One thing I noticed about Jay is that he doesn't just focus on the latest, greatest, bleeding edge, hardware. He gives us tips on troubleshooting and possible fixes, helps users determine whether they should upgrade their PC before shelling out for a new one, warns users about potential scams floating about, remains objective and shills for no one, no matter how big the company is. He's a bit like Steve from Gamer's Nexxus in this respect. I appreciate your integrity and dedication to the end user, Jay. Thank you

I have just watched your episode of what to do after I built my tower and this episode is just as awesome and helpful as the previous one. After watching you for 3 days straight, basically teaching me, how to build my first proper tower correctly, installing everything correctly, and now teaching me the software I should have and look into, I finally feel for the first time, I actually have million times better understanding of my computer and how my first proper gaming build works.

So...as seen from the replies above, laziness or monetary gain is an excuse for lack of convenience to you the viewer as YOU have the inconvenience of watching ads to make this and other videos worth someones time to make . Direct links are useful and "SAFE" if they come from a "TRUSTED" person. Who wants to click on a google search link to find out you got the wrong link and downloaded a virus. We must be aware that not all viewers are not as savy to protect themselves from potential scams that can harm them irrecoverably. At minimum time stamps on a video to point out the exact link in browser that should be utilized. On that note here is a useful piece of software that disables windows update more effectively than shown in this video as windows from time to time changes windows updates to the point where it turns itself back on regardless of what setting you use to disable windows update. m.majorgeeks.com/files/details/wumt_wrapper_script.html

Feels bad when you've got all your parts and now you're stuck with waiting for prices to come back down or paying an extra 50% or more for your last component. Considering wasting half my weekend driving to Micro Center to pick it up in store for a 'Normal' price (+tax). It goes through the regular uninstall then checks for all the crap left behind which you can select what to remove, can also force uninstall along with a few other features too. I honestly rarely use the regular windows add or remove programs anymore. It also may or may not help you reinstall a trial software to buy extra time....I definitely didn't do such in college for software I needed so I wouldn't have to drive in to work on labs. :)

My favorites as a photographer as well as a gamer are:

Rufus for making bootable USBs (Linux Windows etc.)

On one hand, FastStone is one of the very few that has touch support. On the other hand it tries to load all images into RAM the moment you navigate into their folder, so it's absolutely shit if you're connecting to your NAS via VPN, or other such situations. If you don't need touch, I prefer IrfanView.

Im a bit late here, but another piece of software that I find useful is "Core Temp" does exactly what it says, displays the temperature of all cores of your processor on your task bar as one of the smaller icons, while it may not be used as much since there is other software that shows CPU, GPU temp, etc I find this one typically usedful

Disable all updates on Windows? I agree this is good if you are also aware that you will need to sit down at some points in time to actually do the updates... You've just told everyone watching the video to disable Windows update with no mention that they'll still need to update at some point.
