Weirdly enough, Gobert can actually knock down 3s like it’s nothing. I saw him warming up the other day and he made at least 10 threes in a row. Some of them stepbacks. Just goes to show all these NBA players have a ridiculous bag they just do what their team asks for and play to their strengths

About the three-point shot, the NBA shortened the three-point line back in the 1990s. When the NBA shortened the three-point line from 1994-1995 to 1996-1997, everybody's 3 PTS efficiency went to the roof...
In those three NBA seasons, Kerr, whose one of the best shooter ever made 321 shots of his 644 attempts : an efficiency of 49.8%.
On regular three point attempts, Kerr managed to convert 405 of his 955 shots; which means he was shooting 42.4% from downtown!
Steph, Kyle K, and S Nash also at 42%.
Those three all have over 1600 or average 2 three pointers per game for a decade.
I sure wish pistol Pete got this kind of chance during his career, he would probably have the most points of all time out of any player in basketball

Not really. Pistol Pete was taking about one shot from long range in his later NBA career and the rare NBA stats we have... he never took more than 4 " long twos " shots per game. Louie Dampier was a better sharp and volume shooter in the ABA history (7.1 3PTS/G).
Definitely a great scorer though.
@@david.tousignant20 he took common sense shots, if they were a three-point line for him to stand behind, I’m quite certain those are shots he would’ve took and made as well. Why would you take low percentage two point shots when you don’t have to?

I watched one of Shaq's LSU games the other day. He was taking short turnaround jumpers in the post and had good form on his free throws. He wasn't making many but he didn't look like a monster shooting at a nerf hoop in the hallway with a low ceiling.

There was one player in NCAA Basketball for the SNES that was a 70% 3-point shooter, and it didn't matter where you shot from. I was draining 3's from half court all game long. The oddest part is he was a center.
The ultimate irony with Wilt is that he holds the record for most free throws made in a single game.

Technically, Michael Jordan made 5 of 25 shots in the 3-point contest. It was for a possible total of 30 points. Still, it’s the worst to date, in the 1st round. Only Detlef Schrempf had a score as low, but that was in the 2nd round, at least.
Fun fact: the 3 point line was farther back in 90. Thus making it impossible to compare to today's line.
@@joshportie as far as I know, the 3-point line is the same distance now as it was back then. It was shortened around the top between 1994 and ‘97, but was moved back out afterward. I don’t think it’s changed since then.

In all fairness, Russel Westbrook probably doesn't think it's "ok to jack up 4 3s a game." It's probably the same reason Denver tries to get Joker to shoot 4 threes a game. It stretches the floor and opens up the lanes for cutting wing players and the midrange for the offense

For me its Tim Deli**** he has a 13.7% 3pt shooting and 14.6% field goal percentage. He also averages 0.1 points per game with 0.2 assist and 0 rebounds per game

Its sometimes weird about wilts free trows he could make the shot better in a normal game simply shooting from the mid range than in the free trow, like Shaq and the rest of the centers there I think that they are just too strong normally to shoot like that and they take strength off the shot by jumping, you can see Wilt just flick it with his wrist during the midrange, maybe that's why it happens

Has to do with the fact you're stationary for a freethrow in combination with their hand size so they can't generate a decent amount of arc.
Jumping adds strength which is why every shooter does it not because it removes it

The worst 3pt shooter by a guy who was known as being a 3pt specialist was Michael Adams. Yeah, he was 5-10 but there was a year where I think he took over 400 3pt shots and was at under 30%.
