I was told to never choose a traditions over a cva when given the choice, from several people. Not sure why. I’m old to hunting new to muzzle loading, ordered the cva optima v2 to get started
I wish I had taken that advice. I bought the Traditions Vortek Strikerfire (in the Honorable Mentions at the end of the video). I've had it for a year and put less than a dozen shots through it. The breach plug gets so dirty after 2 shots that I have to break the action open over my thigh to remove the spent primer. I clean everything, load it up, and go to shoot round 3. I push the striker slide up, and it will not engage. Every time! 2 shots, and it fouls up. I wish I bought something like a CVA or anything with an external hammer.
Ive had 6 cva over the last 15-20 years they have excellent barrells uses to skimp on stocks and sights but top quality now all around
Just found you guys and you're website, I'll be ordering a new revolver in a few days!
Glad to have found you here in Oregon!
Awesome! Thank you for the kind words and please let me know if you have any questions!
Ordered tonight!
Thanks again!
Some good info. But it’s hard to go wrong with many of the modern offerings in the muzz community.
Need to look into Bad to the bone muzzleloaders coming out of Las Cruces NM
Hands down the best Long range muzzleloader and thee best costumer service out there
Why not knight Muzzleloaders in this???
Where can we get one of those jackets you have on in video?
Last time I checked you had to use #11 or musket cab is the vapor legal in Oregon
You are correct. In order to be legal in Oregon during muzzleloader season, muzzleloaders must use #11 or musket cap ignition. The CVA Accura MR-X is available with musket cap ignition.
There are no restrictions regarding barrel twist rate so the VAPR barrels are legal as long as it uses open sights and percussion cap ignition.
@@MuzzleLoaderscomif you can't use scopes then what's the need for a fast twist barrel and high BC bullets back before scopes were legal here on muzzleloaders and I was forced to use open sights my limit was about 100 yards maybe a little more after that it gets tough seeing you're target good enough to consistently hit with a bullet man Iam glad we don't have to do that anymore
Do you test knight muzzleloaders? I used cvas and traditions muzzleloaders and found the knight Mountaineer out performed them both. It's easier to clean and take many shots in between cleanings and it's super accurate.
I just got done shooting my knight mountaineer muzzleloader.I used only a bipod, not a lead sled or sand bags or anything and had 5 shots all in the same hole.I absolutely love that gun!!
@@kevinhochstetler7684 at what distance and load
@Steve it was only at 100 yds, with 115 gr. powder and custom bullets my seller makes for me
nothing wrong with these but for the money get a 700 remington ML and put a badgerridge 209 conversion kit in it. or just buy a knight!
It's illegal in the state of Oregon for u to hunt with a fiber optic sight or scope on a muzzleloader along with any internal firing mechanism.
What makes you think you need to say that? Do you think you're the only one who knows about state hunting retulations?
Only during a special muzzleloader hunt.......otherwise, they are perfectly legal to hunt with in Oregon.
Sounds like Oregon just outright sucks in terms of firearms in general
Everyone seems concerned about making long shots... I hunt in thick brush; what I need is a 42 inch, .69 caliber smoothbore with a thick enough barrel to handle 150-200 grain charges of powder. And a military reproduction is not the answer.
Firesticks are not legal in many states. Sadly, my state of N.H. is one.
Gay
@@Big_AlMC They recently amended the statute so Firesticks are now OK. and .40 cal is ok now.
Pretty sure black powder rifles are legal in all 50 states.
@@thatguy83ful firesticks are outlawed in a few still.
@@jeffhays1968 dam that sucks
if you have never shot a knight , we are now dumber for having watch this.
I am gun shy of any rifle combo with scope....whether modern or black powder......too many times scope does not hold up.....sale rifle and individual picks scope.....terrain and enviroment dictates....
It's just an easy way to collect the extra hundred dollars.
You left out Knight rifles in every category therefor, your opinions mean nothing to me!
Sorry u feel that way... knight is garbage u shid buy a CVA lol hahaha
thy have never made a cva that could carry a knights water to it mountaineer for instants I had at.c pro hunter end ever rangefinder said 460yrds put that buck down in his tracks150 gr.3x7 200gr.tc shockwave bullet drop down to 180gr.pure lead ballistic tip boat tail 150 gr.3x7 powder at 300yrds. very nice first size hole felt like a chip shot like surgery.
@@beckyjones9444 I can't really tell if you're trash talking CVA or not but if you are... I doubt any knight muzzle loader holds a torch to CVA accuracy and range.
Knight is the only muzzleloader I’ll hold to my face 20 ft up a tree, 3 miles from the truck. Sorry but my well being comes first. I bought a Spanish barrel once and thought the least of it.
@@buzzardlife ed shillen taught begara everything they know about barrels... Idk what happened but I imagine a lot to do with user error
I wish you would add that some of the guns you suggest are not legal in bunch of states. A lot of people watch your videos and purchase weapons based on your opinions…let them know which states don’t allow which guns for hunting. Just my opinion.
You should know what is & isn't legal in your state.
It's pretty darn simple to know what kind of primer & sights you can use......
@@elonmust7470 agree
Don't be lazy. Do some dang research buddy
Yeah it's up to you to read and know your local laws not your babysitter
Its not true muzzle loading.
I believe u mean traditional? Both are considered muzzleloaders, one traditional, the other contemporary.
These are all a disgrace. A true muzzle loader is flint, open lock percussion, and powder horn. None of this inline nonsense. You must do it right, or not at all.
Geez I'd hate for you to show these in any real detail.....
If you want to claim a special season , and claim to be a muzzleloading maven, go traditional. Thes things are cheating.
Don't agree... I don't see whale oil lamps or horse&buggy anymore. The archery advocates said the same thing a few years ago about compound bows... to say it's cheating is pretty narrow minded. You are entitled to your opinion and I respect that, but because I choose an inline ML rifle, or a compound bow is my right as long as it's a legal option. It doesn't make me a cheater
@@kylemorgan8351 The whole point was you were using an old school technology
@@kylemorgan8351 keep telling yourself that...
I have both types love em both but hunt with my Kentucky long rifle most of the time.
@@mitchellsmith4690 Exactly iv ended up with a few inlines. After shooting both I'd never hunt with the inline it's cheating. Iv been shooting traditional for 23 years(8 when I started). I'll never agree with allowing inlines during a special season. Honestly not sure why I own them other then not passing up a good deal.
