If you're not obsessing over likes, yourself or other people, it can be a place to message and laugh with your friends, see things you're passionate about and consume good material that helps you create. You can use it to help you do all the personal growth you mentioned. It's really just up to you to force yourself to not get sucked back in to the daily, average and sadly normal routine of spending more time looking down than looking around. I don't think most people can, but its very rewarding to be able to scroll for a few minutes, go "that was fun", then go do something productive.

I’m 18. I did something similar to what you did, a few months ago. I had a massive social media problem. I wasn’t focusing in class and was always on my phone. I’d even be late to school because the first thing I did in the morning was go check Instagram and Snapchat. At one point I became self-aware of these issues and decided to do something about it. I deactivated what accounts I could, logged out of others I couldn’t, and let only my closest friends(and obviously extended family) know where and how to reach out to me. I did that for 5 months and I focused on myself. I had some of the worst grades I’ve gotten in my life and recovered them just in time to get into the main university I had always dreamed of going to on a partial academic scholarship. One of my passions has been, for a long time, in graphic design. I used that time to hone my skills in that craft. I have been going to the gym since I was 13 years old, but when I quit social media, it no longer felt like a bland and mundane chore, but I could finally appreciate the effects it had in bettering me, something I didn’t appreciate as much before. By the time last summer came, I was ready to go back to social media. I wasn’t going to fall back into my old habits. Why? Because that time away from it broke the barrier and misconception that I am dependent on social media. I realized that there was a world outside of a screen and a personality to me outside of a profile. That was the difference, now I was *choosing* to go back into social media, I no longer felt like I was tied or forced into doing it. When I have work in front of me, I know when to put it away. I changed the content I consume. Some of y’all don’t realize how much genuine junk you consume on social media. I took a good look at who I follow, who I interact with, and changed it all to stuff that is valuable to *me* and *my wellbeing*. I leveraged social media to get a comfortable graphic design job doing what I love from my desk while studying now at uni. Social media no longer became a toxic master of my life, now it’s a complimentary addition to it that I leverage and take advantage of for my own benefits, rather than letting it dictate my own lifestyle. Everyone needs to do this at some point, the epiphany you’ll experience when you realize just how in control you truly are over your own life is absolutely worth the months of fighting off desires. You’ll thank yourself for it later on.
Great video, and I’m glad it worked for you too!

omg i love this. just last year i slipping into the reason why i become so addicted to social media. starting high school was a nightmare for me. i was a straight A student all my life, and suddenly im satisfied if i get a high F. i became numb to my grades. ive always loved dance, but even this year i started to slip away from it. even when i started to fall into a spiral of bad grades, bad relationships, depression room, the amounts of food i ate and the less i was physically active, i became numb to everything bad was become an addicted robot to tiktok. my concentration was so slow and i didnt take anything seriously. im most likely going to quit social media, but im just so happy to see that there are a lot of people that have experienced and improved from what im going through right now.

2-3 extra hours out of the day & a clearer mind, I’ve been off for about a year now. You’ll become more aware of your surroundings, your goals, and what’s truly important to you and not others. Focusing on what you would like to accomplish becomes much easier. It makes me happy to see another young person like myself realize these things. I would like to mention the most important thing to do after leaving social media: creating good habits, carve out an hour or two for something that may benefit you such as reading or working out.. because subconsciously you’ll be looking for ways to fill this time. And if you’re not careful it could go to music, movies, and video games.

I figured I'd come back to give a small update. Eventually, all the time spent on social media and on her mobile device caused her to make very poor decisions and she got caught planning to do things with untrustworthy individuals. She truly craved the attention and the wrong guy gave it to her. Thankfully, we were able to spoil whatever plans they had. Granted, the guy retaliated and decided to slash the tires on 3 of our cars. Although it was costly to replace, it was worth it because the guy showed his true colors and she saw how dangerous it was to be involved with such a guy. We eventually took her phone away which was very difficult for her but today, she knows it was for the best. Her life has changed dramatically and she's much happier today. She now realizes just how dangerous the lifestyle she was living being addicted to all of this.

I get what you are saying and I get where you are coming from, I just think of it differently

Everybody says the same or similar thing about any other generation/time period. This is what you people don’t get. History repeats itself. In like 30 years when gen alpha is the “main/young generation”, people will ridicule them because they’re young and new and we’ll look back and remember the good times and yes this includes social media. It’s easy to glorify the past and demonize the present cuz you’re living in the present currently.

That's so true. i quit social media 7 years ago, and till now, i don't even remember why i decided to do this, but i'm glad i did. the first thing i experienced, i felt that all sudden i can breath?? i don't feel extra pressure. then i noticed that the day is so long!! i was like "wow i have a lot of time to do whatever i want". you can learn new language, travel, read books, etc. such a life-changing decision. you should try it yourself , wish you all the best

    • @MOK_For_Games
      @MOK_For_Games Před rokem

@@nikaa2282 well, i'm talking about the ones that waste your time more than give you benefits, the ones that keeps you unconsciously & endlessly scrolling for no reason, like TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Reddit.
All these years i was using What's app to communicate with family and close friends, Discord for communicating with my friends while playing and obviously CZcams.😅
Lately in the middle of 2022, NGL i made a new account on Twitter and Reddit so i can share my videos on them. so they only for my channel.
In case you have quite any of social media and afraid of coming back to this endlessly scrolling, i did this ---> i added a bookmark for Twitter and Reddit on my Profile page not HOME so every time i open them to share my videos i don't see others posts. Also it's ok to do check other posts with your same business field from time to time?! just a sneak peek 👀😂
sorry for this long comment tho 😂

Social Media can be so difficult to quit and I am so happy I came across this video. The constant comparison we make of ourselves to other people is not healthy at all. Everyone is unique in their own way and it's so hard to see this when other people are only showing their highlights.

I deleted all of my main social medias, including TikTok, at the beginning of this year. I do still like creating content and using Instagram as a messaging platform for school and club group chats, and I don’t think deleting it is necessarily the key to solving issues like social anxiety-it’s about being proactive with your social media usage. I found a video a while ago that said to talk to yourself out loud and set a purpose/ask yourself “why?” any time you check your phone, instead of passively scrolling. Also, unfollowing and not interacting with accounts you compare yourself to or people who aren’t true friends with. Completely changed my mindset, and it’s a healthy and more attainable balance for many.

The things you said about happiness are so true. I haven’t even quit but just spent less time on it and I find myself content and enjoying the most simple parts of my days. I’ll find myself driving and listening to music with the greatest rush of excitement ever, and just having conversations with my family my mood skyrockets.

thanks for sharing this video! earlier today, i hit my limit with twitter. it was just bombarding me with so much negativity that i decided it was time for an indefinite break from social media overall. we're all so much more than what an algorithm decides we should see, and i know i deserve to explore who that is more mindfully. my plan is to focus on writing, making videos, and practicing the skills that i love. we all deserve to spend more time creating our happiness where we can.

As a 21 year old who has been off of social media since September 2021, I can genuinely say that I’ve benefitted 1000% from quitting social media. It makes me so happy when I see others doing the same, especially the younger generations. My advice to anyone starting or planning on starting is keep going, don’t go back, and stay patient because the benefits will take some time to show (which they do), and when they do they will last a lifetime.

Did this from 2021 -2022. Best decision I’ve ever done. This detox is something people have to do. It’s like a refreshing restart to life lol. I’ve had more appreciation for life. Felt more productive and had a thirst for reading and working on projects. My creative outlet has prospered since doing the detox. I was able to complete more and progress on a day to bases. Since doing the detox I am less on social media and don’t post anymore. I don’t have the urge to update people every second of the day.
One goal of mine for 2023 is to showcase my projects and to post again. Obviously not an everyday thing but to slowly pop in every so often.
Once you get the ball rolling you don’t want to go back take it from my 2 year social detox :) cheers happy 2023 everyone!

When I clicked on this video I didn’t expect this. You are an absolutely incredible talker and your frame of mind is so hard to come by. I’ve never seen someone appreciate life as much as me, it’s because I’ve taken the time to think. I’m glad you did the same and your seeing benifits. You seem like a good kid, I wish you the best

My hats off to you my friend! I just turned 60 years old and, as you can guess, I did not grow up with social media or cell phones etc. etc. I consider myself very lucky that way. Everything that you’re saying is absolutely true. The time alone that you get back in your life to start to pursue all those things he’s incredible. If you haven’t already, you will find that eventually more friendships and relationships will open up to you as you’ll be meeting people in person instead of online. What you said about going to the gym is a great thing. I’ve been focused on my health and well-being since I was a teenager and it’s very important to me and I hope and pray that all of you that are reading this will eventually get to that point where the most amazing things will open up to you. All the best to all of you young folks!

As someone who has never had any social media other than CZcams, it’s always been so interesting to see peoples experience with this kind of stuff. I definitely think some of these benefits are also a result of your reflection on how social media affected your life, not necessarily a direct product of the absence of social media if that makes sense. I love the way you describe all of these new views you have because I think even those who are consumed by other things in their lives can learn to have hope and gratitude such as you describe. Thank you for encouraging people to find a greater truth! ❤

It truly is a huge relief to leave all social media behind. At first I was surprised how easy it was, but to be honest there were certain moments where I felt the need to share a picture of my beautiful travel adventures or something like that.
These were the moments where I missed the little benefits of social media but looking at the things I gained from quitting Social Media was so much more. Wasting time as you say is one significant benefit. Then you don't get all the perfectly executed pictures of others shoved into your face. It gives a more reasonable point of view on life.
